My fellow UA-camrs that use all this fancy equipment while at events and moving around are amazing and super coordinated. lol. I'm still using my iPhone. I do have a DSLR and a Gimbal, but quickly realized that the DSLR camera was too complicated for me. I did take some classes to learn the rule of 3rds and some lighting techniques, but the model I had didn't have a flip screen, so I couldn't see what I was creating on my bead mat. So, phone filming it is. lol. Thank you for demonstrating this and showing all this cool event stuff. Hats off to y'all because this stuff is next level! Sparkle on! ✨
I still use my Weebill S it's my lightest gimbal and the ergo is the best out of any gimbals. Reverted back from RS3 Pro lol. Can this setup withstand the Sony 24-70 GM I?

I've really been looking for ways to trim down my setup and my RS2 has been the stumbling point the whole way so super glad to see this released with such a good payload capacity for its size.

Great video, Sidney. Considering it, but a part of me is moving to a more and more mobile setup. For CES coverage I shot everything on the phone and was OK with the results. Maybe this + seemo would be a killer combo for agile shooting but also retaining some of that quality.
Phones have become soooo good these days, but if you want smooth video with a large mirrorless camera, then this gimbal is definitely the way to go! Hope you had fun at CES!
Great review, how would you compare it to Zhiyun Weebill S or the Ronin Rsc 2? Would it be worth the upgrade?

Can you program these to do simple product b roll video. For example pan slowly, zoom in/out of a product, all desk mounted stuff?
Hi! Thank you so much for a very informative video about this gimbal. I'd like to clarify, when you say focal length, is it the same as when I'm zooming in while I'm using my 18-55m fuji lens? I'm currently using Fuji X-S10 and my main lens is 18-55mm. I usually zoom in on stuff when I vlog, does that mean I need to recalibrate every time I wanna zoom in? I am really hoping you see this comment. Yours is the most detailed video I've come across and I really appreciate it. Thank you!

*nice, it's good so see some DJI come out with a smaller Gimbal out there to choose from. Obviously the Crane M2S and M3 are it's main Competitors and it's Priced decently*

I'm thinking of getting the RS 3 Mini, but what's the difference between buying it just the gimbal by itself, and buying the "creator combo" (both are on the DJI website)? Is it necessary to get what's in the combo package, cuz I don't really understand what's in it as the website is unclear why it's valuable or necessary? The reason I ask is, when I bought the dji mini 3 drone, I'm glad that I bought the "fly more" package with extra batteries and charger. So is it the same type of deal with the rs 3 mini and the creator combo? Do you really need it is what I'm trying to figure out, and I can't see any comments about it anywhere.
I am chosing between this rs 3 mini and zhiyun m3 which is more compact and less attractive? :)

Full size gimbal are for pro jobs. For hobby and travel, a dji rs3 mini or crane m3 are better.
The technique when changing focal lengths can also be implied to other ronin models that are made from 2019.

Yeah, I was hoping there would be a gimbal that has a simple button to switch from horizontal to vertical, turns out it's not for mirrorless cameras. Uou have this on an OSMO 6 and it's huge if you shoot short and long-form video. Sigh..... I wonder if the Crane M2s would be a better choice or anything else in this price range? The ease of switching from horizon to vertical for me is extremely important for flexibility. Guess I have to stick with a phone at this point :(

How can I mount a camera with a camera cage that has a horizontal arca plate built in? This gimbal has the plate moving back and forward. But on my cameras the cage have built in arca plate. Is thare a way to mount that king of cage, without adding an additional plate to the bottom?

awesome! might get one. Would you recommend this on wedding gigs? i'm just starting out and plan to use 50gm and 24-70 Sigma on my A7IV. I borrowed an RS3 and loved the features but i'd prefer a smaller setup.
Is it compatible with A7iv?
I HIGHLY recommend this for weddings since it’s lightweight! However, you can’t attach too many accessories on it. If you mainly use a camera body, lens, and mic/light, then this gimbal is perfect!

Thanks so much! Balancing is all the same with most recent gimbals. Once you know how to do it, you can balance a camera on any gimbal. Tye locking mechanisms on the RS3 Mini are clutch too!

Yep, the Sony A7IV is def on the list!!!
I run the sony a7IV with a samyang 24-70 (the heaviest one out) and the mini holds it up with no strain or issues can defs run it :)

Even though I love small and light gimbal, Still RS3 mini might not the right one for me. I think I’d prefer dji rs3 size but hope they make it with carbon fiber arm. Currently I’m using RS2 with canon eos R5 with 24-70. Maybe I should wait DJI rs4 hoping they build it with carbon fiber arm.

I’m definitely interested in this gimble but my biggest fear is using a zoom lens. I’ve seen some reviews where the motor gives out & they have to lift the camera back up. Have you experienced any issues when using the 24-70?
Did you have to shoot at 24, then stop & zoom to 70 & re calibrate or were you able to just zoom in & out?

@@SidneyDiongzon when you do get to test with a 70-200 please do a quick vid to show how it handles the bigger lenses. I cant imagine it will handle the 70-200 2.8 mkii but you never know... the tamron 70-180 2.8 may be fine on it though...

Received the rs3 mini today and I’m having issues balancing it beyond 35mm
I’m on a Sony a7iv with a 24/70mm lens
Balance it for 35, and the motors will do the rest when zooming into 70

Of course! Tripods are a must and having a camera with good stabilization is important. Hope this helps?

The larger RS3 looks like it has a plate compatible with Manfrotto plates, is that correct? Too bad with these tiny arca plates that are so popular with consumers on youtube. Doesn’t work with Sachtler tripods or other more serious pro equipment.
No, it’s an Arca Swiss plate. I plan on using the Manfrotto RC2 quick release and attach it to the arca plate

Make sure your cameras compatible my Nikon D7200 isn't, no USB C slot, now need to upgrade more expense Manufacturers have a lot to answer for cable connection wise.

Looks amd functionality is exactly like the Crane M3. They came up with this to rival the M3 i guess.

Easy! The locking mechanisms really help make balancing faster
I had been hobbling along with the Crane M3 for a while. I was just waiting for DJI to come up with something smol and not janky.
Also, kinda fun to use it to document CES when that show decided to bar DJI from exhibiting. Always winning 😎
From personal experience with the Crane M3, the DJI RS 3 Mini is definitely better!

What's a Gimbal?
If i was Dji i would have remove the vertical mode and put a light instead like the crane m3 or weebill 3. Vertical mode is for phone. To use it on dji it is terrible you have to rebalance the whole shebang. It’s terrible. For this i prefer the weebill 3 which have a portrait mode and a light dual temp and a microphone. However rs3 mini is 300g less which is significant when you already have 1370g of camera + mic+ lens + cage. + nato adapter. At 429$ CDN i could be tempted at the next boxing day especially if Dji do an extra discount. However i didn’t see any discount on the rs3 when Zhiyun was selling their weebill 3 at 549$ CDN + taxes at Best Buy and 589$ CDN taxes and shipping included online. Today rs3 mini would cost 493$CDN taxes and shipping included. So it is basically 95$ less than weebill 3 but no light and no microphone embedded but a nato rail which allow setting our beloved Azden smx30 mic.
Hmm, I’ll stick with my RS 3. Removing the battery grip makes it super small anyway. No auto axis lock and Bluetooth is a real turn off. Once you’ve tried it, you can’t go back! Haha
Well, for the price it’s a pretty good value for a lot of people!

It would be great if someone (ANYONE) release a gimbal that calibrates itself automatically instead of having to balance it manually, which is always a PAIN. The rest of upgrades (screens, materials) mean nothing to me.

Hello: I have a comment. Like many of your viewers / subscribers, I think you as well as all those out there in the UA-cam-verse that has provided your well produced unpacking / beginner's guide / best gimbal review and like have missed the boat on ONE simple aspect regarding the DJI RS3 Mini gimbal - the setup due to the poorly manufactured guide rails absolutely SUCKS!!!!! And as a reviewer, I have yet to see anyone mention that the guide rails for the various arms are difficult to adjust and tighten. I arms move a little bit better; however, the two connected that impact the camera itself are the problem that I see. My setup is easy - Sony a7 IV with a 17-35mm f4 Sony lens. Well, because of the poor build/design of the DJI RS3 mini, one has to constantly dismantle and put all camera trays to the base position so as to allow the gimbal to be stored. Unlike the Pro version of the RS3 - the short length of the gimbal arms do not allow you to stow away the gimbal (anywhere) without placing the trays / arms back to 0. Well, that means every time I want to use the DJI RS3 mini I have to re-adjust all of the arms & trays to balance it. Have you tried moving the various trays up & down the rails - YOU CAN'T and then try to tighten them with those small finger breaking knobs. DJI has done a terrible job at manufacturing and providing a smooth finish of paint to allow the close tolerances of the clamps to move among themselves. i constantly have to diggle the trays with the camera on it to get it to move up or down the rails. UGH!!!!! This manner of adjustments has made my use of the DJI RS3 Mini (which I purchased on your's & other's recommendations) most UN-ENJOYABLE!!!! So, I stopped using it altogether, as it is lying in several un-serviceable pieces on the garage floor at the moment. So, I took out my old Zhiyun WEEBILL-S gimbal - tried and true that has never let me down. Quick setup and you don't have to also setup the lower arm as on the DJI RS3 mini. I hold true to the simple notion - if it doesn't work - then it does not need to be in my bag. Next time, try to tell us about UGH factors in these contraptions as they cost us quite a pretty penny. And when they fail to be useful, it's a good waste of hard earned money as well. Peace OUT !!!!

Setting up this thing is a nightmare, and when I finally managed to do it, it was not performing as adevrtised, on top of that it kept vibrting, have returned it, overpriced junk
My first gimbal was ronin sc.Before that I thought that dji is apple in the world of gimbals. It was the shittiest gear that you can buy for that money.
Creators have been using the silence corner “atoll” to quickly switch from landscape to portrait on tripods and gimbals with great success…
