@Laressliss I have a Rhythm as well, but will also go for this one. The Rhythm has a lot of advantages, like 8 sequencer tracks, longer samples, better chopping, and way better workflow (than any Roland device). However, this one offers stereo sampling, polyphony and the SP404 FX. I guess they complement well.
@Laressliss Plus, the Rhythm is actually a very good knob controller. It has endless encoders, which put out midi CC messages. The 8 tracks have individual midi channels. Thank you for the demo! 2 questions. Can you sample while the sequence is playing?? And can it be connected to a tablet or phone instead of computer? Thanks again
Can you use it as an Fx box like the sp404 run say a 909 thru it for the compression but not use it to sample but go into my daw? Live Fx I believe is what it’s called
Very conflicting info on Roland' part. It says 16 bits in specs on official site, but manual says it can use 24 bit samples. Also manual says it can be used as USB hard drive to move samples in and out, but first reviewers said you need proprietary software. So i'm kinda lost. It seems like manual was made with future software update in mind? Let's hope so.
You don't actually need the proprietary software, but the process is a little less user friendly without it. You have to put it in a special USB drive mode by holding the sampling button when you turn it on. A drive will show up on your computer containing a bunch of empty directories. At that point, you can drag and drop samples from your computer to those folders. Then, when you're done, you have to press the "WRITE" button on the sampler and it will copy the samples from the directories to the pads. Then you turn it off and then on again and your samples will be on it.

@@DavidHilowitzMusic I read the pdf manual and there is no mention of pattern chaining
And, if memory serves, there's a different mode for retrieving the samples FROM the device
@@DavidHilowitzMusic That's a nice workflow! I just can't believe it's only 48 samples. I have 20 year old machines with more than that
@@DavidHilowitzMusic thank you! now i got it!
Love it! Thanks for the video!
(I want one of these... but is it actually GAS?)
This could be my first dedicated beat-making device!!
Excellent video.
How big is the total memory size for sampling? (In lenght of time, not in MB)
Nice video.....very clear!
Does this have a built in speaker and battery?
This is pretty cool ❤😊
How do you save your projects?
Has a feeling of the Zoom Sampletrak to it. Not a bad thing at all.
My kalimba won’t trigger the sampler. What settings did you use to sample it?
It's pretty cool. Why did you have it for 2 weeks ?
