I have done this stitch successfully in the past. Just came to UA-cam to get refresher. Darn it if I didn't try three, yes three! videos before with no success. Come on, it's really not that difficult, right!!? I found your video and, like magic, I am one my way. Thank you. So, I had to subscribe. I look forward to you teaching me more.
Thank you for this video, easy to follow, I got a bit confused in the beginning because I had never heard the term double chain, as I always thought it was double crochet, but I finally figured it out and have made several ❤
Thank you fo showing us this pattern and i truly love it. I have another pattern similar that i made into a blanket but cannot find the pattern again because it is just lovely. I will continue to look for it and send it along if i can find it
Thank you for helping me with this stitch, I’ve been wanting to use it for awhile, but it just wasn’t working for me. Your video and instructions did the trick. Now I can make a baby blanket with this pretty stitch!
Your such a great teacher I love how easily it is to follow your directions.....I have all ready made so many wash rags......but I was wondering if you had a pattern for a butterfly?
I just started doing this video and make them back to edit this posting but I have to say that so far on the first row, I couldn't figure out if you were doing every stitch or every other stitch until you got to the very end and slowed it way down and I could see that you were going into every stitch
I did for the most part. Now I'm irritated because it's not perfect, lol. Practice makes perfect. How do you keep the edges straight? This pattern looks so simple and I'm not finding any mistakes but my rows are uneven and now the whole product looks like a 10 y.o. made it
You are a great teacher. Thanks for sharing. Especially the print. I’m just learning to read patterns. Question: in row three did you start in the third chain/stitch from the hook?
I would also like to know if it was the third stitch, she says the first stitch but then third stitch for front post and crochets into the third stitch?? I'm so confused
I like the pattern, especially the written instruction listed below the video. Is there a way to take us to the next point without looking at the very fast forwarding? It kinda make my head swim a little. If not okay. I still hit bvb the like button.
@@HookedOnCrafts thank you so much. Now I understand I love your channel came across it yesterday it's simple. As my grandmother passed away before she hot to teach me crochet 10 years ago but she taught me knitting.
I can't wait to get home and make one of these. I do not see the step by step written instructions on this page. Am I completely missing it? Otherwise, I will simply re watch your video. Thanks !
I think she means double crochet stitch. Because at first I had no idea what she was talking about. Then after watching a few times I realized she’s just doing double crochets.
Is there a written pattern for this? Because I'm not a novice, but trying to learn new stitches...but you're confusing me. There's no such stitch as a "double chain" but I can see you're making a double crochet. You've called the hook a needle, but I got what you meant. But what I'm confused about now is that you're saying one thing but the words on the video indicate something else. It says FPDC, DC, (FPDC, FPDC, DC) repeat till end of row. BUT you said FPDC, DC, FPDC, DC, DC. Which is it? It's hard to keep up with you on the video because you're not really showing them as you go (which would be very helpful).
If you could let me know the time stamp in the video where you are having a problem I will try and clarify. This video is over two years old and I will need to go back to look. Thanks for your feedback.
I’m sorry there is no written pattern. It is just something I came up with using the waffle stitch. I’ve never really written any patterns but maybe someday sone I will give it a try.
It is Double Crochet NOT Double Chain. i.e., CH = chain, DC = Double Crochet. FPDC = Front Post Double Crochet. Using the word 'chain' in place of crochet for those stitches is Very confusing.
Sorry if I was going too fast for you. You are able to slow the speed of the video by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner and adjusting the playback speed. Happy crocheting

I'm not a beginner crochet person either
Sorry for any confusion. I’m glad you were able to figure it out.

I’m confused on row 3. Where do I place that first dc? Also for your pattern what does the dish cloth end up measuring? Thank you for the video
In row three you are doing a double crochet into the previous FPDC. My dishcloth measured 9 inches x 9 inches.
in your first row, you repeatedly said chain two
and I think you meant double crochet, would that be correct?
Yes you are correct they are double crochet. Sorry for any confusion.
I wondered about that too.
You are a great teacher. Thanks for sharing. Especially the print. I’m just learning to read patterns. Question: in row three did you start in the third chain/stitch from the hook?
Thanks so much. I’m glad you liked it.
I would also like to know if it was the third stitch, she says the first stitch but then third stitch for front post and crochets into the third stitch?? I'm so confused
What type of wool is this?? Your wool looks smooth, while the ones I get have a lot of fine hairs on them....
The yarn I used for this project is Lily’s Sugar and Cream cotton yarn. However any 4 weight cotton yarn would work.
@@HookedOnCrafts Thank you so much. ☺️☺️☺️☺️

I like the waffle stitch, can use other types of material besides cotton yard
You could use another fiber for a blanket using this stitch however I think cotton is best for wash clothes and dishcloths.
I'm going to try this one and I'm a beginner, silly question how come we have to flip our work when we finish a row. 💖
Most of the time in crochet you will work right to left. Turning your work will allow you to continue working right to left. Hope this helps
@@HookedOnCrafts thank you so much. Now I understand I love your channel came across it yesterday it's simple. As my grandmother passed away before she hot to teach me crochet 10 years ago but she taught me knitting.
Did you upload written instructions!
The written instructions are in the bottom left corner of the video.
THANK YOU. I don't see the written pattern.
Do you have a written pattern available? I'm interested in doing a larger size and was hoping for a guide on how to calculate the starting chain.
I’m sorry I don’t have a written pattern
where are the written direction at?
I never heard a double crochet called a double chain but I love the pattern
Lol sorry that was just me getting tongue tied. It is a double crochet. Glad you liked the pattern.
How many skeins do you use for one cloth?
I use one per dishcloth
@@HookedOnCrafts ok thank you so much
Hello :) thank you for the video! How many milimetres is an H size hook please? x
My H size hook is 5.0MM
I have a question...in this video you stated "double chain". It looks like a "double crochet". Where does this term come from?
Sorry for any confusion. It is a double crochet I just got tongue tied.
I can't wait to get home and make one of these. I do not see the step by step written instructions on this page. Am I completely missing it? Otherwise, I will simply re watch your video. Thanks !
I’m sorry but I do not have any written instructions.
Where can I find the written pattern for this?
I’m sorry but I don’t write patterns. If you follow along you could write it down so that you understand and have it for reference.
By double chain, I'm guessing you mean double crochet, right?
Yes sorry, sometimes I interchange the two
Size of hook please
I use an H/5.0 size hook.
How many rows does it end up being I tried counting and I’m just blind lol
I really just keep going until I have a square. If my dishcloth is 9 inches wide I keep going until it is 9 inches high.
Hi never heard of double chain St before ....double St. Haha
I think she means double crochet stitch. Because at first I had no idea what she was talking about. Then after watching a few times I realized she’s just doing double crochets.

Sorry I got a little tongue tied
The term is "double crochet" not " double chain"
Thanks sometimes I get tongue tied when I’m recording. Sorry for any confusion
It is Double Crochet NOT Double Chain. i.e., CH = chain, DC = Double Crochet. FPDC = Front Post Double Crochet. Using the word 'chain' in place of crochet for those stitches is Very confusing.
So sorry. I get a little nervous when I’m recording and sometimes misspeak. I promise I do know the difference as I’ve been crocheting for 20+ years.
You keep saying double chain when you actually mean double crochet. Beginners could be confused by that.
Patti I do miss speak in this video and call a double crochet a double chain. Sorry for any confusion.
You go to fast
