We service / repair Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Kawasaki, John Deere, Cub Cadet, Toro Tecumseh, Loncin, Honda, Craftsman, Husqvarna, MTD, Troy Bilt, Simplicity, John Deere, Exmark, LCT, Generac and many more brands. We work on riding mowers, walk behind mowers, snow blowers, zero turns, generators, pressure washers and much more. We normally repair about 3,000 pieces of equipment every year and look at many more that are beyond an affordable repair. Hopefully our videos will save you some money and give you the information you need to work on your own equipment or figure out the issue at hand.

I appreciate you watching!
Mr. Martin, the next time you have both machines in the shop, see if the "John Deere" 724cc filter will fit the air box on the EXI 2200 that uses the small round filter. That O-ring you thought you'd never use in your kit came in handy after all. I worked for a heavy equipment dealer in Raleigh back in the 80's, and one of my duties was Aeroquip dude. I had everything in stock to make any hose for any machine. There was this Komatsu O-ring kit that had those fat silicone O-rings....that I never used. They had the "jiggle" that would be perfecto for this application. It'll be taller than the seal on the filter, but will compress down for a seal with more surface area. Slap a little boot grease on it, and it will sucketh no more. I'm getting by with an O-ring from an old garden sprayer for now. Check with you local heavy equipment dealers, they will have a wider selection than the auto parts store. Thanks for helping us squeeze every dollar till the eagle grins!
Thanks for sharing that is awesome I will do that!
I think they did this on purpose, but I really like your idea and I’m going to use it 😊
Thanks 🙏
Yeah it sure seems that way the more and more I see like this every day. Thanks for watching!
Another good informative video. Thanks for your work.
I appreciate that!
Good tips, thank you 👍 Good name brands are no longer around for various reasons. With this BUILT-IN/PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE Biggs may be on the same path.
Stay well, Joe Z
Thanks for watching and for your comment!
@@IndRepair You're welcome.
Pile up grease around the oring so you're sure it seals, and the grease will reveal if it doesn't seal, and it'll give it a smidgeon of protection catching some of the dirt
Very good tip, this is what we did when we tested this fix. There seemed to grab almost nothing I would hope because it is no longer pulling in this area? I will admit it was very hard to get good dust/debris going to get an accurate test
I hope Briggs and Stratton watches this video and fixes the loose filter problems.
It sure is insane how many I have seen this year!
That Toro V-twin air filter design sure is nice. Holds the filter in place unlike those Briggs.
@@lopincol definitely!
Maybe they should put threads on them. You have so many garden tractors where you are, I don’t see many here where I live usually Zero Turns. Great channel. Thx!
We work on a bunch of each but probably 2 to 1 rider/tractors vs zero turns
Thanks for watching!
Great information as always. Thanks
Thanks for watching Steve!
Thank you for these tips.
Thanks for watching Gary!
What a great idea! An o-ring from my Dodge Caravan oil filters will likely work. Cheap & easy👍
Sounds like a great plan!
I like the o-ring fix and ordered some for my 25hp B&S Professional engine. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video. Thanks.

Great video 📹 👍!!! Thank you very much..
I appreciate that!
Great info, Thanks!

Great idea! Thx

To me using the foam filter ring or foam filter would be the best modification 👍🏻
I also believe that since it allows for more movement
@@IndRepair Would the ultimate be lightly oiling the foam filter or the foam filter ring so any air drawn in actually gets filtered?
@@JohnSmith-pl2bk oil always helps a foam filter work better yes
Great ideas, thanks for sharing!
Appreciate that!
I like the fix, however, I have a few customers that will not pay for OEM filters etc. no matter what I say to them. One item I insist on is the use of good spark plugs like NGK, which I try to always use. Hard to convince cheap customers to go OEM when I can. Thanks
I understand that much! Do the aftermarket fit any better?
Seems like a business opportunity for someone with a 3D printer.
Definitely! I thought about it but not my thing. Someone out there could make some decent money with one that seals well designed for multiple applications
My hustler has the kawasaki, and while the filter clamps on, the outside easily looks like the one in this video...covered in grass. The kawasaki has a drain hole in the base of the airbox...that can get plugged by grass, letting rain water sit in there and ruin the air filter. I upgraded to a commercial canister filter. It's crazy that the canister filter system was $350...but that's far cheaper than a new engine.
Definitely! Thanks for sharing!
I change my oil in my small equipment every 15 25 hours and i use amsoil 15w 50 in all of them never had any issues i bought an s220 john deer rider 2 years ago i am going to take your advice on the air filter mine is tight but i only have 2.2 hours on it
The earliest one I saw that was extremely bad was at 67 hours but I see so many under 100 with this bad fitment. Thanks for watching
my self i think briggs should get a call
Definitely
You could also smear some vacuum pump chemistry grease around it.
It may help?
Long as it is silicone and not petroleum grease it will work well
@@IndRepair yes, it's silicone based.
It is used in chemistry stuff to seal off the glass joints.
@@aurthorthing7403 Definitely would be good then. We have a heavy weight high temperature silicone grease similar to Chemplex 710 but a little heavier. Anything like that would definitely help with catching fine particles
What about a little grease around the o-ring and/or collar? It’s what’s always recommended for dirt bikes and ATV’s because of all the dust.
We always add some heavy weight high temp silicone grease. It works well to seal the gaps!
I've used while grease to aid sealing on many air filters but the slide on way those filters work, I think I would put a thin coat of Hylomar gasket sealer because of it never harding and it's tacky grip.
what about lightly oiling the added push mower foam filter??
Oil to a foam filter always helps! Thanks for the mention!
👍😊
Thanks for watching!
👍👍
Appreciate that!
Can i put a fuel shut off valve on my zeroturn briggs engine? If so, what location? Before the fuel filter or after it just before the pump? Thx
You can absolutely put one on your machine! I would put it before the filter
12 year old Briggs 1150 series has been reliable on an inherited chipper but you couldn’t give me anything new from Briggs
Definitely don't make them like they used to
So what size ring did you use?
Size in description 327 o-ring
Thanks !
Wait a minute!! It took 2 weeks to figure out a O ring to fix the problem... WOW
Almost yes, getting input and testing solutions takes some time
Class action lawsuit?
Good question...don't think anyone would ever see a penny with how bad off everyone says they are
@IndRepair the American people are bad off because of the Biden administration, corporations are doing well
Some people should not be aloud to have Equipment.
That exact reason is why I never bypass safeties for people
Stop using oem, it's no different tan any aftermarket, think anything you want, I mean he's rigging a briggs filter ? Just use aftermarket and the foam coated with oil as a barrier is the best fix. Basically a pre filter. But intek is a bad engine.
I sure agree with 6ou on the aftermarket but for some reason people like to see that OEM picture and number on the side. Psychological or not, we try to please the customer. I will do some testing on the aftermarket filters. I have some different brands on order but I doubt many of them are much different fit if any. Thanks for watching!
People really take care of their equipment? ☹🤷
Some are meticulous, most don't even know how to check the oil
