This is why I laugh at the "Support Local Music" idiots. Very few Local bands will put this kind of show on then complain no one comes to their shows. Who wants to go to a show and watch a band look at their guitars all night and never address the crowd or even acknowledge their existence. The live show has died.

Jason had a MAJOR injury to his right arm, and while he has regained full use for day to day life, he's not able to play (specifically, thrash metal) at this level anymore. That's why he WROTE on the self-titled Flots album, but didn't play on it, or rejoin the band. It's sadly not going to happen :/

If you grew up in Arizona at that time your would see the influence Jeff Martin (racer x, badlands, surgical steel) had on Eric's stage presence. I miss those days.

Great musicians, and amazing songwriting is the reason these guys are still playing packed shows in 2021. We used to set the boom box up and skate for hours to this cassette.

i went to this show but we got there when iron tears was about half way over...so bumed out i didnt get to see the whole show!
I'm 40 and I picked up like 7 Flotsam albums in a second hand shop like 17 ir 18 years ago. I decided to listen to them in order of release. The first song off of Doomsday "Hammerhead" made me say out loud in my car all by myself "Holy Fucking Shit! This is AWESOME!"
Still just as good 35 years later.
This is a video shoot. It was set up for video and sound. They had a major following and in general and especially at 3:30 you will get chills and remember that Newsted was something special.
Likely James/Lars/Kirk saw this footage back in the day and said "that's the man" call him now

That black and white model is an Aria Pro II. Viviane Campbell also played it during the Dio tour of 84, 85 or 86, live in Philadelphia. I bought one and still have it.

I bought their 1st and 2nd LP in vinyl in 1990 and 1991. Good albums! Thanks to youtube, I can experience their live performance in that early stage of their career, before they released the LP

1st recording was an EP cassette given to a very few back then titled from this video The Beast from Within. I had that cassette forever and it just disappeared. I saw these guys as The Dogz in a Scottsdale living room and played quarters with Jason. Good times. Then I look in the mirror and say “Holy Shit dude. You’re old!”

Sometimes i think why jason didn't returned to this band since he left metallica, he would've returned to his roots were he was another member of the band and not the "new guy"...just a shame..

But you know what I think? Newsted had a hell of an opportunity and he blew it. When he came out with his band Newsted.
He blew $2,000,000 paying for them to tour..play big festivals..trying to get his name out there and it flopped. They covered classic Met and he put 110% into those shows.
But he could have done anything he wanted. He's rich.
He could have done old school thrash and we all would have loved it. But he didn't. He tried to write stuff with the times..Soldierhead was the MV single. So Newsted was only around from 2012 to 2014. It's too bad.
