Grand Cotton dishcloth. I was smiling when you added the wee loop. You think of everything. No stone left unturned. I'm also saving this because I think that stitch pattern would also make a grand baby blanket. No holes fir the tiny fingers. Thank you Bonnie. Love from Ireland xxx Ann Marie
I just wanted to say that I love the way you teach your videos-so easy to understand. I am making baby blankets for my church. We have a Missionary Closet that visiting Missionaries can take what they need on their journeys. I made a ribbed one, and one with shells. This project looks like it would be nice for a baby blanket, also. Thanks for helping me learn new stitches. Have a Wonderful & Blessed Day!
thanks to you bonnie I can now do this stitch, because no one else would do this stitch. Everyone else would only do the suzette stitch. I didn't, so when I saw this post, I started watching and I was like YES!!! I finally found the stitch I wanted to do, so thank you and God Bless You dear.
Welcome to my channel Kelly! I have many other beginner designs here if you are looking for more: ua-cam.com/play/PLoIugZBYOS0UThLQMWAl_UIy_royIGLNE.html
this is what I needed someone to say start with one single crochet and end with a double , double on single and single on double they are great extra hints . I am a beginner and this was immensely helpful . I think your calling is a teacher . thank you so much look forward to more of your you tubes .
Hello Ms Bonnie, I just wanted to drop in to say how much I appreciate you and how I love your chose of music in the beginning of each of your videos. May God Bless You❤️
OMG!!! I loved doing this dishcloth. I know how to crochet but I can’t follow an actual chart. So this was perfect to me. I didn’t do the loop as I frustrated me. I can’t wait to do more of your vids. A+++
Hi Bonnie, I love this dish cloth ...Ive been wanting to crochet in a square design and there it is and it is fun to make. Thank you so much .... I have crocheted alot and have been wanting to start again (I have been injured alot and am trying to turn again) YOU are the best !!!!!!! Jill Siegler
This is a great dishcloth I really enjoy my homemade dishcloths they wash so well and last ages. My mom died recently and I'm just getting back to crochet I prefer smaller things like dishcloths its like therapy. I am making my dad a bunch of them thanks Bonnie
gregsgirl23au so glad you are enjoying this one! Do very sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. We lost my mom right before Christmas just a few months ago. Praying for God to comfort you right now.
I like this pattern because it makes a nice size dishcloth, not too big like some patterns. It is also a nice light cloth, not too bulky. I used Peaches and Creme Stripes in the color way Seaside Stripes and it gave me a nice pattern of blue and green stripes. I did put a single crochet around the edge to finish it off. Thank you for the tutorial, I subscribed to your channel. You have a nice way of teaching, I enjoyed your video. 😊
I love this pattern, it’s become my go to for dishcloths and I’ve even started a throw blanket with it using Caron one pound yarn and a 10mm hook and I love the way it looks.
That's great Kaylyn! You may want to consider using a 100% cotton yarn if you are making functional dishcloths though. Acrylic yarn will tear up when scrubbing, whereas cotton will hold up to the toughest pots and pans!
That is really pretty. I'm working on a blanket right now, but have this pattern on my to do list. I love colorful yarn for dishcloths. I like to pair it with a solid color too when gifting them. Can't wait to try it.
Thank you for this great stitch. At last a dish cloth that I can actually accomplish with crochet, I have been doing them by knitting which I have been happy with and I have tried the crochet ones only to be discouraged. This is such an easy stitch but the results are an awesome project.
I love all your video's they are info pack and are fun!!! Thank you for all your wonderful insight on hooks and yarn it helps me so much!! I love Susan Bates soft handle hooks I own them and your right they are very well made and strong!!! Wishing you a wonderful crochet day!! One of the my favorite things about the hook is how strong they are and that they are long and love, love, love, that they are colored hooks.
Hi Bonnie.... I've made several washcloths over the years, this is the easiest and now my favorite washcloth/dishcloth. I'm hoping to make dishtowels using the same 1sc 1dc pattern. Working on how many cast on stitches for the towel. Your a great teacher. Thank you for sharing your talents. Have a Blessed day 💖.
I finally found a dish cloth I can make ty I have tried all kinds of other videos can it would all ways start easy then get complicated ty for your easy video I will post my dish cloth soon
I agree with the Susan Bates Crochet Hooks! I have tried using other brands when I went out of town without hook bag and I just cannot crochet if I do not have Susan Bates type hooks. I thought I was the only one.
I just started to learn to crochet last weekend. This is the second tutorial of yours that I've come across and you are a wonderful teacher! I'm trying to make a basic square but it's turning into a triangle. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but you mentioned doing a single chain after you flip your work over and I was doing the chain then turning it over. I skipped some stitches too. Trying to practice at least 10 minutes a day, can only get better in time!
Not to worry Karen! This is just part of the learning curve. You are most likely not working the stitches at the end of the row or perhaps skipping the first stitch or even some in between. The best way to cure this is to count the stitches across in each row. As long as your stitch count remains constant, you will end up with a square. I hope this helps!
I just finished my second dishcloth and I counted each row as I went and made sure to pay attention to my first loop and it turned out beautifully and square!
Wow great video, like the tip folding it in the triangle till it meets and then it's square, fantastic tip. I want to make these for Christmas gifts, thank you"
Thanks for the great patterns, I love them all! So nice to make two or three up, fold nicely, and give with a bottle of nice dish soap, (I like to use the smaller size bottle), makes such a nice gift. I have made many of these sets and everyone really like them. Keep up the good work, everything you show us how to do is soooo nice! Bobbie, from Terrace, B.C. 🥰
I have been having a really hard time with the boarders on any pattern I do and not knowing where to put the stitch and I either have too many or not enough In the boarder and it makes it look funny and bunched or something. This was really great explaining the boarder so will try this!
You are so right Charlotte! This fabric is definitely stiffer than wools and acrylics. I guess this is another reason why it works so very well for dish cloths. These things last forever!
I live in Japan and we make acrylic soap free dish scrubs. It has to be 100% acrylic heavier weight, and we make them small with many fun colors with different motifs like fruits and animals to tea pots and cups. The acrylic won’t come apart if it’s crochet in strong stitches and not in clothes form. Some people swear by acrylic dish scrub as it picks up grease and dirt like no other fibers would without a lot of detergent. If it’s not super greasy you don’t really need detergent at all. The brown spots from tanning in coffee and tea in cups come off without effort and detergent. You have to use shrink free acrylic and we have favorite brands for making acrylic brush. Try it. You would be amazed how it cleans without much detergent and dishes come out sparkling clean. You still need to wash the scrub to keep the grease off with soap/detergent but dishes won’t be touching much detergent so it’s easier and eco-friendly. People love it here.
Ellie W I actually bought some of these from a lady at the Insodong market while visiting Seoul! I use them for scrubbing and they work well. I still enjoy the cotton ones for washing other items down, including countertops.
You can always slow the video down should you need to Kori. Just hit gear-shaped icon in lower right on computer, or 3 vertical dots in upper right on phone to bring up the playback speed.
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern. You made it so easy to understand. I have lots of yarn I need to use up but it's "80% cotton and 20% other fibres". Do you think it would last? Or shall I buy 100% like you said.
Glad I’m not the only one having problems. I love the look of the dishcloth and the first row is easy but when I do the second row i get mixed up with which st is the single st and which is thedouble crochet. How can you tell them apart when you are trying to work into them?
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hands so I have took up crocheting several years ago when I retired. I have made many blankets and throws for gifts but I wanted to make my daughter and future daughter-in-law these for Christmas. I’ve never used cotton yarn but I bought up many colors because I am also planning on making hand towels. This yarn is giving my poor hands fits but I am going to try to get these made by Christmas.
What a saint you are Becky! Yes, cotton does have more resistance for the hands. I feel that a lot too when I crochet. Maybe you can treat yourself with some fancy (alpaca? wool?) when you are done. I think your hands will be able to breeze through a relaxing project with nicer yarn.
Hi, I really enjoyed your video. I do get confused on doing those sides though. (To much on my mind)....I hope mine turns out as nice as yours. I enjoy trying to learn the easy projects. I have been crocheting a long time, but I never got to branch out and learn more things. I am a subscriber and hopefully I can try and learn some more things beginner friendly from you. Thank you and God Bless you.

This is a great tutorial! I’m a knitted of dishcloths but I’m going to make these! Love the pattern. If we wanted to make a towel to match what is the multiple of this pattern? Would it still be in sets of 5?
Hi Bonnie, I love this pattern! I’m wanting to make it larger for a towel, can you do any odd number? I tried it , but I think I might have made a mistake.
I have a few questions…I bought #3 light weight cotton yarn is that ok? Do I need to make a longer chain & if so how many? And if I wanted to make a baby blanket from this pattern what kind of yarn?
I am well please to see your video, it's very easy to understand, thanks so much dear, so the problem is for me to get this multicolor yarn, will u please help me where to find this yarn? Thanks so much.
So the beginning chain has 25 stitches! When I did the sc then the dc, I ended up with 24 stitches. I ripped out once, tried again and still ended up with 24 stitches on the second row. What am I doing wrong?
Lorraine Dooner you’re not doing anything wrong, the pattern is in multiples of two. The extra chain is so that you can turn your work and begin working the first row. The turning chain/s is so that you are in position to work the next row.
After watching it again, now I got it🤗 each row always starts with a single crochet and ends with a double crochet correct? I made another of your simple patterns and it kept getting shorter and shorter. What was I doing wrong?
Hard to say what went wrong without a photo, but these kind of new techniques always have a learning curve. You may have skipped a stitch here or there. The beginning and ending of rows is where most problems occur. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Cozette Wendemu hmmm... that’s a bit tricky. I’ve seen these very cheap at shows- too cheap in my opinion. It all comes down to how you value your time. You can check on Etsy and see what they sell for there. Sorry I can’t help you more.
Hi I love this pattern and would like to have it a bit smaller how many chains would I use to have it come out right with the start of ending on a double and starting on a single I know I should know this but my brain cant seem to see it
I am obviously not catching on as well as everybody else here. She’s going too fast for me despite stopping and starting this video I’m just getting enormously frustrated. Any hints and tips will be gratefully received
Please tell me what these 2 stitches are called. If you do it in 2 colours it becomes the Houndstooth but I can't find it anywhere when you do it in 1 colour. Thanks
Hi Bonnie, because your initial chain is 25, is the multiple an even number plus 1? Thanks in advance! Such a beautiful pattern and great instructions!
I agree with the above comment

Thank you Rebecca! That's so very kind of you.
A simple stitch that creates a lovely fabric. Thanks bunches Bonnie!!

@@BonnieBayCrochet I do! I use cotton for dishcloths, I just got the Caron yarns on sale and figured I would make a quick blanket.
@@kaylynmueller9824 Ok, great! I so love those one pounders for afghans. Great yarn for the price and lasts for years! Take care.
Thanks for the video! I love making dish cloths.
Bonnie, you are such a good teacher! Thanks! I smiled at why we start in the second chain from the hook.
Great tutorial. I’ve had issues with borders on mixed-stitch projects in the past, your method works perfectly!
I loved how it turned out just as demonstrated. Thank you!
I love hearing this from crocheters! Thank you Lydia!
That is really pretty. I'm working on a blanket right now, but have this pattern on my to do list. I love colorful yarn for dishcloths. I like to pair it with a solid color too when gifting them. Can't wait to try it.
What a perfect name for that yarn. Looks like whipped cream! I bet it is soft. Thanks for your lesson.
It’s just worsted weight cotton but not too soft. This is more of a strong fiber that will stand ion to years of scrubbing!
Thank you for this great stitch. At last a dish cloth that I can actually accomplish with crochet, I have been doing them by knitting which I have been happy with and I have tried the crochet ones only to be discouraged. This is such an easy stitch but the results are an awesome project.

Hello very nice and easy, Thank you. I do a couples ove scs around the handle.
love the way you teach, but could I take this as a potholder if I take two strange
If you make 2 and crochet them together (for double thickness) it will work!😊❤️
That sounds really neat to be able to slow you down or speed you up, but I don’t see the little gear on my ipad. Is there a way to do that on an ipad?
May I know how many rows u hv done for dish cloth m also doing on it,mine is starting 25chains
If I wanted to make a bigger one what are the multiple stitches I need to do?
Just add a multiple of 2 to this Vicki!

Hi I love this pattern and would like to have it a bit smaller how many chains would I use to have it come out right with the start of ending on a double and starting on a single I know I should know this but my brain cant seem to see it
This is a multiple of 2+1 (for the turning chain).
@@BonnieBayCrochet awesome ty so much 🤗
Hi can I get the color name or code for this yarn?
I am obviously not catching on as well as everybody else here. She’s going too fast for me despite stopping and starting this video I’m just getting enormously frustrated. Any hints and tips will be gratefully received
You can slow the play speed down
I never get anything. Crochet is addicting and beyond frustrating. You're not alone.
@mariella925 sometimes that's just not good enough though. I wish tutorials were done so we didn't have to slow it down.
I watch the video then watch it again as I am writing down the instructions…I pause the video as I am writing…this has helped me a lot!!
I'm a beginner. And I just new you were going to do a chain 🔗 to hook it up. Lol. I must be learning something... 😂👆💙
Ha ha! Yep, that's what we call the starting point of crochet.
Very nice. Thank yu
Does this pattern have a name? Looking for a pattern I havent done in the past.
Please tell me what these 2 stitches are called. If you do it in 2 colours it becomes the Houndstooth but I can't find it anywhere when you do it in 1 colour. Thanks
This is sometimes called the two stitch or double stitch.
Do you have a matching pattern for a hanging kitchen towel
No I don’t Michele, but feel free to design one. This stitch uses a multiple of 2+ 1 for the turning chain. 😊
Is there a multiple for a blanket using this stitch?
Any even number should work for you Jerry!
Hi Bonnie, because your initial chain is 25, is the multiple an even number plus 1? Thanks in advance! Such a beautiful pattern and great instructions!
