2 things: Peter Lorre has an excellent American accent. Vincent Leonard Price was very tall and very handsome at 50! The beautiful wavy hair helps. Fun fact he played a ladles man (gigolo) in the whales of August! At 76 no less!
Edgar Allan Poe has many recurring themes in his books: a haunted house, the death of a beautiful woman, the resurrection of a dead woman by rising from the grave or switching bodies with another girl, and a climax ware the cursed/haunted house ether burns down or crumbles into the swamp it was built on.
They don't make them like they used to. After the Lord of the Rings, I said that's it for Hollywood! With the exception of Moonlight I was right. Lala land? Parasite? Les miserables? The avengers? Poppycock! The performances are there but not the whole motion picture experience. You'll never see the last emperor or the exorcist or in the heat of the night in this time era ever. Sad really. You can't even make double indemnity or Peyton place anymore 😕
I used to scared of this when I was 8 and kinda still am XD. And I don’t know why but I’m scared more of the ghost lady at the end of the trailer than the lady with the flute in IT
I found this by sheer luck late one night on TV. It's a gem!

Ligeia, Morella, and the Fall of the House of Usher all have these tropes.
Bet he was fun at parties
@@kieransoregaard-utt8 How about the Haunted Palace (1963)
I remember seeing this at the Drive In when I was a little kid.
Love Price. Lee and Cushings 🎉🎉❤❤
Rathbone, Price, and Lorre got together a few years later again to star in "The Raven", another Edgar Allen Poe classic.
Rathbone wasn't in The Raven, Boris Karloff was. However, Rathborne, Karloff, Price and Lorre all got together the The Comedy of Terrors (1963).
Few can ever forget the nightmare sequence where a game of keep away is played with Peter Lorre's head.
ah peter how can you not like him
Metaluna Zombie he's a weird little bug eyed freak. I'm only here for Vincent.
I love him. His theatrical repertoire knows no bounds. Wonderful character actor. The Maltese falcon was just the beginning...
Movies of today have really went down hill. I would love it if the classic horrors like this movie were easier to find.
