l remember my first helmet, it was an old white Bell helmet a mate gave me and every time l went over 50mph or into a head wind the bloody visor would fly up and the strap would strangle me 😂good job l had strong neck muscles. Another good video bud 👍
Great memories non the less.
Hope you've got a new one now!
Ride safe mate and thanks for watching my modest efforts.👍
One thing to keep in mind is some manufacturers make oval and round shaped helmets. I have made the mistake of purchasing a round one for my oblong head. Just something to look for. Thanks to you and Pete for the information, those are some things I will keep in mind during my next purchase.
Fair comment mate.
Just adds more to the weight of trying on if it's at all possible.👍
Hiern Gerrick was good kit there was a shop in Chester I bought a textile Jacket & pants that lasted for a number of years I passed them on to one of my brother I laws and he used them for a while , I've still got a pair of winter gloves I bought from them must be 25 years old still in good nick ,
I used to be a motorbike instructor for awhile and part of the training was telling and showing people how to pick and fit a helmet properly we would never advise people to buy secondhand helmets because you honestly don't know its history , I've had Bell , and Caberg flip top lids , my new one is a L Z 2 which is quality in a Sale for £250 well worth it , but there are plenty of very good lids of all makes and styles obviously depends on what weight and style you need , your correct in your safety info on lids . Happy riding 😊
Thankyou for sharing your thoughts.

Hi Keith, lovely scenery, great video BTW. I once (back in the early 1990's) did a motorbike camping trip to Matlock bath and visited most of the surrounding areas including the obligatory Cat and Fiddle run, maybe a little further than where you are but beautiful countryside all the same.
I had forgotten how bad English roads are with all the potholes, especially when you think how much the robbing government takes off people for using them. Recently I was told by one of my Spanish friends that the Government here has banned open faced helmets, something that has really upset me as its so hot in the summer that they are the best to use, and mine which I bought in Andorra a few years ago really fits me well. My other helmet which is the normal enclosed type gave me claustrophobia when I used it.
Later, I'll send you another photo of my Spanish friend, Antonio, with his other Harley and a sidecar - alas Gromit wasn't using it.
Hi Mate,
Yes Matlock Bath is a regular in these parts. Great Fish and Chips!
Strange to ban open face, particularly over there in the heat.
Look forward to your mates Harley with a sidecar,?
The that'll be a first.

Thanks for commenting.
Great viewing.... Still got my HG jacket, very heavy but feel safe in it.
Thankyou. Ride safe mate👍
Another great video! Thank you for the helmet fitting tips. Thanks for sharing my photos. I always enjoy your rides, beautiful country you live in. I'll have to make some ride vids when my skills improve and I venture out to the more scenic areas where I live.
Thankyou, yes do.
I'd love to have a look around Oregon.
Your skills will soon improve.
Ride safe mate👍
Another great vid mate, keep it up!
Thanks for your encouragement.

I agree about Mr Dougal statement, On crash helmets back in the early 80's I youst to marshal a M/C races I know Barry Sheene was involved (or came across the deadbry) but another rider's crash, helmet came off after this a pull from the rear of the helmet upwards was done upwards afterwards. Also riding as part of a group ride out in 2017, one of the riders hit a car (I would state his fault overtaking on a blind bend) both him & his pinion helmets spilt on impact with the road surface! He had a £18000 bike but cheap £80 helmets 😡YOU PAY FOR YOUR LIFE ONCE AND ONLY ONCE, I will never forget that having to ride through the carnage, & having to stop traffic until the police arrived for the air ambulance, they took the car driver & passenger to hospital but envier rider or pinion survived. (I had to take wee while to composure myself before I post this).
Thanks for your thoughts.
It's not really a place to save money.
Ride safe mate 👍
Another cracking ride Keith, very good of Peter to pass on his knowledge as you said too many people buy helmets based on colour or style and far too many get the wrong size, usually too big. as they use to say if you have a ten bob head get a ten bob helmet if not then get the best you can afford but make sure it’s the right size, all the best buddy 👍
Hi Mike.
Yes it was good of him.
I know I'm beginning to sound like my dad but the price of them now is eye watering if you look at the top brands.
I do wonder if it's the modern way, everyone wants Nike trainers, the latest Apple phone and a top Arai helmet.🤔
Ride safe mate👍
@@shottostravels problem is Keith we still see the price of things as though it’s 1980 😂😂👍
I still think of how prices were back in the 1960's 😞but at least the wages went up from those days. Shame they forgot about pensions for normal people.
@@mikehatswell3961 You know the Belstaff factory was in Stoke around then. I distinctly remember going into the factory shop and buying a Trialsmaster wax cotton jacket jacket for £25. It may of been a "slight seconds" but you and me would never know why.
Price of them now?
Old buggers moaning about price of stuff eh?😉
@@PeterHolland-mu7yn I was 18 in 77 and with my birthday money and the best part of a weeks wages I treated my self to a Lewis Leathers jacket, they had a branch in Sheffield at the time, I’ve still got it, though it seems to have shrunk quite a bit 😂😂😂 can’t part with it though, too many happy memories
Enjoyed your video I never new about the fitting tips other than just a snug fit 👍
Hi Mate.
No nor me, just puts a bit more meat on the bones.
Gives us an idea when renewal time comes
Ride safe and thanks for commenting.👍
Thanks for airing my pics Keith, I must get some more done as I've got a touring seat, engine bars, and a luggage rack fitted now. Roll on summer, Though we've had a fab weekend, standing room only in the Peaks! Ride safe
It's a pleasure. To be honest I squeezed them in which probably didn't do them justice as I sort of ran out of time. But they were good.
Ride safe mate. 👍
Hi Keith thanks for another enjoyable video 🎉
Thanks, you're welcome, Glad you got something out of it.
Ride safe mate👍
Hi Keith another great video mate 👍🏽. Hopefully I will have a decat pipe coming this week to compliment my DNA air filter so I'll let you know how it goes 👍🏽. Go steady 👍🏽
Yes do, I reckon you'll like it👍
Totally enjoyed today's video. I once owned H G leathers (2 jackets, pants, bibs) -quality kits. It's a shame textiles have replaced them. The helmet fitting was brilliant. Also, the turnaround at the water crossing-a good idea.!! The filming and editing was quite good also. 👍👍5🏍🙋♂️
Thankyou John.
I'm glad it was of interest.
Yes, I have never seen the water there that high. No way through there on a classic.
A Himalayan and 20 years ago I wouldn't of hesitated.
Ride safe mate👍
Hi Keith, bought the same helmet Pete is demonstrating last week (LS2 Bob in matt black), used the size recommendation from their website after measuring my bonce and it fits perfectly.
Brilliant, good news. Ride safe mate, in your new helmet! 👍
Is that tidy looking Classic from Sheffield the That Bloke On A Motorbike channel? Enjoy his clips
Put a long comment about West Germany matches being at Sheffield Wed & Aston Villa but can’t see it now, maybe failed to press send!
Ahh, that makes sense why they were up there then. Thanks.
The classic is from the Sheffield area. Ride safe mate👍
