Rob May I suggest that you try The original 1934 don the beachcomber recipe rather than the adopted smugglers Cove version. In the recipe you just made essentially you put in 3 ounces of the same column style rum when you chose the Havana club and Angosta rums. the original Don the beachcomber recipe called for 1 1/2 ounces gold Puerto Rican rum sub in the Havana club or Ango if you don’t have the Puerto Rican 1 1/2 ounces gold or dark Jamaican rum -Smith and Cross And one ounce of 151 Put some Smith and Cross in the original don the beachcomber recipe and then you’ll be kicking it brother Cheers
Yea adding S&C would def kick it up a notch! Only thing I don’t like about the original recipe is the Don’s Mixes.. I don’t like pre mixing ingredients and never remember the ratios
Thanks Rob! Interesting video! Super informative! I'm not a Tiki fan but for people who love them this will be fabulous!! Hey I picked up a case of Lagavulin 11 Offerman 4th Edition this morning! $119 before taxes in BC and well worth it. The lovely combination of Lagavulin smoke and rum casking is delicious! You will love it! Cheers!
What timing! I've been making some of the more basic tiki cocktails recently and this weekend I was thinking I'd try my hand at a Zombie. 🧟 I will definitely use Donn's recipe, and I'm going to work in some Smith & Cross, too. Thanks! Great video.
Funny enough, I've never had a Zombie. I've had the Undead Gentleman though. Remember thinking to myself it would be better over crushed ice too. Cheers! ✌🏽
Cool video, I went to my work the other day, had one of these and made a fool of myself lol. Also I need someone to count how many times he says rum in this video
They’re different no doubt, but they’re both pot still Jamaican rums and both have that distinctive “rum funk” …they’re much closer in taste than say S&C and ED12 for example
IT's ok to use what you have , but at least similar Rum, i mean Puerto Rico is a light rum, you can use a plantation but not dark, a 3 stars would be good or even a bacardi or Havana 1. Nice video , cheers from Italy :)
Yea I’m i’m not sure which kind of rum it’s specified, I’m used to recipes specifying, white rum or dark rum, this one just said Puerto Rican rum 🤦♂️😜 cheers!!
I haven't had a lot of tiki's but the ZOMBIE is my favorite. Hope you had someone to share these with. cheers
I enjoyed one yesterday and one today… still have one more to go.. if you strain the ice out, they’ll keep in the fridge for a few days
Very informative Rob 😎
Thanks!! Cheers! 🍹🌴
My favorite tiki! My favorite variation is the Aku Aku Zombie. Highly recommend trying it. Cheers!
I don’t make it too often but it’s damn good!

I’m thinking of ordering it! I absolutely love rum cask whiskies so this is perfect!!
@@RobsHomeBar If this Lagavulin isn't on the liquor store shelves I'd order it! Lovely expression!! I am sipping a delicious dram right now! Cheers!

You're missing out, my friend.
The undead is literally just the zombie serves up! When i first got into tiki, i made the zombie often!
Do you have a website with recipes or could you put them in the description?
I’m working on a website at the moment! … for the moment, I’ll put them in the description

Hahaha… rum counter on the next tiki video 😜
Plantation Xaymaca and Smith & Cross are similar to each other (flavor wise) as much as milk and water... So basically very different in my opinion.

so many rums to have on hand
You don’t need to use all of those.. but it’s fun to experiment with different styles
@@RobsHomeBar ya
I just use similar ones
Yeah, I gotta make more Zombies...
Do it !! Such a good drink!
ROB! I smashed the SUBSCRIBE button, but it now tells me I'm unsubscribed. WHAT DID I DO WRONG!????
😂😂 the instructions were quite clear “**IF**you’re finding me for the first time” …pay attention next time!! 😜
