    For the Gazebo, add in a pair of diagonal supports to transfer the load from where the post was to the posts on either side, this will prevent the sag, prevent future pain and suffering and still keep an open area for you.

      @BestLittleStudio 4 дні тому

      @@ChadsCustomCreations Note that it does not have to be at 45 degrees, that would close off the opening too much and frankly look terrible, but from the bottom of the existing 45-degree supports at the top of each post, to where the old post was would transfer that load, and if you wanted it, be a great spot for a sun shade as it looks like the mid-day sun shines right in there so a shade would be nice.

    Cannonball. Fantastic idea, well executed. It addresses most of the vulnerabilities of an above ground pool I. E. UV & having to climb over the side walls. A nail gun would have speeded up the deck laying. And have probably spread the load of the post footers by putting them on paving/flag stones. If they start sinking you could use pit prop either side to support while you dig enough clearance to slide under a concrete flag.

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  20 днів тому

      That’s a great idea on improving the footers I hope it doesn’t come it that but if it does that sounds like a great quick solution. Our original decking was put in with nails and annoyingly they do work themselves up and out over time but these might not be ring shank like I used for the framing, those jokers hold in great.

    My gosh, we have trailers too! And I probably could have helped load the wood on the trailer for you, next time call or text. Once it is dark, AJ normally allows us to stop working 😅.
    This video is so good, I am highly impressed. I love story videos like this. It is like home videos without all the extra people don't care to see. That is what I like about our videos as well, it is so neat to see the projects that we did over time and see where we were and where we are now as well as seeing us grow over time.
    Anyways, that is fancy! And looks so good! I'm sure it will last, but if not, you made it so easy to correct, we can always use jacks and correct anything that needs to be done.
    Also, I realized at our age, we now need high quality vitamins, it makes a world of a difference. So glad you enjoyed Mator (the tractor)🥰. Thanks for the shout-out ❤️-Nikki

I’ll probably leave it up for a bit more and pray it picks up in the search results if not I am going to remove this one do a little re-edit and put it over on a second channel dedicated to outdoor projects and such.

      @@ChadsCustomCreations I find that so strange, my absolute favorite videos are the more personal ones like this with a good storyline. Oddly a video AJ made that was boring as get out to me 😅, got so many views it is ridiculous. I figured it like this, because we are not of this world, people will find what we like as not amusing. I was telling Zoey I am thinking about putting her in a Christian school down the road from us due to her school becoming so worldly. She protested saying, "Those kids are weird." I said, "Weird how?". She said, "They have dry humor and are super good, like they don't know how to have fun." I was stunned and instantly thought of the versus in the Bible where it speaks of how Christians will be seen as strange/weird for not partaking in the worldly things-
      1 Peter 4:3-4, 15-16 (KJV) For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
      Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
      But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
      Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
      It made me think even more that she needs to be in that school. But first I have her going to a praise and worship event out of town for a weekend that should set her soul on fire 🙌. I see she seeks God, she is just lost on how to do so, I pray that God will bring her a spiritual experience that will impact her for life, like He did for me. I could write a book on this 😅 sorry 😂

Lucky I was outside and heard the splash. I was thankfully in the water and had her out before she even sucked any water down the wrong way.

    Fun fact, when the "deck incident" happeend on Reddit, I was a member of the Reddit DIY moderation team. We tried to keep that under control, but there was no stopping the experts lol.

      During the blackout due to the API issue, we all agreed to basically stop moderating and let the place be a free for all, while only handling TOS violations. A couple of months back, the Reddit admins said either we start moderating again, or they would appoint their own moderator and kick us all out. So we appointed a new guy who wanted to moderate, and he is doing it all himself now, it took him less than a week to realize why having an API and access to those moderation tools is essential to a subreddit of that size.
      Now he is just as annoyed as we were.

    The deck looks great, at least for now. I think it would have been worth it to take a step back and reposition those footings for the pool legs.
    Also, using traditional wood boards for a deck is fine, but I'd be very hesitant to use them around a swimming pool. I know you were trying to keep costs down, but I think this is one of those times where spending extra money on composite boards would save you money in the long run.
    All in all though, the end result looks great and the price point you were able to hit is impressive.

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  2 дні тому

      Thank you, I think you are right, definitely would have been worth the extra few hours to make sure those legs ended up in the center for those blocks. We did talk about composite decking but with the need for 12” spacing on joist and the cost we went with standard decking boards
      To stick with the original look of the old deck. With the pool being a salt water pool it will probably fast forward the life of the wood but it will be an interesting experiment to see how long they last especially right around the pool.

    Cannonball!!! She did good but you need us to show your Cannonball in the pool. 😅. Im not a builder at all. But I think it looks great. And if you went on with the building how the old deck was. You'll be alright. I would be proud of it. Because the hole thing looks awesome.
    Only thing I would say is make a load baring test before the moving deck goes in and you'll be good.
    Ps the people on the Internet saying all the bad stuff. Probably have there own decking crooked and now want one like yours. 😅 😅 😅

      @ChadsCustomCreations  19 днів тому +1

      Yes I think you’re right about the additional deck that will definitely add a substantial amount of weight to it. Reddit I known for snarky people I personally enjoy reading what they have to say 😂 thanks for watching and watching til the end!

    Curious what regulations you have over in the US as here in Australia needs a fence children can't climb with a gate they cant open around all pool areas to prevent drowning, interesting seeing what other countries have and don't have as a requirement for a pool.
    Love this build, turned out pretty great.

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  19 днів тому +1

      I think it depends on the city here in the US where I live I don’t believe they enforce it but I made sure to put up gates at each stairway, and a security lock to the deck door leading out from the house. Pool deaths with young kids are no joke and me and the family have sat down and talked many times about our strict rules with this pool.

    A cheap pool in the summer makes such a difference. I always say, once your floating, catching some rays with you eyes closed and a beverage in your hand, you could be almost anywhere. Andaman sea or a plastic pool in the dirt, it feels pretty dang nice.
    And whats nice, if you decide you dont want a pool anymore, just toss it, no need to bust out a jackhammer and spend another fortune to be rid of it.

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  20 днів тому

      You’re thinking is right on with my choice for the above ground pool. My wife and I every summer with how hot it gets here we always say we are moving north, now with this we look forward to the heat and looks like we are staying for a bit longer now.
      Thanks for watching til the end!
