I use my NAM with the free Kushview Element plugin. It allows you to create a signal chain with plugins with your audio interface just like you would a signal chain on your amp. Cabs, pedals, eq, splitters, whatever you need on a pedal board. Then, you can use that signal chain as one plugin in your DAW. Pretty sweet setup. And FREE!
@@stevenkambach There's not a lot of videos on the Kushview Element, and I'm sure it's capable of more than what I use it for, but just being able to use an infinite plugin signal chain as only one plugin on your DAW is awesome. The possibilities are endless.
I forgot I had come across Elements before. I was looking hard at Gig Performer since it appears to have the ability to integrate a scenes/snapshots feature. Does Element do this as well? Talking about turning plugins on/off on the chain within a Elements preset without having to switch to a different preset and simultaneously sending batches of midi CC or PC codes to specific plugins (e.g. to tun a effect off or change a preset in Amplitube)?
@Tiger1016. If I understand what you're asking, yes. I have several different amp plugins as well as echo, delay, compressors, and equalizers all in the same chain that I can turn on and off according to what sound I need.
@@Mick.Fitzmaurice The Scenes/Snapshots concept I am referring to is something you can find in an Axe Fx, Helix (both hardware and Native), and Quad Cortex. 1. Yes, but it will sound like an acoustic going into an amp. If that's what you're going for, then awesome, but it probably won't sound like an electric guitar. 2. I would recommend a USB audio interface instead of using adapters to get into the computer. The interface is built for that, the inputs on a computer are not designed for a guitar signal. There are some implementations on some DSP hardware, like tonex. I saw it also on a raspberry. We just need one guy who is into the DSP world, to create a NAM pedal. I assume the hardware parts price would be below 50 bucks.
@@UltimateEngineering I’ve since seen a Mod Dwarf pedal/product that can store a particular type of NAM capture file. Surely this is the way it has to go with this. Doesn’t need to be like a tonex just a simple basic digital pedal for storing a few and minor tweaks. Leave the capturing and nitty gritty to home PCs
@@clintwhite3021 I got you, it still needs to be a DSP, maybe two knobs for switching captures, maybe display for showing the name of it and usb, bluetooth, whatever, for datatransfer. Not in the way I think you are suggesting. I think you would have go thru the process of making a new profile with whatever updates. It's not as simple as "save"
@@stevenkambach I see ok, thanks. I guess creating a new profile demands knowing about programming isn't it? That is out of my reach so I will just use existing ones. Thanks so much for aswering!
For some reason this didn’t sound great when I tried but I’m willing to try again! I was also wondering if there was any way to find tones for certain songs or am I better off actually doing research into what amps my favorite artists use? Thank you so much for the information!
Probably better off learning which gear they use. Some people has make band specific profiles, but it is not very common so you might not find the band you are looking for, but the gear the band used is probably up there on Tonehunt. If you are looking for specific tones for early Metallica, John Mayer, Van Halen, or Iron Maiden, the crew at Neutron Studios have made "producer packs" which are a bunch of NAM profiles that emulate the whole guitar signal chain on specific albums to get the most accurate album tones from NAM. I'd recommend checking them out if those happen to be one of the bands you are looking for 👍
Something that makes a huge difference is gain staging... I'm currently in the midst of finding this out - so apparently when you plug your guitar directly into your audio interface, you're supposed to turn on the instrument knob and then set the gain knob all the way to zero. I never knew this. And then you look up the maximum input level of your audio interfaces instrument input, and adjust the input to the NAM accordingly (my audio interface has a max input of 11,5 dBu so I did not adjust the input gain of the NAM at all, and it seems to sound good.) The problem with NAM is that you never know what input level the models are expecting, so it's a bit of triel and error
The latest attempt when using it with Mixcraft, it started and then SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I guess I can try it with something like Audacity but I don't see much point. I'm chalking this up to the Irig HDX being a piece of junk rather than anything to do with NAM. I thought it was going to be easy to use, but I guess I was wrong. Honestly, I find it easier to just hook up to a practice amp and plug in a pair of headphones.
If the person who made the profile wrote anything in the description, I copy/paste it into a text file and throw it into the folder. There really should be a standard on doing that. Maybe a form when they submit? I don't know.
I really don’t understand how to train and have watched many videos . There’s got to be an easy button ? I know how to search other people’s captures but that’s all
@@stevenkambach what s that supposed to mean, lol. The fx should be in the box. It doesn t have s/r also. This is very incomplete. At least kemper were smarter with the effects
@gibson2623 I understand. This is new, open source, and free. This is for profiling gear and you cannot profile most effects because they are time based. You have to model most fx. Can you profile a delay pedal with a Kemper? Technically still in the beta stage. Kempers are great too tho 👍

TYSM, earned a subsrciber
Thank you ❤️
Has someone made a simple pedal with the basic EQ and gain, level that can store just 1 profile so you can use it live?
Not that I know of. That would be cool tho 😎
I think that would be like one programmer with DSP knowledge programming and testing for one month. Maybe we should do a petetion an collect money for a freelancer, who will do the job.
@@UltimateEngineering Ok thanks for the info. Could be a big demand.
can you modify and save your own profiles?
Not in the way I think you are suggesting. I think you would have go thru the process of making a new profile with whatever updates. It's not as simple as "save"
@@stevenkambach hi, thanks! so, if I modify an existing profile, am I allowed to save those modifications? Sorry I couldn't try it by miself.
@@mjaa1307 you are allowed to do whatever you want, but you can't just "save" a new profile. You'd have to make a whole new profile
@@stevenkambach I see ok, thanks. I guess creating a new profile demands knowing about programming isn't it? That is out of my reach so I will just use existing ones. Thanks so much for aswering!
i love open source! anarchy works
anyone can make this more UI friendly and it can still be open source, and i bet they will! great video
It doesn't work with IK Multimedia's Irig HD X.
@@RobotShlomo strange. Do all other plugins work as they should?
@@stevenkambach I can't get any sound at all out of it.
Now it won't even start. I'm going to try re-installing it before finally calling it quits.
This sounds good but it truly is the worst nightmare model of option overload
You are absolutely correct 👍 and many of those options are not good 😆
You look like Steven Atkinson founder of N.A.M.
I'm Steve Atk from Temu 👍
wish i could find that nam

@@stevenkambach sweet.
If the person who made the profile wrote anything in the description, I copy/paste it into a text file and throw it into the folder. There really should be a standard on doing that. Maybe a form when they submit? I don't know.
That would be cool. There are a lot of things like that that would make the experience better. Looking forward to seeing where things go from here
I agree, such info should be included in the profile by default. Maybe someone can forward this request to the developer?
how do i get an ir?
There are several on Tonehunt.org or look through my Playlists to find a whole bunch of free IRs
Ur awesome
❤️
Thiz iz good for kids that cant afford purchase anything. Hey .. its free .. you cant complain too much 🤷♂️
Probably a bit too complicated for kids 🙏
I really don’t understand how to train and have watched many videos . There’s got to be an easy button ? I know how to search other people’s captures but that’s all
I have never done it so I am not much help. There should be instructions at neuralampmodeler.com
Yup I’ve read …watched instructions …crazy complicated “for me “….cool idea though ….sounds close to a real rig
@JonRayRunawayVealMusic I get that. Sorry I am no help

wait is this real? holy shit this is crazy
how have i not known this
Welcome 🙏
No FX?
Nope. Just amp profiles for now! Plenty of free FX plugins out there tho
@@stevenkambach the kemper has built in effects. And they are good. Take care mate. I know what you meant.
Dumb question probably…do you have to have a DAW to just play?
I believe there is a standalone version, but I have not tried it
weird they have 1k less IRs a month later on tonehunt
That is weird. I've always gotten my IRs From elsewhere tho.
what do you recommend? I don't play guitar at all so all of this is foreign to me but I use ableton's stock amp plugin a lot for sound design and I wanted to branch out with more diverse sounds. @@stevenkambach
you didn't explain where to get an ir from, you just loaded it
Tonehunt.org or Google it. IRs have been around for decades. NAM is within the past couple years
Theres no vst with the install you completly skip over where to find it ive looked everywhere
Neuralampmodeler.com should have everything for you. Downloads, instructions, all that.
@stevenkambach there was none I found out how to do it thank you
1. Neuralampmodeler.com
2. "PLAY"
3. Scroll down to "SNAPSHOT PLUGIN"
4. Select either "WINDOWNS INSTALLER" if you are using windows or "MACOS INSTALLER" if you are using a mac
5. Follow the install and setup instructions.
6. Scan and load it up in your DAW or use the standalone plugin.
