Thanks very much for sharing your video. Very helpful and took some of the fear out of tackling this job. Strongly recommend that anyone doing this job should get hold of a Flexible Long Reach Locking Hose Clamp Removal Pliers with Ratchet Tool. Less than £15 on ebay. Made an awkward job so much easier. I'd also recommend having the rear breather hose (A2710160481) to hand as when I replaced the front breather hose (which had a large hole in it only visible when removed) I noticed the rear hose, although not split, was "squidgy", collapsed and possibly on its way out. I didn't have one so ended up doing the whole job twice!! When replacing the airbox, the two bolts that drop down and get in the way can be "held up" by strategically placing pieces of card which can be pulled away once the airbox is in place. Great video - thanks.
Your very welcome 🙏 and am really happy you shared your experience and give us some recommendations and tips on the job, every helps really appreciate it.
Thank you for posting this video, it was very helpfull in clarifing how the air box is removed. It took me ages to work out where the air leak and hiss was coming from , visiblity and access is very poor so thanks again.
If the hose is stuck is it acceptable to spray some form of lubricant onto the hose or down the hose pipe to help loosen it? Also what sort of lubricant can you use on the new hose? Excuse my ignorance I’m thinking of doing this myself and I just need to get the correct stuff before attempting it. I’m just scared of putting something on the pipe and it rots it quickly or it gets into the engine and causes problems later.
Hi, the part that I changed in this video is this part number a2710181282, so if you check the hose on your car and find it has some cracks or its flat then you can change that hose.
Hi , i have a problem with c180 kompressor . When i hit the brakes the RPM starts going up and down right before stopping, Sometimes the engine turns off
With that problematic clamp, would moving the wiring loom on the right out of the way help? Also that loom seems to have a deep cut at the top near the hole for the box. Great explanation of the steps and tools required!
That tool for the clamp is God sent hehehe, the clap is problematic but if you try doing it the traditional way it will take you for ever, the tool helps a lot. the loom is ok to be honest, hope the vid helps you. :)
Just finished this job successfully, thanks to your excellent instructions! Sorry I meant the breather hose clamp. The electrical loom is visible just to the right of your fingers at 9:51. Trace it up to the top and the crease/cut is visible. Slide the metal clip out and move this loom out of the way to get a bit more room. The main problem I had was getting the air-box slotted into the air hole, despite using that really nifty clamp tool. The trick, which I should have noted from your video was to use some WD-40 to make it slide in. To get the breather hose off and on, I used an 11" Long Reach Hose Ring Grip, Round Nose Pliers. A flexible hose nut driver tool is also useful for tightening the breather hose clamp, but the hose clamp has to be near the top (see video, about 22:09; hint: tape the nut socket so it doesn't come off the tool!). Yes, the breather hose did have a slit so hopefully the car will run better now. Many thanks again for the great video! Cheers
Your right, be patient and don't panic. I tried following day after 2 hours of frustration and got it on second attempt. This may have helped also - I soaked the end in some boiling water and then pushed a sealant nozzle into it and left overnight. This may have stretched it open just enough to help it slip on. I used the same angle of approach as you did in the video...it helps getting an aim on the valve. Getting some good lighting on the target area also helps. Thanks for your videos on this subject. Use some wd40. That will help a lot. It’s safe to use. You only need a little.
What size hose can i get at autozone for the replacement please?

Have you changed the crankcase breather hose yet ?

Well done! But WD40 is NOT a grease!
I agree 🙃

any idea the diameter of the hose? looking to change most of mine to silicone hoses
Sorry haven't got access to one so I cant really measure it..
im struggling to get the hose on the inside valve
Take your time and you need lots of patience it’s not easy, but you could warm up the hose a little so it can be a bit more flexible.
