I feel sorry for Jerry...not only losing his best friend and band member, but every single time he walks out of his door he has to answer questions about missing Layne. He handles it well since he's had years of practice answering those questions but it's got to be awful in a sense of not being able to gain closure because the only thing most people want to talk about is Layne.
I agree R.I.P Layne Literally a legend. It's also sad no one cares about Mike Starr He also Died, It's sad thet no one really cares about Mike, he was such a Great bass Player
The interviewer brought up Elton John since Jerry Cantrell covers an Elton song on his new album. Jerry mentioned Layne’s name first. It was mostly an Elton John discussion…
As a guitarist myself for over 25 years, there are some guys that still amaze me, Jerry is one of them, I have been highly lauded for my prowess as a guitarist by many people over the years, but I would never claim to be even a fingertip as good as this guy is. I don't know how he gets the sounds out of a guitar that he does,? I know for sure it's a lot of pedals and effects, also I'm pretty sure he uses a Bogner Amp, which is pretty fuckin cool in itself. I have tried to duplicate his sound on many AIC songs, and though I might get the basic sound, It will never be exactly like the Master, I bow to you Jerry Cantrell. The Legend.
Love Jerry to death. Man, every song he puts out is just masterful. So so so thankful for everything he has done for the world of music, and me personally- Alice pulled me out from a dark place. I hope someday Jerry is able to see how much he is loved. ❤️
I have a deep connection to Alice in Chains. Their music has been very inspirational to me over the years. Layne was a talent that can't be duplicated. He sang every note with a connection. As time goes by it it a blessing that we can revisit the connections to the songs that Layne had through their recordings. CHEERS 🍻
BLACK is just the most beautiful, haunting, mournful, melancholic and atmospheric album. I love it. Incredible lyrics, fantastic riffs, gorgeous harmonies and melodies. One of my favourite albums of all time. Jerry Cantrell is a fkng genius songwriter artist!
Just a beautiful thing to do for Layne and for the band it self to be able to move on and heal. The combination of Layne and Jerry will go down in history. God Bless!
Jerry is a genius with lyrics and music. Brighten is the latest of the musical expertise he has. I’m glad he is still performing and giving the rest of us his gift of music..❤️🕷
Alice in Chains was the first band that brought my son and I closer together after a terrible break in trust due to my heavy handed reactions to his teen outbreaks. We had a love of music and he was in a G&R and Alice in Chains inspired band (he played bass). We still love the work of Jerry's band to this day...
They’ve been my favorite band since I was a kid in the 90’s in elementary school and still to this day I listen to them every single day. That’s one of my favorite songs from the new AIC for sure
Love everything about Jerry and having to hear him talk about Layne non-stop (is what it is), I just want to give him a hug. Met Jerry on tour and it's a moment I'll never forget! ❤️
Jerry has to be one of the coolest people on the planet. You can hear and feel in his voice his emotions about losing his friend Layne. RIP Layne and Jerry stay cool.
Thanks for this segment. I just saw Jerry in Portland Oregon at the Roseland theatre on May 1st. 2022 for the “Brighten” tour stop. Great show and just want to say we love you Jerry up here in your home turf.🎶
Jerry is a phenomenal musician . His songs come from the guts and soul . I’ve seen a lot shows.Including Jerry in Charlotte nc, soon after Layne passed .. He did brain DAMAGE , AIC songs at outdoor festival.. Down in a hole was encore as a tribute to his lost bandmate Tesla, Angie Aparo, No Doubt …. A few more were there But true to his love of Elton John …. And influence thereafter .. I agree 100%. I saw in 2016 or so … 3rd time. He just keeps getting better in concert . Funeral for a friend was first song … Amazing sound ….. Jerry has never wrote a bad song Second solo album incredible!!!!
The best vocal duo I have ever heard in my lifetime. I grew up with AIC since Dirt & to this day they are my favorite band. Jerry's solo work is amazing as well but the melodies those two made were heavenly.
I get it with the 70's and those emotional songs Elton John sang and many other bands they had so many emotions back then as in the 90's with the grunge...❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶
Rob Halford grew hair and lost the accent... i kid. Love Jerry & wish people could speak to the depth of his writing/playing/singing versus talking about Layne in every interview.
I really empathize with Jerry. It's not just about him losing his closest buddy and fellow bandmate, but whenever he steps outside, he's constantly faced with inquiries about Layne's absence. He deals with it gracefully, given that he's been responding to those queries for quite a while now. However, it must be tough because it feels like he can't find a sense of closure - most folks are primarily interested in discussing Layne.
1:06 Alice In Chains is that artist for me, I never really understood lyrics Until I heard Nutshell. Seeing Alice In Chains in august of 2022 (show was on laynes birthday) was a surreal experience that I won’t forget
Si comprendo sirmpre he dicho qe Jerry es un gran compositor poeta escritor creativo y una persona enigmaticamente agradable con algunas facetas de noble y muy sentimfntal cosa qe eso me da mucha nostalgia por eso le doy la razon por haber escrito the black gives to the blue .
Elton is a great singer and man... he is gay who cares so is Rob Halford.... and the great Freddy Mercury. I don't care who they love I love them and thier music. I'm an Vet and a conservative Republican and an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
Most underrated songwriter and guitar player of the last 30 years. And a nice guy too!!!
I feel sorry for Jerry...not only losing his best friend and band member, but every single time he walks out of his door he has to answer questions about missing Layne. Well, you clicked on the video, so cat meet kettle.
I wouldn’t ask a single thing about him.. mine would all be gear related😂
I agree Angela.

Rock royalty - Jerry is a legend - one of the great writers, singers, and guitarists
absolutely!
Jerry's riffs are the heaviest I've ever heard. Metal bands wish they sounded as heavy as AIC
As a guitarist myself for over 25 years, there are some guys that still amaze me, Jerry is one of them, I have been highly lauded for my prowess as a guitarist by many people over the years, but I would never claim to be even a fingertip as good as this guy is. What the hell have I ?
The style and tone is brilliant
Yeah his riffs combined with his tone are the best. His tone is like lava combined with butter or something haha.
Jerry is the man. He’s the artist I have seen most live. It was worth every penny. His music gets better and better. His latest album is excellent.
Saw him 2x on the brighten tour. He's incredible. You can feel the music in his soul, especially when he makes eye contact with you.
Much Respect to Jerry and all the band past and present . RIP Layne. The band has had a huge impact on my life.
Just saw Jerry on his solo tour, sounded amazing! Also "Brighten" is kick ass, great album!
Saw Jerry in Boston on this tour! Sounded amazing
Me too, caught the show in New Orleans. He still sounds so amazing.
Caught it in Chicago and Indy. Awesome tour
Love Jerry to death. Man, every song he puts out is just masterful. So so so thankful for everything he has done for the world of music, and me personally- Alice pulled me out from a dark place. I hope someday Jerry is able to see how much he is loved. ❤️
Jerry is a legend.
And a great role model...

Truly the greatest human. AiC is forever in my heart, since childhood.
Jerry is such a class act and true Rock Icon . Caught the Brighten tour at Rams Head Live . Amazing show and album.
I always appreciate how Jerry is so willing to share his experiences the way he does.
They’ve been my favorite band since I was a kid in the 90’s in elementary school and still to this day I listen to them every single day. That’s one of my favorite songs from the new AIC for sure
Same here.
Same. I remember the first time I heard man in the box and them bones….I was like 11 and instantly knew this was something special.
Love everything about Jerry and having to hear him talk about Layne non-stop (is what it is), I just want to give him a hug.
Met Jerry on tour and it's a moment I'll never forget! ❤️
Jerrys always been my favorite musician out of Seattle. So glad he's gotten to work with people that were his favorites...

Great interview! Much love to Jerry Cantrell! My favorite musician ever❤️
Best blues rock band of the 90's. I hope people AIC in the future like Mozart.
The best vocal duo I have ever heard in my lifetime. I grew up with AIC since Dirt & to this day they are my favorite band. Jerry's solo work is amazing as well but the melodies those two made were heavenly.
Jerry is a legend
KING JERRY 👑 🎸
I love this "furry" Cantrell, so adorable!
We need to protect Jerry at all costs!! ❤️And all of AIC
Jerry is family, many years togather, a master, an inspiration, one of the greastest painters of all time. Thank You Jerry.

If it was not for Jerry Cantrell I would not be playing guitar 🎸 today! So thank you Jerry and Alice and chains ⛓️
I just love Jerry!
Jerry is the greatest at hidden meaning in his poetry. Lay down Layne down, would, Wood, man in the box well you know.
Rob Halford grew hair and lost the accent... i kid. Love Jerry & wish people could speak to the depth of his writing/playing/singing versus talking about Layne in every interview.
Love Jerry miss Layne so bad
Brighten is amazing! I love this album!
I love Jerry, always have. The music was phenomenal as well as, Layne's voice. Black gives way to blue hit me the 1st time I heard it
It's still so difficult for Jerry to talk about Layne.
Hope him and Greg collaborate even more.
I really empathize with Jerry. It's not just about him losing his closest buddy and fellow bandmate, but whenever he steps outside, he's constantly faced with inquiries about Layne's absence. Jerry is a strong man

Def thinned some, but the man's still got some beautiful fucking hair lol.
Never give up it's what they would tell Jerry I'm glad he didn't. TTFN
NEVER FADE is an AIC Masterpiece!!!
Dirt imo is a masterpiece start to finish. Not a bad song on that album
Si comprendo sirmpre he dicho qe Jerry es un gran compositor poeta escritor creativo y una persona enigmaticamente

the black gives to the blue .
I was on heroin for 7 years and I was broke and homeless, I can only imagine how hard it would be to quit/not die from it if you were rich and famous.
I’m not crying you’re crying.
Jerry Cantrell looks better clean shaven
Damn, I"m f@king old
Blue on black, tears on a river...
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
he grew the hair again that long ! lol thats brav... and insane !
I didnt watch the entire interview, but Jerry brought up Layne first in this one atleast.
Phenomenal incite
Where can I hear this song? On UA-cam?

Thought Johnny winter passed in 2014
How this man and his band aren’t in the RRHOF is disgraceful.
💯
Elton John is massive Watford FC fan.
Is Jerry losing his hair? 😱😔
bernie taupin could have been successful with steely dan if they hooked up first. bernie wants to be a cowboy, elton wants to have a cowboy.

Don't worry ladies and gentlemen Jerry is just fine he finds ways to distract himself just ask me
🤘🏻🇧🇷
Jerry's starting to look like Rob Zombie now, lol.
I’d still hit.
You all are right ..Jerry n Layne were not best friends ..Laynes best friend was named Smack ..aka Herion..sad but true.We miss you Layne..
Heroin was never Layne's friend. It was poison to his mind, body, and soul. His addiction became a disease that he could never recover from.
Jerry's getting thin on top.
Yeah he is
So 🤨 what are going to look like in your late 50’s?
@@peacelily64 I plan on sitting in my recliner, eating a bunch of junk food, and gaining 300 pounds. 💺🍔🍟🍕🌭🥪🍿🍦🍧🍨🍩🍪🎂🍰🧁🥧🍫🍬🍭🍺
@@peacelily64 And by the way, I'll be 40 in December. I know I look good. 😉
Shouldn’t have ever used the name Alice n Chains without Layne that should haunt him
What did Jerry swallow in that interview?
No Layne, No Chains!
😮🤔👌
Look at Jerry having diet cake instead of alcohol and heroine and cain
Jerry was Never into Heroin!!
I knew mike...its soo very guys made it original band guys are not there.
