Destiny 2 - WILL OUR GUARDIAN DIE IN THE FINAL SHAPE? Revisiting Our Grave
Вставка

- Our Guardian is a monster killing machine. Almost every challenge we’ve come across is obliterated by a paracausal reign of fire. Several times we’ve felt defeat like during the Red War when we lost our Light, but can it get any worse? Can our Guardian actually die? Or Sacrifice ourselves to save this universe? We’ve seen our grave in Season of Dawn so let’s discuss this theory.

Today we revisit our Guardians grave from Season Of Dawn and speculate on the Final Shape! Ghost has been struggling recently.. does this lead to Ghosts death? Will our Guardian need to make a sacrifice in the end to save this universe? "Devotion inspires bravery, bravery inspires sacrifice, sacrifice leads to death.” Personally.. our Guardian wont die a final death in my opinion. We know the game is going to continue so Bungie killing off your favorite character would be quite alarming. A quick death and revival from the Light (maybe even without ghost) would be interesting though! To continue the story
With the witness failure, the vex figure the best solution in their ultimate goal is to time travel to Venus a few billion years prior. To prevent humanity from ever existing in Sol. Your guardian learns of this pursues unknown mind and then destroys the device. In the devices destruction both the mind and your guardian are sent back a few billion years on Venus. Your guardian accomplishes destruction of the device and destroys the mind responsible stopping the vex from transforming Venus and Sol but has no way to travel back through time. A few months have passed after your tomb and funeral. Ikora receives an encrypted transmission. Ikora leaves the city to unknown location. She is met by an unknown bearded guardian. Your guardian in their final shape.
well after lightfalls ending this isnt the first time our ghost has caused badguys to more or less win, and in lightfall we had the shot lined up to kill our ghost, so i could see us in final shape in the big stand off ghost gets controlled and we have to kill it making us mortal and us dying, like maybe were impaled by something and as ghost goes to heal us it gets taken over and we need to shot it effectively killing ourselves.
I hope Not but it would be a fitting end to the light and darkness
What if its not our guardian that sacrifices itself but the traveler
If Bastion gets a huge buff I’m gonna be scared
How else will it be our favorite weapon?
Right.....
Should’ve been at least Gjallarhorn
Bastion catalyst here's hoping
I had a friend of mine who used bastion. And when I say he mastered the thing. It was his main weapon of choice, and the way he used it was terrifying. He would always be able to hit his target, even if not all shots would land he'd make sure to finish you off with his hand cannon. He was surprisingly the only one I knew who actually used Bastion. I tried it out but fusion rifles were never my thing, and Bastion just over time became his weapon. As mine was Monte Carlo.
If we do die, I suspect that we'll be brought back by the Traveler Directly. Like, we'll be dead long enough to be buried; our Grave will flood with light and we'll be brought back with our Ghost.
Wouldn't our ghost have done the reviving already before that point?
@@redohealer2 I did mean it more so in a situation where our Ghost is already Dead or otherwise incapable of Reviving Us.
Honestly it would be cool if we died and then in another 1000 years or something, we are revived again but the world is even more different.
@@ScrumpGlobalnext saga????
DESTINY 3 BABY LETS GOOOOOO
perfect way to restart and remove all our weapons again
Our character dying would be Bungie's way of bringing character customization without having to start on a new character. Would be lame yet understandable.
My exact thoughts. Looked thru the comments to see if anyone else thought so
Noble6
I didn't think of that, that would be amazing 👀
Killing the player character is a ballsy move no matter how you cut it though.
Actually, that would be cool for the intro. You die in the first timeline and then you get reborn into this timeline.
It sounds like to me that we just disappear, maybe we go into the portal and we're gone for a little while but on the outside a long time has passed. The way Saint talks seems like they don't have our body.
Okay but Joxter (the black and white Titan in the intro cutscene of Season of the Deep) was apparently found soon after he went into the portal
Yes! I think we’re missing and they presume we died
@@supercato9613 Well I mean like we actually make it through, like Ikora (assuming she successfully made it).
@supercato9613 yeah, because he doesn't succeed in getting past the portal we will. Which would be why time passes.
@@supercato9613 he never got into it he was destroyed and sent flying back before he reached it
We died by getting hit by a wall at terminal velocity
That's how the Final Shape ends 👀
Or hitting a flat surface with steeper than a 2 degree angle X3
Killed by the architects
The bunker missions were fun 😂 couple bloopers shot from flying through that shaft making contact with anything
Death by spikey wall
Imagine for the final mission of final shape, if you die or wipe, you get a cutscene of the witness recreating the universe and erasing everyone out of existence in the process.
I want it now chad theory
It'd be interesting if you'd killed enough Gods to be able to survive your own death in the Ascendant Plane due to the Sword Logic.
And then Mara helps you navigate they way home, the way she had to.
OR, maybe all the characters you've saved and left an impression on, team up to save YOU.
For the first scenario, either Ghost disappears in the final battle (you have to do it without revives and only Darkness subclasses) and then you go back and kidnap ghost.
Or you're intertwined enough that you both survive as ascendant 'ghosts', to be guided back by Mara.
Or you can revive them with by using Light and Darkness together, light to restore their form, and Darkness to call and restore their soul.
I hope we get an Infinity War ripoff where all our Allies comes through the portal on our final stand.
Somewhat doubt full it might be a fixed point in time that will happen regardless weather if your paracausel or not
I love the sound of the second scenario 😊
This set of lines and dialogue are some of the emotionally driven pieces of this story ever. There's not many that come close personally. Saint's relationship with the Guardian is amazing. So loyal and full of pride. I remember getting a bit teary eyed when he was reciting our Guardian's accolades and us being the reason Saint chose to continue the fight.
🤦♂️
@@thebhoy8561the fuck???
In my opinion the Traveller is a record keeper of all things that have lived and died, just look at all the creatures that popped up on planets it tera formed so likely it can bring back anything its sees as necessary, while the veil is is a record of all thoughts and ideas to give them shape. Its a possibility that we do die but the game will continue, just hope it improves.
I think there may be an instance, and this is a really big reach, where our Guardian dies and we have to play as another character for a while (perhaps Zavala, Saint, Ikora, maybe just our Ghost wondering to get our Guardian back). And then once we reunite with our Guardian, the saga continues, IMO.
Definitely a big reach but it would be pretty cool if that were the case! 😁
I hope we don't
We probably won’t
i hope we do
We have to die to get inside the traveler
Don’t worry we won’t, I doubt bu give even remembers doing this.
Would it really matter, it’s not like he/she is a developed protagonist that we’ve gotten really attached to.
It's either Destiny 2 is gonna die or our Guardian gonna die. Not sure which one goes first. 🤔
I doubt we (us and our Ghost) die permanently if we do infact die our "final death". But I don't think we'll die a "final death" at all though. The grave we saw as ours is but one of the many timelines where we failed, it won't be the current one.
Bro pull out the 14 600 004 multiverse theory. Idk if there's multiverse i've forgor the lore
@@trigonosefal2525 Yeah there is, it's how we revive IIRC. Our Ghost uses a timeline where we didn't die as a blueprint to remake us
@@hazeltree7738 so if in all possible timeline we add a big beef with the Architecte and die of skill issue our ghost would not be able to revive us no ?
I bet we'll die from injuries after losing Light at the end of TFS.. That would be a nice finish for the story of godkiller protagonist
I have a theory that 100% won’t happen, but would be sooo dope.
-The last cutscene of Final shape we die killing the Witness
-The season starts us off as being rezzed as a new guardian, letting us redesign our character and maybe choose our ghosts voice?
-it’s a great way to get New Lights to restart. For us old lights we inherit The Guardian’s possessions (to give reason why we keep our gear and stuff)
Pretty good theory btw i love the Idea to " redesign " our guardian and Ghost
Im actually kinda hoping we do die in the final shape and get reborn somehow. As catalyst of sorts between the ligjt and dark. A great reset for not just the destiny universe but also us as players. Maybe our guardian is killed and revived again this time with no memories as if we were fresh all over again. Who knows? But i do think with the last decade+ of story our death should 100% be a part of it.
No. but yes, but no.
I believe we will have to “Die” to reach the same realm that Cayde and Ikora appear in the trailer, but that we will complete whatever we do in there and the Traveler (now saved” will bring us back.
TLDR - We can’t die because it is a live service game and so we must survive to be able to keep playing the game.
If we die i think it could be fun that we became some kind of legendary warrior and a new character will try to continue our legacy I think that would be cool
It would bring a spiritual end to Destiny and Marathon. One that Halo got in Halo 4. Much as we'd all like to have our favorite IPs live forever, we've seen where that leads with modern Halo. And let's be honest, if the fate of the universe came down to the choice between living or sacrificing himself, our guardian would make the ultimate sacrifice every time.
Halo 4 was garbaaaage lol
@@thomasfurman6720 < Thanks for sharing. Most of the community would agree with you on the gameplay and PvP. We disagree with you on a story. Halo 3 was better, but it didn't make Halo 4 any less impactful.
Thanks for making an actual good vibed hype video of Destiny. I love this game so much.
It could be really cool if we sacrifice ourselves for ghost, showing him that in the end, we did really care and then in the epilogue of the story he goes on a long journey to find us again and we get a really emotional “eyes up, guardian” to call back to d1 and the start of d2
thanks Evase for providing so much clarity me when it comes to destiny 2, i can't thank you enough😊😊
This would give “Become Legend” a whole new meaning in Destiny
Do you remember the speach the Speaker said about the bravery, sacrifice etc and in this video it mentiones the death defending the city..it would definitely make sense if we fight the witness at the last mission and with our bravery we must sacrifice ourselves to protect the city and then like you said it would lead us to destiny 3
Also, I am not sure if anyone has pointed this out but the first trailer on mars had these weird color shifts when you're in a pyramid especially Rhulk's, the dame color shifts happen. Not sure if it's connected to anything but it's interesting that the trailer and the pyramids share something with the mars trailer. Trailer or cutscene.
What if in one time line the vex learned how to seal away our light like the cabal did to the traveler but on a smaller scale to seal the remaining light in our ghost after the witness enters the portal before the final shape therefore making us unable to resurrect like we normally would? 🤔 The ghost could bring us back but what if the vex capture and steal away our ghost during the battle in order to give themselves the light from the remaining ghosts?
man. I want this ceremony as a cutscene for the final shape. Imagine this. Witness calls all his supporters to the portal but last city tries to stop them. all enemies at once attack the last city and somehow supress the traveler like in red war. the entire mission is about almost endless fight something like in lone wolf mission in halo reach. when you die the cutscene shows up showing the grave from top view and in the last dialogue we see our guardian taking the sword and the bastion from the grave and the mission continues with those 2 weapons.
I had goosebumps doing this. Messed up one symbol too and had to do it all over again lmao
we need to give him a hug
i've been a huge fan of the thin line lore tab ever since I first got the gun back in forsaken and i still have it in my vault
Love that Raze Lighter is on our tomb.
I really hope that we get some closure on that piece of the puzzle. Although we might not actually die for good, the idea of the person I’ve been experiencing the Destiny universe through dying really makes me emotional. I think that the very concept of the divine savior who has gone through the worst in order to save humanity, regardless of the cost dying really carries some weight behind it. I’ve often thought about scenarios tying back to this such as us defending the city from the witness, dying, then waking up some other time and seeing the dark future (not Elsie’s version) and seeing the ruins of the new tower and remains of the vanguard, then maybe going to fix the sun dial to go back in time, or someone comes back to get us for the future to be saved, I don’t know. Either way, if the story is going to have any dramatic or impactful moments in it, including this would make me feel the same way as I did with the Forsaken story.
I believe Cayde 6 is Light Taken that explains the Ghostly Hue.
Savathun could Teach us how to make Light Taken
8:45 I like this idea, you get to choose the fate of your guardian, did they make a noble sacrifice or just manage to survive? Could be really interesting, and if you have a new guardian you could learn about the legacy of your original guardian, possibly go on to inherit some of their titles
I hope we do die and permanently. We've done much for this universe and its about time a new guardian to take that mantle. Our guardian deserves a eternal rest.
I can absolutely confirm that MY guardian IS NOT in that tomb. BASTION, Is NOT my favorite gun! IceBreaker is. Sadly i still have not recovered my baby after the red war. Ive been making due with Sun Shot...
I think we should. It would be a great way to end the crazy up an down saga and start anew. Imagine if after our character dies, we get to make a new one with 3 different races that include our new Allie’s (including hive of savathun happens)
I just think it would pack a punch to watch our character die in a dramatic, emotional way. Possibly with words from Cayde as it happens
hearing saint made me tear up a little.
Great video just one thing. About the dark futures... they dont really matter anymore as of seraph. Because elsie even said "i dont know, this has never happened before" so we know its at least none of the futures she saw
Oh what a time that was seeing our grave that was surreal
Yes, we will die, but our end is OURS to write!! and if at the end we solve the Final Shape, then our end, however we write it will be glorious, fit and proper.
“So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword (weapons) never dry, and may we never need you again.” -King Novic
This line is from Doom Eternal, but if we get this "sacrifice ending", i'd say it fits pretty well.
As Guardians, we've walked through shadow realms (Hive throneworlds, the ascendant plane itself), we stood against evil where no one else could (Oryx, Crota, Savathun, ...), for the retribution part, when can point both to forsaken and also to stop the Witness (taking our retribution for what happened during The Collapse).
For the "may we never need you again" part, may refer to the fact that we were "chosen" by the Traveler (kinda similarly to how Doom guy was chosen by either The Father or Samuel Hayden to be turned into "The Doom Slayer"). When our job will be done, we'll end up like the Doom Slayer, "put to rest", waiting for another ghost to resurrect us whenever the Traveler would need our help again (if it willl continue to exist ofc)
I think when we saw the grave and how much has happened since then I think we've nudged the time-line just enough for us the guardian won't die
13:04 "grafted to machines your builders did not understand" could apply to our Ghost cause guardians life is literally grafted to them
My bf remodeled our home a couple months after Corridors. I specifically chose hexagonal shower tiles in memoriam of that mission lol.
Damm that list of ghost is heartbreaking😢
I saw on the guardians grave there was a sword from destiny the taken king im hoping thats a hint from bungie that the three og swords might return.
I’m not sure how accurate this is since i can’t find it again, but I read somewhere that Defiled Reysk, the Waning Light was the one to kill us and since we killed him we changed our future.
Imagine final shape starting with great fight and we died and whole campaing starts from there. That grave. We find that sword and clues to new power and use it to defeat witness... That would be epic
I hope our guardian doesn't die at the end of Final Shape. I feel after all the grinding they have done, they at least deserve a holiday!
0:21 new meta combo, gunslinger and lucky raspberry 😂
Season of Dawn, one of the best launch trailers in D2
It also implies that whatever killed us is still alive if they are going to kill it and idk what in the lore could kill us and get away other than the witness or something bigger
I forget the season, how it delt with the sundials. We rescued Saint-14; during that even we found out burial sight our Graves
Perfect Paradox was in my top 10 shotguns and I really wish I could use mine at the current power level
Marathon could be the next step in destiny's story and the old games could be it's end
Evaze is hand down the best lord channel for destiny 2
Man i love the lore
I feel like the weapon that they were referring to is the sword on the tomb.
possibly but what may happen is when you complete the last level you redesign your guardian
Well Saint did say he was saved by them(our guardian) before we even actually saved him in this timeline. So just like many versions of the timeline we have seen or come across in either lore or the game and it's seasons. We may have seen our guardian's future grave that may or may be changed. Because he talks as if we saved him once before and it's up to us to change our fate. Saint says "Unless you're still out there somewhere. You've performed miracles before"...so we either die fighting the witness in the Final Shape or some entity kills us. OR We survive all the chaos and forge a new timeline.
Ghost dying and our guardian making their final stand kinda like in halo reach would be so cool. just fighting enemies till your overwhelmed.
9:23 ah yes, the thin line hand cannon lore. I liked the look of that hc.
For some reason I thought that mission meant that the sword on the grave is my favorite weapon
If we get past the portal, then the scene on our Grave where Saint was having a speech might follow.. assuming were dead.. but somehow we got past the portal.. but then we came back through Destiny 3.. Fresh start.. Square one but with new stories up ahead..
I don’t play the game anymore since forsaken but I still like to keep up with the lore so I won’t be far behind
Still baffles me that our Guardian finally has a voice after all this time
That would be awesome if destiny was the prequel to marathon I don't know how that would work but if it did that would be wild
The time line of our guardians grave I think it was the time line from where exo stranger came from think we fell to the darkness in that time line but the current one time line we have balance with light and dark
Awesome episode......really enjoyed this one! Am excited, despite all the talk about 'how sh*t Destiny is now...' about where we're going
Possibly, but even if it is our destiny to sacrifice ourselves for the city, we still are paracausal we can always chart our own destiny.
Imagine bastion becoming the damage meta for the witnesses boss fight
This is the one season i wish didn't skipped, i stopped playing right after i finished forsaken story and when i learned that d2 was going free to play.
I think it may be possible we return how cayde returns in the final shape, possibly leading an army of legendary guardians past against the witness. Anythings possible methinks
Imagine in the final shape our ghost dies and we sacriface ours self to defend the city and the in the end there is a cutsceen of the travel sacrificing him self to revive our guardian
What if that sword on our grave is a pyramid blade. The one key to defeat witness
The universe gets reborn into Marathon
Ya then be reborn with the light inside of us like cayde. We just wake up on the other side of the portal, but we find a way out.
My assumption, is that for a Destiny 3 (or whatever we do), our Guardian dies, then stays dead for a long time, and then is eventually brought back to life, in a world completely changed over the course of hundreds or thousands of years, and we're awakened to help tackle a threat noone else can.
Gives us a good excuse to completely change the landscape of Destiny, where we are, whats happened since, the state of the other races, ect. But it also gives me players a fresh beginning to with the only information needed to know is that we were a once great Guardian.
Maybe on a fresh account you lose your memories, but on a linked D2 account you regain them, and have different dialogue and character interactions.
I was ready for someone to touch on our grave like was people forgetting this.
I would honestly love to start the next D2 storyline / D3 as a new guardian inspired by our current guardians.
I think we'll do something like Saint14 did in the storyline about giving him the Perfect Paradox shotgun
What if the Witness has foreseen our death and thats why it appeared to us in a vision and said they are our salvation. That we die in final shape and are reborn by the witness, which is how we obtain the next darkness subclass.
I like this theory
Im still convinced that it wasn't our guardian specifically, just a version our guardian from a different timeline. Also, we just take the core of the weapon on the grave not the weapon itself and insert it into Bastion. Meaning there could be any weapon on that grave, not necessary Bastion itself.
It would be cool if our guardian died in the final shape. Or even we get separated from ghost and there is a section of mission were we play as our ghost flying around in vents and evading war beasts or taken enemies to reach our guardian to make a triumphant return. But that might “over-deliver” on Bungie’s end. We have to make sure Bungie doesn’t over deliver because that would be oh so bad.
we're gonna enter the traveler and then somehow time travel back to D1, changing our hud and throwing us right into a crucible match
My theory would be that the way to enter the portal that leads into the traveller, you need to die, and we die at the end of the final season this year, just to get resurrected inside the traveller.
It's literally a cycle we first start destiny by being revived
This mighty be a fixed point in time that will happen as a consequence of saving Saint this is a big what if but if Saints death might be something that was always meant to happen but when we saved him we kinda did an exchange for saving Saint we have to die later in the timeline.
My theory is that it’s not literal, but rather the grave represents the last time you sign out or when the servers shutdown, in real life you just stopped playing but in game your guardian just never came back from patrol that’s why the coffin is closed and it’s a blank shell, they never found your ghost or your body, they don’t know what killed you, 6:53 and they even suggest that you could still be out there for the day you feel nostalgic and log in to see destiny again
I know its a bit cliche but I've had this thought of how they could do our death. We get to the last mission of Final Shape and have our chance to fight the Witness. We're able to get it's health bar to a certain point where we are scripted to lose. The Witness kills our Guardian and Ghost finds he has trouble resurrecting us. It looks like we finally lost for good as the game take us back to the main menu as everything is eerily quiet. Then we hear it. The Traveler finally speaks to us and resurrects our Guardian directly for a real final showdown. All while a heavily orchestral version of Journey all the way back from the Red War blares in the background, bringing everyhing full circle.
so if we die... how is the statue gonna look? like what class? what weapons? what armor?
I think the final shape cutscene with Cayde-6 was inside the traveler and Ikora is dead and that's why Cayde-6 is there. I think we die and meet them there
I need to get that sword.
5:33 sounds like into the light, we are defending the last city from the onslaught of the witnesses fleet. Prehaps we fell during this? Or to the witness itself
I think this is a beautiful theory that would give Bungie a fresh start for new and veteran players.
The only hiccup I see is game mechanic-wise. If our guardian and ghost die permanently, what happens to our character afterwards? Maybe it's a "reset before the final battle" and on the last day regardless of whether you play the main campaign or not, you still get to see the ending with your Guardian dying. Maybe we'll get the option to "build a new character" but import our gear and light level.
To die a "final" death would be an excellent way to end the Final Shape! Of course some sort of special revival like Cayde would happen but to see everyone mourning for you would be awesome to see. Then during the ceremony something happens and light explodes from the ground. You come out with your ghost stronger than ever and go on to kill the Witness!
One of my favorite moments in season of dawn
(Also my favorite season ever)
Bungie please don’t ruin this or retcon it or throw it away
Final shape should be the end and we should die
My guardian died when I logged in, got hit with pop up ads, stared at my character screen for 20 sec, and logged back out
One can only hope...
