Damn it's so emotional. When we went out to save Saint 14 I thought as a titan we would go back to following him since he was part of the guardian council before he got lost in the forest looking for Osiris. It never occurred to me just how great the achievements of our character is. Just how monumental the things we accomplished are. We killed Crota, his father Oryx, Xol, who is a whole-ass god, and many more dire threats to humanity. We destroyed the black garden, harnessed darkness itself without falling to its temptations, descended into the vault of glass and destroyed the mind beneath when so many other fireteams failed. The list goes on. And we did all of it. So it makes sense, Saint 14's sermon. We did the impossible time and time again.
Its actually kind of odd, in a way our guardian is like an anomaly. A majority of guardians are normal compared to us. Its strange, how are we capable of such achievements based simply from our actions? How did we become saint 14's mentor? Perhaps it was our destiny to defeat the darkness but at the end of the day our guardian is still a blank slate, an empty shell without a proper background to understand what made them into who they were before they become a guardian and a total badass that slayed multiple gods.

We started with our character being revived in D1 and if Lightfall is what it suggests and we keep going into the darkness and earn more subclasses, then Lightfall could definitely be the end of Destiny, as the darkness has taken over other Guardians in the past.
My theory of all this is that because the room looks incomplete and saint’s voice is echoey, this is a 50/50 timeline that the vex predict. While the vex predictions are incredibly accurate, I say the darkness’s magic space time bendy shit has more power than simple mathematics. Since the darkness isn’t bound by the laws of the universe, I think they might take a liking to us essentially stopping our death from occurring (if it does happen or occur, maybe by savathun seeing as the darkness is going to slap her for preventing communication) PS: I think the next subclasses we get will be necrosis akin to thorn, witch poison, and necrosis grasp. And possibly a new void subclass since void is in a weird in-between spot of light and dark.

This is the alternative universe in which I missed a jump in a Nightfall Strike. The many, many, many, many, MANY alternative universes. Like, the Vex are still trying to count them all up, that many.
If you look at the "wish wall" in Vow of the Disciple, the prophecy that Math Class was able to piece together mentions that Rhulk and the Witness themselves came to the last city to kill us personally. I wonder if our death, the one that the Vex predicted/found in the corridors of time was the timeline in which that prophecy came to fruition.
Our fate would likely have something to do with either the Darkness or the Traveller. To go out by a far lesser enemy such as the hive or any base enemy in the game would be considered kinda low. Something heroic, something humanity won’t ever forget. Not suffer a totally uninteresting death like being harvested by the hive and then silence immediately after.

I can imagine Saint telling the story of our Guardian returning to finish what we started to new lights. "I was there that day. The Last City burning, our people screaming and running. All other Guardians were evacuating the citizens or protecting them. Determined to follow the example of my mentor, I stood before our greatest enemy alone. Without fear of death, as he once did. I fought a losing battle just to buy time for our people to escape. I erected one last Ward with what remained of my strength, convinced it was the end. Then it happened. I heard the sound of a transmat and felt a hand on my shoulder. I expected Zavala, Shaxx, or Ikora. Even Crow. But the voice I heard didn't belong to any of them. 'One true death is enough for the both of us, don't you think?' I turned to see the impossible. The Guardian who defeated Crota, Oryx, Savathuun, Atheon, and a thousand other beings. The Young Wolf and Hero of the Red War. The man who took the Reef by storm and Avenged Cayde-6. My mentor. He defeated death itself and returned to the fight, sword in hand. The weapon he wielded was the same he was buried with at it's core but it had been reforged into something greater. An instrument unbridled power, light and dark swirling within in perfect harmony. The perfect weapon for a Guardian who is very much the same. The battle that ensued rocked the foundations of the Last City and, in the end, the Guardian stood victorious as he had a thousand times before. *Saint-14 picked up the sword than was laying beside him and showed it to the new lights* He said he couldn't remain here very long but he never said why. Said he didn't have time to explain. Nobody has seen or heard from him since. Before he left, he gave me the sword he used that day. Much of its power was lost in the fight but he wanted me to have it. That it originally belonged to me anyway, The blade is still infused with a portion of his light but the darkness within is gone completely. This blade is the legacy every Guardian should know and the Guardian who wielded it is an example every Guardian should strive for. *Saint-14 stood, sword in hand* Let us begin."

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a sequence where we make a new guardian taking on our legacy, kind of making it a full circle experience. Kind of the circle of life from the Lion King lmao.
That only makes sense since we had guardians live and die before us, we're all just part of the neverending battle between light and dark. At some point, one takes on more power than the other, at other points it's the other way around.

We started with our character being revived in D1 and if Lightfall is what it suggests and we keep going into the darkness and earn more subclasses, then Lightfall could definitely be the end of Destiny, as the darkness has taken over other Guardians in the past.
My theory of all this is that because the room looks incomplete and saint’s voice is echoey, this is a 50/50 timeline that the vex predict. While the vex predictions are incredibly accurate, I say the darkness’s magic space time bendy shit has more power than simple mathematics. Since the darkness isn’t bound by the laws of the universe, I think they might take a liking to us essentially stopping our death from occurring (if it does happen or occur, maybe by savathun seeing as the darkness is going to slap her for preventing communication)

And then the guardian and the Exo stranger live happily ever after 😂😂
That would be a noble and legendary ending for Destiny 2 final shape. A duel element sword would be very fucking cool to have
I kinda wish the sword on grave was young wolf's howl
I like to imagine that bastion got destroyed and then remade into a new weapon and that was our favorite weapon
Honestly bastion would have been so popular as a kinetic sword, although a sword even running on special ammo may have been a little...game breaking
Such an amazing story. Ignoring the OBVIOUS downfalls of lightfall we as a community are standing on the precipice of a new age in destiny lore and experiences. I sincerely hope bungie weaves this into the final cinematics of our story. Where we pass from being the guardian and become legend.
I don't know how y'all are still not getting it, but Lightfall is merely a prelude to what's to come. The next seasons will continue the story.
IF BUNGO FORGETS THIS, then it will be big sad
2:20 When saint says “Unless” followed by the rest of his lines always gives me chills
how could you forget the title "the one who wielded the darkness"
Or my favorite: f*cking hacking piece of sh*t
Or That Goddamned Shotgun Ape
Big spoiler but HUUUGE tease for like a year later at the time
The shatter diver
Well... funny getting this recommended to me again...
The fact that Bastion is my guardians "Favorite" gun and I die using is gonna piss me off when I load into a mission 2 years from now and thats the only gun in my inventory
The sword is probably our favorite weapon but it is fused to the grave and bastion was buried with us as one last gift from saint
"She died trying to be a quick fang main"
Gaurdian headstone.
I’m here getting ready for The Final Shape in 5 months
