  • They drove the combine down to the field behind my house and barely got started and had a small hold up. It looked like the entire crew showed up to help. Teamwork!

    That is why:
    A) I don't talk on the phone while i'm operating a big, expensive piece of equipment
    B) if the machine isn't taking the crop in, there is something wrong and doesn't mean to try to keep combining (that's how more stuff breaks)

    I have never seen anybody run that fast

    You can see the tree branch go in at 4:08. Just one of those things that happens.

    I don't think the speed really matters. The combine will keep up. The humidity was probably to high and it started balling up.

    Does this man not know there's a reverse on the feeder and header that would have taken care of a lot of the problem, along with not continuing to go with the clog there.

    • @chaddenton8956
      @chaddenton8956 9 років тому

      On a Mac Don the header doesn't reverse.

    • @PyroVK243
      @PyroVK243 9 років тому

      Ours does, granted its a Case draper but its pretty much a Mac Don with Case shields on the ends.

      Chad Denton Its the feeder house that reverses not he header by itself, the feeder house drives the header maybe your machine does have a feeder house reverser.

    • @chaddenton8956
      @chaddenton8956 9 років тому +1

      True what you said but when you reverse a Mac Don it does NOT reverse the header. It just spits what's in the feeder house back out on to the draper. He choked his feeder and it automatically shut down. He reversed it then had to remove the slug by hand. Routine problem. Anyone who is critical has never run a big machine at full capacity.

      Just to clarify. On an auger header, when you reverse the feeder house the auger will reverse too. Not true on a draper. I've been told the Deere draper does reverse but we run red.

      The guy on the phone is the owner. He should know better.

      If you can't talk on the phone and drive you shouldn't be driving at all.

      Cell phone or a sandwich, no difference. S^*t happens and that's the way it is. The old red combine choked at the rotor.

    JD was later with the Rotor cause they spent more time designing like the feeder chain won't plug the Rotor

      JD designed the rotor for rocks the 10,000.00 ones. Lol.

    This why you don't let some owners run machines. With no experience.

    Driving a little fast should be in slower gear

    Plugged up the feeder house because he was running too fast.

      I think you have a good grasp of events. It also appeared that he had a fallen branch gumming up the feeder.

      Yeah, I saw that branch. That certainly didn't help.

    running it to fast aint giving it time to eat. smh . just because its a big combine with a big mac don header doesnt mean anything . slow down 1 gear 2.5 or 3.0 is fast enough
