This is absolutely my dream pocket groovebox. I don't usually preorder things, but I preordered it immediately. I can't say that about any other sampler I own, like the PO33, Vocla Sample 2, even my circuit rhythm. I think I finally found my perfect sampler.
Every new device in this series is so much more advanced and awesome! The lack of direct control and visual feedback makes it probably not a good fit for me personally, but this amount of sampling and effects capabilities for this size & price is incredible

@@CatFish107I have a T-8 and I couldn't get it to pass the Mix In input through the USB C to my PC. I think it only mixes after the device's audio has been converted to analog.

I got one, and fun thing about the granular... since you can control the playhead speed, you can use it to timewarp samples! So I've set up the last pattern in memory to have the granular set up with the best settings for that, so then you just set the playhead speed such that the sample ends up as fast or as slow as you want, then resample it back to a pad, and bam... timewarp. Considering that timewarping IS fundamentally a form of granular synth, I'm surprised they don't have a little macro do do that automatically
It's honestly more what I wanted the SP-404 to be, especially with the separate pads, chromatic *and* granular! The 404 is very cool, but it can be too much and it is a bit bulky in some circumstances. Awesome free flowing walk through. Dig it.
Exactly. I think this is more interesting than a 404, more modern, making better use of the BMC chip. It's just lacking a decent screen, and wouldn't it have been so nice if you could've saved the entire memory into a Project? I really enjoy this sampler, but the charging issues are becoming quite frustrating. Has anyone experienced this problem? How do you power your sampler?
Hey Jorb can I ask you a honest question.. all I want is to chop samples and add drums to it.. on the go preferably.. I use serato sampler and just love the ease to chop and stretch samples .. @@triplebeam23 chopping isn't that great unless things are really locked into time. And it *does not* time stretch, pitch is tied to speed everywhere except the shifter effect.
I just ordered a P-6 for a portable setup to go travelling. My plan is to use it with my phone where I can access Splice to sample from. For chopping and time streching samples I'm gonna use Koala Sampler on my phone before recording the sample into the P-6. I think that will be a great portable combo fitting all our needs.

Do you think it's possible to mod these boxes and put an OLED screen with all of the menu settings and a waveform? Don't get me wrong, I understand what these boxes are supposed to be but It feels like (and especially this P-6 and the S-1) that they could really benefit from a screen upgrade.
ugh, I need a sampler, I have a volca sample but it's way too cumbersome to add samples (66% of my cables never work) and I've liked my other Aira's but was also looking at the KO2 as a not-break-the-bank. My brain is a HAPAX so dont really care about sequencing (I think?) Any thoughts on this vs the ko2? or worth going to a used digitakt 1? seen them under 500 once in awhile....
There's some good samplers out there. Even older ones. Have you considered the lofi12 XT? Or even the Novations Circuit Rhythm. I heard those are pretty nice. This new P6 looks really dope. I just hope the menu diving doesn't become an issue workflow wise lol
I've had the Volca Sampler 2 and the Elektron Model Samples but never a true sampler. I do like sequencing and have been undecided about purchasing a Digitakt forever. I got the P-6 and really enjoy it so far, especially quick easy sampling in many ways. I think it may be all I really need but I could grow tired of the tiny fiddly interface and upgrade to Digitakt.
looks like im gonna need to order 7 more Tall Trimmer Pots from THONK! maybe the oxblood for the yellow 3 and black for the 4 on the right. not a fan of the yellow base at all, but you dont see that much from the top
What’s the midi implementation like? The S-1 has full midi cc for each function, the other ROLca’s do not. If all these functions are accessible via midi cc this thing can be more useful than intended.
different behavior can be set to different channels, like one channel controls the grainular, one channel each key can trigger a different sample (velocity too if your controller sends it), another channel triggers whatever is currently selected chromatically or sth. menu dive to change midi settings. hopefully a pdf of the manual is available?

They should have made it in the vertical form factor, similar to the sp303. However I suppose that would be a departure from the form factor of the series. Interesting either way, I’ll probably wait for a reissue of the sp 202/303
I would throw up if they released a box that looks like a 202 but had a few simple modern upgrades. Throw up in excitement.
This is insane iv got the t8 and j6 gonna have to grab this I always seid they need to bring out an aira sampler
Does the usb audio send multiple channels, or just a single stereo one to the DAW? I don't even know why I'm asking, mine arrives Monday, lol
wowww resample method beats live on
There are still some things that make the Volca Sample interesting if you use it in unintended ways.
I'm a drummer and guess what SLOW DOWN AND SHOW WHAT EACH PAD SOUNDS LIKE
Pair with Op-Z perhaps? Ugh... I love samplers. Especially battery powered ones.
Sweet looks fun
What is that round desk oscilloscope. That thing is dope!
@@RobbyDanksworth just a mirror pointed at my fullsize scope!
@@JorbLovesGear Very cool Idea!
looks like im gonna need to order 7 more Tall Trimmer Pots from THONK!
maybe the oxblood for the yellow 3 and black for the 4 on the right. not a fan of the yellow base at all, but you dont see that much from the top
Those factory samples seem to be the same ones from sp 404 mk2 🤔
I heard a snare and thought the same thing lmao.
here for a Jorb asmr channel

Can this be used as a live effects processor for something like a turntable?
Only 48 samples in total? What year is this being released, 1992
When music was 100x better, aye. And that's one of the reasons. The limitations cliche/truism.
They sell other sampling products.
What’s the midi implementation like? The S-1 has full midi cc for each function, the other ROLca’s do not. If all these functions are accessible via midi cc this thing can be more useful than intended.
different behavior can be set to different channels, like one channel controls the grainular, one channel each key can trigger a different sample (velocity too if your controller sends it), another channel triggers whatever is currently selected chromatically or sth. menu dive to change midi settings. hopefully a pdf of the manual is available?
this is exactly what I don’t need.
