    One of the greatest films ever made by Hammer.It was a true classic with brilliant performances from both Christopher Lee and Charles Gray and fantastic direction by the legendary Terence Fisher.

    "Joe Dante and myself tried for years to remake Hammer’s The Devil Rides Out, but we couldn’t get the rights. Now with CGI the effects would be terrifying, like the scene where the Angel of Death appears." - Christopher Lee , 2005

    • @richmonroe203
      @richmonroe203 5 років тому +7

      I disagree. I think the cgi effects would be OVERDONE, as in many films, and ruin it. Why remake it. Its a great film, plus you could not remake Hammers "style" and actors.

      I gotta disagree with Chris Lee here.

      Imnho, maybe Christopher Lee would act as a consultant/producer in the remake, and casting-wise, probably had a few highly-recommended actors in mind to deliver Hammer-level acting. We'll never know now, would we? Although I'd have to some extent disagree with having Joe Dante direct the film. There are other highly-qualified directors to do the remake justice.

    I’m disappointed that I’ve never seen this movie. I grew up on several of the Hammer films and owned a couple as a kid on VHS such as Frankenstein Created Woman, Dracula Prince of Darkness, Plague of the Zombies, Reptile, the Quartermass Xperiment, X the Unknown, The Stranglers of Bombay, Dracula A.D 1972. I never got a chance to see this one.

    this and the night of the demon the one with dana andrews are the best and most intellegent horror films ever made they are so good i am surprised no one as ever tried to do a remake of either one

    • @johnlewis9158
      @johnlewis9158 9 років тому +3

      well the point i was making is that this film knitted the occult and science fiction together rather well and in that respect i would say it was intelligent. We are not after all supposed to take these sort of films seriously. It is just entertainment and if it holds your attention for a hour and a half i would say it has done its job

    • @johnlewis9158

      also i do not remember seeing any Satanism in this There were people mistaking ghosts for the aliens. That is the closest we came to Satanism. Unless you include the pentacle inscribed on the spaceship

      john lewis lmao look at Lee’s interview from 1970. Wheatley’s description of Luciferian teachings are pretty dead on too the real thing. All though no film would be able too show the real details of what goes on in rituals in The real world

    At about 24 minutes into the movie when they escape from the smoke Genie guy they are in the car and it's obvious that the actor has never driven a car. It's how a kid would steer the wheel of a Fisher-Price toy car dashboard. If he drove like that they would be swerving all over the road. 🤣

    Anybody remember a movie I once saw, it might be 1970's. All I remember was there were sacrifices and a woman and her baby being punished with a sheet of plywood put on top of them with rocks on top as weight. Weird movie anybody know what I'm talking about?

      This is gonna drive me nuts, man. I've seen this movie, but cannot think of the name or anything else about it. I kinda wanna say it's 'The Crucible', but that came out in the 1990's.
      Do you happen to remember if it was like Italian or something? Cuz I don't, but I think that could potentially narrow down the search significantly.

    This movie was terribly disappointing. Really clumsy and awkward. The goat headed devil flinches car lights? Lol. The cultists are act like buffoons. Christopher Lee is great of course, but even he can't save this shit. The effects are so so, the angel of death with the winged horse is the worst! Those fake cloth wings look so crafty and really take you out of the movie. I really wanted to like this as I had read that it's a great classic horror movie. But no, it's pretty crappy, even for a homely old horror movie.
