If you want to secure your edges you can sew them to create a hem with a sewing machine or by hand, either would work. Or you could secure them in a similar fashion with a hot glue gun or tacky glue from the craft store.
All of our projects were done on a larger doll so you should be able to use either a knee high or a crew length depending on the type of clothing you want to make! :D
