while otheer classes in reality cost $100 and you have to go to other cities/country while cant afford cuz cant make a living with my art yet. this is beyond perfect
I’ve always wanted to draw and be an artist since my childhood, but everyone around me (read: parents, relatives and teachers) were convincing me its a dumb idea, that i dont draw good enough and will never be able to. So i dropped the idea of it, i dropped improving my art, stopped doing it completely. Years later i started to doodle something occasionally, some random sketches, nothing serious, but a friend of mine saw it and told me “why dont u draw more often, its so pretty”. That was enough to actually let myself go and start drawing again. I was learning almost from scratch how to do it again but still had never ever taken it seriously despite enjoying drawing so much. When it was time to choose a university i wanna go to the childhood dream reappeared in my head. But i didnt have enough skill for sure and neither did i have a portfolio to actually be able to apply to any art school, so the dream was put aside again. I just graduated from university and i found myself being extremely frustrated cause when i finally got some free time to do something which is not studying all i wanted to do is to draw. I realized that being an artist is still my passion, realized i wanna drawing and painting to actually be my job and this video right here just...gave me so much inspiration. To just sit there, draw, learn whatever i still dont know, work hard, improve, build up my portfolio and try my best to live my life the way i want. Thank you, truly thank you for making this video and the course itself.
This is so similar to my experience as well. I never thought I was good enough to pursue art as a career so even though I did it in a level I didn't take it through to uni. I've always doodled and sketched in my free time but this last month I've realised that I would love to have a portfolio and skill set developed enough to sell prints on Etsy and stickers and maybe make videos and such! How have you progressed in the 9 months since you posted this? And do you have an insta or anything- I'd love to follow!
Mad 173 i started to draw again frequently and learn! Not enough to have a solid portfolio or smth yet but im definitely progressing and making steps to becoming an artist, not just someone who can doodle. I unfortunately dont have any social media with my art cause im scared as hell that i wont be good and productive enough.. if you have any social media tho Id love to follow too!
@@xenxenxena I'm glad you're making progress! :D I don't have a solid portfolio or anything either, I have an Instagram account @maddie_draws_173 but it's not a serious business one, I just wanted to get in the habit of posting my art so that I can accept it and move on from it, cause I have a nasty habit of critiquing in to death in a unproductive way! I hope one day I'll be good enough to have an account that's visually appealing and organised but for now I just wanted to get used to having my art out there haha
My parents completely refuse to let me go to art school... :( They think it's stupid and I will become homeless. I do not agree ****Edit**** I was able to convince my parents through dedication and facts to allow me to pursue art as a career. :D Thank you guys for all of the advice!
it's okay, i feel you and same goes for me, but there's one thing that I won't give up, even my path is far from my what I want to, and that is, my skill. and I will remain it and make it more interactive. because this skill only makes me happy. we don't draw to force ourselves for everyone, we make things that can gives us happiness in your ways depending on your ideas and patience. remember.... hope and art is equal... that is, to balance our ideas and happiness
They shouldn’t have stopped you going to art school. But a way to make sure you don’t end up without a job is to adapt your skills into a high demand industry. I just completed a digital design course (essentially graphic design with lots of extras). I knew I didn’t want to just be a graphic designer, so I decided to go into interaction design. So I’m using my graphic design skills, the stuff I LOVE doing, and applying it to an area that is in high demand, UX/UI. My point is, you should try to find a way to develop your career, rather than just doing art.
From my perspective, it that in pursuing an art career, it's either you'll be employed but have a lot of money because yu can sell your work to people or Working in art art industry like Disney and that's a hell lot of cash and exposure to be in. Not only your doing what you love but you're also bringing happiness to people who loves your art

to be honest, my favorite artist is my twin sister. I've watched her growing passion for art over the years, and she helps inspire new stories and ideas. I'm not the best artist, but that hasn't stopped my sister from encouraging me to continue drawing, no matter what.
Kinda like my twin sister she's a artist too, so was my father. My twin wants to go to art school but doesn't have the money, but she just moved to California. 🤷

I honestly thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ve always wanted to chase my dream of being a artist able to work from home and at my own hours. I lost sight of that a while back and just recently started sketching again. I missed it and that dream never seemed to be realistic but the way you explained it makes it feel reachable even though I’ve never been to art school or had a teacher. The work I have to put in to make it to my dream is what’s important now. I look forward to seeing more of this series. I’ve subscribed and turned on that bell notification.

The community thing he mentioned is spot on. I didn't draw a lot until my job got tablets. While myself and some of my coworkers were on watch together, we used to draw. I've been at it for a few months now and i love it
You really are a gem. I have a long past of drugs, failing school, and almost not being able to make it to college. I worked for 2 years to get my Gen Ed's out of the way, and last year finally decided what I want to do for my job. So, I'm currently going after a BS in Software Engineering, as well as a double major in Game Art and Design. I haven't done art in probably close to 7 years, but watching you rekindled that for me, and now I can learn so much from you. Thank you for being such a good person.
im 42 and my photography business finally leaves me a plenty hours a day to start the drawing journey, since im older im going faster in the learning process. It's never too late, I always wanted to do concept art for games since I was 12. Im doing it, not for work but for fun. I never would've dreamed of all the resources available now, Never give up on your dream. Kids, if you live with your parents and have time to spend you are blessed. Take advantage of it and give it all you've got now that you can.
When I was younger I showed an affinity for art and I was lucky enough to have parents who would encourage my developing skills. One thing that we did was sit and watch Bob Ross. I was mesmerized at how he could transform a blank canvas into a vast landscape. For years I studied his work bought all his books and before long I was pumping out landscapes left, right and center. I still continue to paint and draw landscapes but I want to add people to those worlds. I'm so excited to show you what I come up with.

My Favorite artist Masayoshi Tanaka- He is my number one favorite artist/animator among all. Because of his flexibility to create such beautiful character design for some anime like Your Name, Anohana, High school of the dead, and so many more. I love how he draws those characters, it is so youthful, bright, and easily to understand with. Second is Inio Asano aside his artstyle on making backgrounds for his manga. What I love is his how he tell his stories. His stories are so complicated to think, how does he create this kind of stories. most of his works (manga) depicts the reality of human life, the society that we are living in, the people, the thoughts, and so many more that tackles the reality of this world. and lastly My bestfriend he is the one who pushed me to pursue arts eversince my elementary days. He is good... No he is the best artist that I meet in my whole life and I aspire him for creating wholesome artworks like comics, and some editorial sketches. But now he stop from creating wholesome artworks. but still he is the one whom I aspire until today. and also I almost forgot hehe 😅😅 Your now my number 4 favorite artist mr. ROSSDRAWS because of your cool colors and wholesome character designs. But what I actually love the most is your Coloring it is cool like I can sense and feel the vibe of the color that you use for characters... I hope I can learn more from you mr. ROSSDRAWS to help some aspiring artist like me who wants to be part of this kind of industry. ❤💕😆😊
One of the best reasons to find a good art program, not even at an expensive art school mine was a community college, is to get broken out of your routine and comfort zone. You can do it yourself, but with proper guidance you can get to a better place much faster. The fundamentals are important no matter what field or style you want to use, so getting away from just drawing the thing you love will help you draw the thing you love so much better.
I know this is a old video but one of my favourite artists is Randy Bishop. One of my assignments in college was to research a current artist, draw some of their work and then create some my work in their style. I decided to reach out to Randy thinking I was never going to get a response and yet I surprisingly did. It was really interesting talking to him especially since we both came from religious backgrounds and yet have gone into a field that doesn't tend to support such thoughts. He is an amazing artist and I hope to be just as amazing of a artist as him!

I've been drawing for over 12 years now (just as a hobby) but never really considered making a living out of it because I never thought I would do well enough in the industry. Its so demoralizing to have this many people so good at art, and i don’t feel quite as good as anyone here. But its also amazing how much the art community has grown and how much we all can learn online.
Basically, I'm 13 years old and it's my life dream to release a Manga series and to become a concept artist,especially for Nintendo. And this video really helped me out of having a plan and to get the idea how to prepare for that time. Really helped me out and I hope I will never lose this dream

all this boiled down to two simple facts, be good and market yourself. theres a lot of stuff inbetween like confidence, luck, consistency etc but either way you have to make sure you're art is actually good as well. Also schools dont always matter because A) its not always needed and B) most art school arent that great or don't teach the right materials. Just refine your skills and put yourself out there and people will find interest in you , its true
One of my favorite artists is one of my friends. When I first moved to a new town, she was the first person I met, and while I thought there was no one better than me at art (which was dumb I was 10), I learned that I could still improve and look at new ways to do so! There are many artist styles I love, and I pick out of few techniques from many artists and add it to my own.

Right now I'm taking intro to art in highschool next year I'll take intermediate art...I learned so many things in intro to art (we have art classes in my highschool)
I have been drawing since as long as I can remember and when I was a kid drawing on the living room floor, I dreamed of one day becoming a famous artist. However, around the middle of high school it started becoming relevant to me that maybe I wouldn’t be able to make a career out of it after all (I didn’t have the best support from my parents at the time) so I decided to just try and become a literature teacher since I had another passion which was reading and writing. For a while there I didn’t draw and kind of lost my ability. Now fast forward to college. I dropped out. I decided I sucked at studying and would just drop out, become a writer and get a regular job to help make ends meet. Fast forward another few years. I’m 24 now and recently in the last year, my passion for art has been reignited. Why? Because of people like Ross and all the other amazing artists on UA-cam. You have made me realize that there is more to art than I realized. I realized how much I missed it. I have always had a creative spirit which I why I got so into art and writing in the first place. Now I’ve started practicing my art EVERY day. Including getting a digital tablet for my computer to expand my art beyond physical. Doing all this has finally led me to realize what I wanna do for a living. Making webcomics. It combines two things I’m incredibly passionate about. Art and Writing stories. Now I can’t get enough of it and my parents, siblings, friends and even my husband have started becoming incredibly supportive of me on this. So now every day I’m working and improving to get my webcomic going and I just wanna thank you for taking the time for US and making this series. You’re helping reignite other artists passions and helping them along with making their dreams come true. So thank you!

my current top 5 artists are kim jung gi, hajime isayama, inoue takehiko, kentaro miura and wlop. definitely i can relate most to isayama's journey because he as well started as someone who isn't good at drawing. he got rejected multiple times but that doesn't stop him from pursuing his dreams. and with time, practice, and discipline he has greatly improved and has also found his own art style, which for me is very inspiring. all these 5 artists i've mentioned have one thing in common, and that is they have discipline in how they make art. they don't stop creating, and drawing to them is like breathing. and that is what i am aiming to be,-- not to be the greatest, but to have an unshakeable discipline like them.
My absolutely favorite artist is Jacek Yerka!! He does traditional painting but I can related to his work because is stuff I only see in my dreams. Thanks for sharing this video.

When I was younger I showed an affinity for art and I was lucky enough to have parents who would encourage my developing skills. One thing that we did was sit and watch Bob Ross. I was mesmerized at how he could transform a blank canvas into a vast landscape. For years I studied his work bought all his books and before long I was pumping out landscapes left, right and center.
I still continue to paint and draw landscapes but I want to add people to those worlds. I'm so excited to show you what I come up with.

My Favorite artist
Masayoshi Tanaka- He is my number one favorite artist/animator among all. Because of his flexibility to create such beautiful character design for some anime like Your Name, Anohana, High school of the dead, and so many more. I love how he draws those characters, it is so youthful, bright, and easily to understand with.
Second is Inio Asano aside his artstyle on making backgrounds for his manga. What I love is his how he tell his stories. His stories are so complicated to think, how does he create this kind of stories. most of his works (manga) depicts the reality of human life, the society that we are living in, the people, the thoughts, and so many more that tackles the reality of this world.
and lastly My bestfriend he is the one who pushed me to pursue arts eversince my elementary days. He is good... No he is the best artist that I meet in my whole life and I aspire him for creating wholesome artworks like comics, and some editorial sketches. But now he stop from creating wholesome artworks. but still he is the one whom I aspire until today.

One of the best reasons to find a good art program, not even at an expensive art school mine was a community college, is to get broken out of your routine and comfort zone.
You can do it yourself, but with proper guidance you can get to a better place much faster.
The fundamentals are important no matter what field or style you want to use, so getting away from just drawing the thing you love will help you draw the thing you love so much better.

I know this is a old video but one of my favourite artists is Randy Bishop. One of my assignments in college was to research a current artist, draw some of their work and then create some my work in their style. I decided to reach out to Randy thinking I was never going to get a response and yet I surprisingly did. It was really interesting talking to him especially since we both came from religious backgrounds and yet have gone into a field that doesn't tend to support such thoughts. He is an amazing artist and I hope to be just as amazing of a artist as him!

all this boiled down to two simple facts, be good and market yourself. theres a lot of stuff inbetween like confidence, luck, consistency etc but either way you have to make sure you're art is actually good as well. Also schools dont always matter because A) its not always needed and B) most art school arent that great or don't teach the right materials. Just refine your skills and put yourself out there and people will find interest in you , its true

Right now I'm taking intro to art in highschool next year I'll take intermediate art...I learned so many things in intro to art (we have art classes in my highschool)
I have been drawing since as long as I can remember and when I was a kid drawing on the living room floor, I dreamed of one day becoming a famous artist. However, around the middle of high school it started becoming relevant to me that maybe I wouldn’t be able to make a career out of it after all (I didn’t have the best support from my parents at the time) so I decided to just try and become a literature teacher since I had another passion which was reading and writing. For a while there I didn’t draw and kind of lost my ability. Now fast forward to college. I dropped out. I decided I sucked at studying and would just drop out, become a writer and get a regular job to help make ends meet. Fast forward another few years. I’m 24 now and recently in the last year, my passion for art has been reignited. Why? Because of people like Ross and all the other amazing artists on UA-cam. You have made me realize that there is more to art than I realized. I realized how much I missed it. I have always had a creative spirit which I why I got so into art and writing in the first place. Now I’ve started practicing my art EVERY day. Including getting a digital tablet for my computer to expand my art beyond physical. Doing all this has finally led me to realize what I wanna do for a living. Making webcomics.
It combines two things I’m incredibly passionate about. Art and Writing stories. Now I can’t get enough of it and my parents, siblings, friends and even my husband have started becoming incredibly supportive of me on this. So now every day I’m working and improving to get my webcomic going and I just wanna thank you for taking the time for US and making this series. You’re helping reignite other artists passions and helping them along with making their dreams come true. So thank you!

my current top 5 artists are kim jung gi, hajime isayama, inoue takehiko, kentaro miura and wlop.
definitely i can relate most to isayama's journey because he as well started as someone who isn't good at drawing. he got rejected multiple times but that doesn't stop him from pursuing his dreams. and with time, practice, and discipline he has greatly improved and has also found his own art style, which for me is very inspiring. all these 5 artists i've mentioned have one thing in common, and that is they have discipline in how they make art. they don't stop creating, and drawing to them is like breathing. and that is what i am aiming to be,-- not to be the greatest, but to have an unshakeable discipline like them.
