I'm willing to guess the megalopolis that is, or at least was, Jame's and Lar's ego never took a hit quite like that. Imagine how insecure you'd have to be to be the singer of the biggest rock band in history that you're worried your bass player's little side project is somehow a threat to you.
@soullink939 at the end of the day Jason's loyalty was being questioned and I think James making that sly comment about replacing jason was the end for him after everything he did for that band he put up with alot of garbage and was treated like second rank the whole time he was part of that band and to be honest they never had a more dedicated member that knew his role. I agree with Jason's decision I just wish the band would have acted accordingly and got him back. Robs good but he doesn't belong in metallica even James has more less said he had his own things going on and they didn't think he'd ever be a part of metallica. It was a poor judgment call and to this day has hurt the band
+Youhei Wakatsuki, yeah, he used to be. Not any more, I'm affraid. I spoke to Away from Voivod just recently, he said that apparently Jason is chilling out away from music nowadays, just focusing on painting and other artistic endeavous.
How Jason make a solo 1) Random song with amazing bass 2) shred 3) another shred but this time make the crowd participate 4) turn on the Wah 5) song with Wah 6) SHRED
100%. I mean we as fans were upset and angry cause we never ever thought something like that could happen. I was heart broken when he quit. Looking back,Give him all the credit in the world because knowing the situation and that he was forced to make a TOUGH decision. Stay and basically be neutered and controlled by Hetfield or Keep his balls and integrity intact and walk away from the biggest band in the world and more importantly something he loved and respected. Major Kudos to him
I remember the local buzz and our minds totally blown when he got the gig with Metallica. Shit you not, he used to walk by my parents house all the time in Scottsdale AZ. A couple of the other guys from his band at the time, Flotsam and Jetsam lived in the neighborhood. I would be getting ready for school and he would walk by with bass in hand, I assume catching a bus going to work. Fun times man!
Jason's contributions on album are minimum, but on stage, this guy was very important for Metallica, all that energy, passion, and also singin' and playing skills. He had everything to made Metallica the greatest metal band of the 90's with the other 3 guys, but I think Jason's contributions to Metallica are scorned, because of the compositions from Garage Days until S & M. Very unfair. Also Blackened and My Friend of Misery are masterpieces in all Metallica's discography. Excellent video!!!!!
as they play Orion together..you can see James isn't trying to cry..but the memory remains, you can still see the pain on his face as hes trying to brush off the past so he can still play.
The Extinct Surgeon Well you said *he should have had more influence on AFJA* and I was just pointing out the Vid of it with the Bass Volume up more. Don't act smart with your "so?"
soeffingwhat don't act smart with your explanation of my failures bitch, His baselines there are based on the riffs, and he only had one riff of his own on ajfa. my "so" is justified and sound.
The Extinct Surgeon Oh shut the fuck up and don't try to act all tough behind your Computer where no one knows who you are. I was only making a point, Idiot.
Well, I'm not comparing nobody, but Jason is best. Respect to Legend Cliff Lee Burton, and respect to Rob - they both are genial and technically great, but Jason is MetallicA. His energy, skills, back vocals - its all so magical.
Jason was and is extremely talented. He had amazing stage presence and the great backing vocals. Hetfield said, he was the driving force every night. I had the honor to see them during The Black album tour, back in '92 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia and his bass solo was nothing short of amazing. I remember it like it was yesterday. I miss him, not being in Metallica.
jason is the perfect bassist for metallica, after cliff. no offense to robert. watching metallica with robert looks awkward. he's a good bass player though.
Newsted was great live and had immense stage charisma. His strong stage energy carried whole band and public to the "catharsis" type of state. He was even good on vocals. His band mates didn't respect him but actually metallica shows from "Newsted era" are the most enjoyable.
Seriously dude! I was 12 when I first heard this song. When it got to 4:24 time stamp on my CD on the track I was flooded with emotion I've never felt before and then I was confused as to why I was tearing up. The was the first time I've ever had an emotional response to music.
The first solo was one of the main reasons for me to start with bass. The precise picking and the epic sound of just one instrument was totally mesmerizing to me. One of my biggest influences.
Aside from being born in Jason’s era. I just grew to his playing style and his solos. He has the best solos from the 3. Sucks they never took advantage of having him write more songs. But at least Jason made me a bassist.
Need to show this video to all the idiots who says he wasn't top rated bass player. He was the best bassist for Metallica, period. Without Jason they would've ended up just like the rest.
+Codey Horn Well, they both cool... I think this band is lucky - they had a great bassist, he died, they got another amazing bassist, they fucked it up and fired him and got another one... And normal bands cannot even get ONE good bassist :D
Heck yeah ! Jason is the man ! Great bass player, vocals, he got the crowd pumping. I miss him in Metallica but totally understood why he had to bail on them.
ThisCokeTasteLikePepsi he contributed lyrically alot more than they gave him credit , there was an interview with kirk where he said jason wrote most of dyers eve, through the never, and a few others
He is a great bassist not a random studio musician. He puts his heart out while playing. I think his first priority is his music not necessarily being in one of the biggest heavy metal group ever. He deserved much more respect and acceptance. When he didn't feel those, he left. Not an easy decision but he has the balls to do it. I have so much respect for him.
Jason was So underutilized in Metallica. If James and Lars had unleashed him instead of suppressing him, think of how much more of a impact they would have made. I loved Jason's energy especially during the Justice era. \m/ 💀 \m/ Miss you Jason

So besides all the drama that James and Lars had the time and with the band not speaking to each other so Jason bailed on them ! Good for him for not being their floor mat and leaving the band. A man can only take so much drama. Goes to show he was about the music and fans then money and fame
He wasn't fired, he didn't die, he walked away from Metallica. One of history's biggest set of balls
He fucking left the band!
You got that right
I'm willing to guess the megalopolis that is, or at least was, Jame's and Lar's ego never took a hit quite like that.

@@mikehunt8247 so true are your words , he was the only one that could fill the hole and they didn't see what was right in front of them
jason's solos are like mini compositions as opposed to just chops and showing off...always like hearing his stuff
nycjin816 still nothing compared to cliff and rob
isn’t Jason also a composer on his spare time or something like that?
+Youhei Wakatsuki, yeah, he used to be. Not any more, I'm affraid. I spoke to Away from Voivod just recently, he said that apparently Jason is chilling out away from music nowadays, just focusing on painting and other artistic endeavous.
MrKredski the dude is still mad skillful. even when he launched his band, Newsted, back in 2014
+Youhei Wakatsuki, I never said otherwise. I love Jason, I even was on the gig of Newsted in London, man!
man this guy is awesome. the reason i picked up bass
Jason is just awesome, he's the reason I picked up a 5 string and played the hell out if it. Now I'm in a awesome band.
The reason i started music, the bass guitar was my first instrument . Such an inspiration
8un3zz fuck off man, don't you have other videos to shit on
8un3zz ok man, whatever turns you on 😉
Him and Cliff
How Jason make a solo
1) Random song with amazing bass
2) shred
3) another shred but this time make the crowd participate
4) turn on the Wah
5) song with Wah
6) SHRED
7) Jam with James and Kirk
Eduardo Calvo you forgot hit head on instrument
You're saying that as a good thing, right?
@Flaming Flammenwerfer It's definitely a good things 🤘😈
I respect that dude a lot. He stood his ground with 100% of his balls intact and walked away.

FLAPPIN FLOTSOM IS THAT JASON NEWSTED
WOW! Lucky! I'll just sit here watching the concerts wishing I was born in the 60s

The Greates metal band of the 90's is Pnatera

29:20 The true Black Sabbath soul lives in Jason's heart...Man Thats Huge! Jason plays with feelings..Thats why it makes him unique!
Ozzy called him a "young Geezer Butler" which is a huge sign of respect. Jason's biggest influence besides Gene Simmons and Lemmy was Geezer.
Jason newsted is like Cliff Burton with a Guitar Pick. Metallica lost 2 very talented and amazing Bass players. R.I.P. Clifford Lee Burton.
Hey,all of their bass players a extremely talented,Rob just doesn't fit with metal as much,Robert Trujillo is still a fucking legend.
The bassist of Metallica is a sacred musician and can never be easily replaced. Like the singer for Iron Maiden, or the lead guitarist for Pantera
Nobody is like Cliff
Cliff tenía pensado dejar Metallica 1 mes después de su muerte al terminar la gira de Europa, porque no se llevaba bien con Lars.
JASON LIVES ON
He is actually incredibly skilled, he should have had more influence on AFJA
The Extinct Surgeon You know there is a new vid on UA-cam of AJFA with the Bass up more?

@8un3zz as a bass player while it isn't the best ever saying it's beginner level is wrong.
@8un3zz shut the fuck up...little insignificant shit
Yeah, I caught that too. Sounded really good and funky!!
9:10 to 11:20 could fit in ANY 80s or 90s horror flick. They shoud've recorded a creepy instrumental out of it.
jason turn to jason voorhees...🔪
Damn, that was some bad ass horror music for sure!!! 😮⚡️🤘
Bass technician & House Of Engineer set up this terrific sound effects
Every bassist is important in Metallica. But Jason is my favorite straight up
Same. Cliff was....well, just Amazing, in all ways. Robert is a REALLY cool dude and a very talented musical mind....but Jason is just my favorite.
Same here! Especially since he wrote one of my favorite riffs of all time, BLACKENED!!! 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🖤
he is probably everyone's favorite
The stage presence will never ever be replaced the guy was fucking awesome
Jason is a man with dignity and honor.. And among the best bass players in the world.
Well said my friend, I do not blame him at all for demanding respect and leaving when it wasn't rightfully reciprocated

I think he is the best of all time.
Yes he is underrated because he plays bass with pick
We miss you jason..
From malaysia metallica fans.. 😊
34:17 Jason and Kirk "talk through a guitar" AMAZING :O :)
That bass solo live in Seattle in 89 was his best \m/
I prefer his solo of the Master of Puppets tour 86-87... He is an amazing bassist in his own way
13:55 that slap was just so simple yet so groovy
34:17 - when magic begins...
Jakub Dudek when Kirk was good :v
Metallica needs Jason.
And beer.
he is better than rob. robs tones always sound gross. like orion. just ew
They need something!
One of my favorites bassists.
6:25 to 7:00 so beautiful i hope they use that in their new album and give jason credit
Yep, that amazing tune turned me on while watching it
i fucking love newsted. he is the reason why my bass in in my room right now he deserves more for what he did in metallica.
