I’ve had DurGod for a bit, one of my favorites. I did have to return one of them because the middle line buttons stopped working but honestly incredible keyboard!
Your description link for the durgod leads to a 65% version. May wanna check that, I'm not complaining tho because I wanted exactly that EDIT: went with the 60% venus and got it delivered this morning. Gotta say I don't miss the arrow keys nearly as much as I had thought I would.
@@tatedoh I went with gateron browns. I've only ever used romer gs at home and silent reds at work. This feel so nice. I thought I would really miss the arrow keys because I spend a lot of time in a text editor programming, but I assigned fn1 + j,k,l,i to left, down, right, up and it feels real nice never leaving the home row to use arrows. Feels like I'm in vim all the time but it's pretty awesome.
Foam pad the Ducky between pcb and case bottom - 3mm neoprene foam is dirt cheap & 5-6 screws to undo? You could keep the better build quality and fix the sound. Just a thought.
I think you should do a video where you build a ali cased 60% keyboard which matches the budget of these and see if you can do better going custom. Although that might just be an excuse to see you do more keyboard stuff.
After having issues with two One 2 Minis that I ordered, I took a chance and ordered a Durgod Venus... Commenting before watching and hoping I didn't make a bad decision. I have hardly seen any reviews on this keyboard but people seem to say good things about Durgod. EDIT: Feeling a lot better after hearing that sound test, I can't wait for it to arrive now!
@Complaint I just got it today, so far I'm loving it! Feels amazing to type on, I got it with MX Browns. The software could be better but it's more than usable.
I have bought 2 mechanical keboards, both have been Ducky. A shine 3 in 2013 and a shine 7 RGB in 2019. They are both awesome. The sound does not bother me, but the feel does. I know Cherry MX Brown is the right switch for me. Only thing wrong with the shine 3 after 6 years is lack of RGB and mini USB connector on the KB side.
The Ducky is rarely if ever in stock and won't be restocked for several months (ETA March). It's only available from one retailer inside the US, ala mechanicalkeyboards.com, so that's a no-go unless you're willing to wait 3 months and you're lucky enough to snag one while it's in stock. Durgod is available on Amazon and several other vendors, plus it ships via Prime for members. Returns/exchanges are simple this way and hassle-free if you change your mind or have any issues, which may be a factor in the purchase decision for some consumers. I'd call build quality a tie at best given that they are nearly identical, but I have an inclination to say that the Durgod slightly edges out Ducky here because of its factory lubed stabilizers and noise-dampening foam pad. Durgod screams quality + value, while I feel that Ducky represents trendiness and artisanship. The Ducky is fine, but the lack of comprehensive software honestly leaves a lot to be desired and their manuals are often very confusing to first-time Ducky keeb users. Ducky can't bind any application to launch, but the Durgod can (via software), so I say go Durgod and don't look back.
I agree with a lot of your points Frank, but the Venus is built just as well as the Ducky is in terms of rigidity and quality. In reference to the accessories section: very few people are buying keyboard for the accessories (a key cap puller and some extra keycaps, if that werethe case they could be a cheap Redragon keyboard and order keycaps for that) so I think that’s a moot point. I think for price options Ducky is at a solid price point but the variety of price ranges makes the Durgod a bit superior here. I do like this format though, good video.
damo h I have both Ducky mini and Venus 60% KB’s. My Ducky is cherry brown and my Venus are cherry blues. I have to say in my opinion the Venus has a better quality on there keycaps and switches especial them being lubed out the box. I love mine, the only complaint is I wish it had legs to flip out like the ducky under the KB. But it’s not a deal breaker for me.
I just bought a Durgod Venus with MX silent reds. Dropped some HK black and orange pudding caps, custom space bar and braided orange USB C cable.. I FUCKING LOVE THIS THING. It’s so QUIET. What really sold me was the LED indicators and Hera compiler on the Venus. Not having software to customize the Ducky was an instant deal breaker for me.
Ughh i still cant choose the durgod venus wins the sound test (by far might i add) and theres not much else different to me so what do you think i should go with? Im leaning towards durgod venus
you honestly can' t go wrong with either board. just get the only that has the switches you like. it's nice to see durgod gives all these switch options. I got mine in a few days ago with gateron silent browns, and they sound great. i will say the stabs on the durgod feel/sound way better than the ones on my ducky when comparing them side by side. my mecha mini is still one of my favorite (non-custom) boards.
MrFortNate should I get kailh box browns instead of gateron silent browns I heard gateron is more wobbly and less smooth than kailh box but I also heard kailh box browns become clicky once’s the lube wears off
I'm confused. How'd you get the Gateron Silent Browns in the Venus? In the Amazon link for Gateron switches it only has Blues and the only brown switch is Kailh. Does any know about the Kailh Box Brown switches? How do they compare to Cherry MX Browns? I'm trying to decide between the two and if the Kailh's are kinda meh, then I'm going Ducky.
@@vaudou_ Yeah, that's what I mean. I've never seen it listed with those. But I decided to just build my own custom board. It was expensive. God damn was it worth it, though. I love the sound, feel and the look.
I think Durgod makes the absolute best keyboards. Granted, I don't have lot of keyboards to compare, but I've got a Massdrop CTRL (Halo True switches), a Durgod Taurus K310 (Cherry MX Blue switches), and a KeyCool 84 (Gateron Blue switches). The Durgod is much more solidly built, and the factory lubed stabilizers make a huge difference.
Can you use the Ducky Mecha Mini on a MacBook Pro? On Mechanical Keyboards, the Ducky Mecha Mini v2 is listed as not being compatible with Mac whereas the Frozen Llama version is listed as having a limited compatibility with Mac. Has anyone tried any on a Mac?
