I grew up on these now vintage perfumes and they bring so many memories. Opium, Rive Gauche and Anais Anais were some of my favorites. I also loved Lauren by Ralph Lauren but my signature perfume for many years was Aromatic Elixir.
The 60s and 70s are my favorite decades for perfumery. I have a vintage bottle of YSL Y, the original Opium EDT, as well as Cinnabar, Aromatics Elixir, Aramis, Chanel No. 19, First, Grey Flannel, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Tea Rose, Jovan Musk, and Reminiscence Patchouli. I badly want to add Rive Gauche, Azzaro Homme, Silences, & Cristalle to my collection. They're all incredible. I need to test more from Lauder as well, so many of their best scents are from the 70s.
What a lineup! I have all apart from Anais Anais, but I was always a Loulou girl and always had a bottle in my pedestal to top up whatever my scent was 💙 . Your honourable mentions bring back memories; Nahema, Magie Noire and No 19 are still in my collection and my aim this year is to put some dents in my bottles
Awesome! I have to say I'd choose LouLou over Anaïs Anaïs any time. I used up my Magie Noire; the new formula was strong on me when I got it, but then it stopped performing, and I ended up using the whole bottle. Do you have the current formula or the vintage one? Nahema is such an underrated fragrance... You're very lucky to own it because it's quite rare. 🙂
Hi Luke! I'm thoroughly enjoying R Patchouli and Cinnabar since winter began! I've been hesitant to try Anais Anais because I'm not sure about the green notes. Not usually my favorite. I still love the original Opium. I have the edp. Youth Dew is still a favorite since way back then! I have edp and the Bath Oil. For me, they are beautiful fragrances....reminiscent of my youth.....😌 I have Shalimar, Opium, Obsession, Youth Dew, Cinnabar, Emeraude, Ambush, and Poison of course! Many others. I would love to try Y edp for women.. I can only find the men's version. I'm so fortunate to have experienced perfumes from the 60s, 70s, and even 80s, first-hand. I have modern fragrances that I love, but I believe that fragrance greatness of those decades are lost.
Hi there! That's awesome. I think Patchouli might be one of my most worn scents this winter. Anais Anais can be tricky; I can't always handle it. I wish I had the original Opium... I want to get a small bottle of Shalimar, and maybe Obsession too, although it might be redundant. When it comes to orientals, Youth Dew, Cinnabar, and Coco take the cake for me. You're so right in saying that the greatest fragrances have already been created, and I don't think they'll ever be surpassed by any new release. Modern scents are beautiful too. 🙂 Thanks for commenting, have a nice rest of the week.
@@lukeparfums Obsession will always live on. I think it will be rediscovered. I bought a Vintage 'boat' bottle from a seller on Mercari. It was leaking when it arrived. Not too much, but leaking. I contacted the seller. I told her that I wasn't going to submit a claim, but suggested that she might use thread tape on dabbers before shipping......she BLOCKED me from further comments and purchases!!! 😨I wasn't mean or rude. It was so unnecessary. I should have submitted the claim!😁
I think I'll pick up a small bottle of Obsession. If I remember correctly, it's VERY potent. You must have the parfum bottle then. Oh, no. That was so rude. I would have submitted a claim... I received a fake bottle once, and the seller tried to brush me off, but I was persistent. I returned the fake, and PayPal helped me get my money back.
I always wanted to try Reminiscence Patchouli (and tonka actually too) it sounds soooo good! I love a really loud one 😂 Reminiscence have some great fragrances, they are worth checking out. Of course I have great scent memories with Rive Gauche as that one is just my mum in a fragrance! I have a bottle with a little bit in and I wear it occasionally!
Hi Claire! I agree that Reminiscence is such an underrated house. I haven’t seen their Tonka fragrance, but they have many single or two-note scents. A scent that smells like mum is always something special, isn't it? My mum wore things like Poison back then, but her signature was Cerruti 1881. She stopped wearing fragrances altogether a few years ago due to allergies and overall sensitivity. The Cerruti one is super inexpensive, but I just can’t bring myself to buy it because it’s her scent.
I always thought of it as an '80s perfume because my aunt started wearing it then and possibly wore it into the early 2000s. However, it was actually released in 1977. Cinnabar is lovely; do give it a try when you're passing by the EL counter. It's my second favorite vintage oriental, right after Coco. Thanks for watching.🙂🙂
I’ve loved Rive Gauche since discovering it in the 80s. There is just something about it I adore: the rose is so beautiful and I love the cold quality. I have the last remains of a 50ml EDT my daughter gave me in 2014 and wonder whether the current formulation is worse (the 2014 bottle smelled quite reasonable - no richness though - and very little lasting power). I need to go test it before investing in a new bottle I think. And yes - I looked at the old ads on UA-cam: amazing! Still vividly recall the wonderful magazine ads for this beauty, with the models wearing the blue, black and silver. Captivating!
Love this video Luke❤❤❤ ( well i love every classic perfume video you make 😂) I adore and own Rive Gauche, Opium, Jean Louis Sherrer, Cristalle, Patchouli, Aromatics Elixir. I dont know if I forgot any.... I dont know why but i always thought Anais was an 80's perfume, maybe because it doesnt smell 70's to me 😂. I still want to add Anais to my collection. I'm so happy you also mentioned Rive Gauche💖 I totally understand why you discribed it as cold, it really is! I always hated the deodorant bottle but when i started to understand the scent i think its perfect for it.
Hi there, thank you!💕🙂 I've tested Rive Gauche several times but don't own it because it's so hard to find a bottle at a good price. It's becoming increasingly rare. Also, the deodorant can bottle, as you mentioned, isn't my style. How do you like Cristalle? I've been eyeing that one too. Thanks for watching.🙂
@@lukeparfums Rive Gauche prices are horrible indeed at the moment thats why i order it from the UK 😂😂😂 When i found it for around € 68 i bought 2 bottles and i'm so happy i did that looking at the current prices.... That seems like a very good deal. A few years ago, I would try Cristalle every time I passed by the Chanel counter, and I liked both versions a lot. I remember reading that Cristalle was reformulated, but I didn’t look into it or try the new version. I’ll get it if I find a reasonably priced preloved bottle. Chanel retail prices are already crazy, and I don’t want to be disappointed with the new formula. Thanks for sharing this.🙂
