Thanks for addressing the aperture issue on the crop senor. Never thought about it before but sometimes there is no need to blur the background. You seem to always cleanup the background which is great.
Thank you for sharing your processes so openly with us all, it is so appreciated!!! (when you said "it's not on the list, so we AREN'T taking it" I died laughing hahaha 🤣
Honey Book looks cool. I just signed up but it limits you to one type of business. What if I do Weddings, real estate, plus video projects as well. I can't find a contact email for the company anywhere. I'd ask them if I could. If you get this thanks for any info.
I just purchased an X-T3. Question about the face detection. Does the X-T3 give you the option to register faces? So when you have the face detection on, it will prioritize the Bride and Groom over all the rest. That is one option I did enjoy on the Sony cameras. In group photos only the registered faces would come into focus.
Nice that’s really cool. I think you can however I don’t use face detection enough to sure know about that. I’ll have to try it out. But from what I’m familiar with you can tap the screen on the face you want and that’ll keep only that one face tracking. I need to try it out some more.
@@jbivphotography Thank you for the reply. I just recently came across your videos, and am really looking forward to watching more. Oh, and of course I hit that Sub and bell icon.
Hey John i had a question. Im switching over to fuji, in hopes i can get results for events and weddings. You said you shoot manual, do you think the focus peeking is more reliable than AF
I have a custom built PC. You can check out the part list here. pcpartpicker.com/user/jbivphotography/saved/PnB8YJ You can totally do a full wedding on an iPad however it's not going to be the most efficient. Especially if you want to be able to edit very fast.
Yep. Personally I think any editing program is just fine. It really comes down to your understanding of editing and how comfortable you are with the program.
I do sometimes. But not a lot. I'm a big believer of getting most everything right in camera as much as possible so your work on post doesn't have to be too heavy.
I can’t use a crop sensor camera. These images are 1.2 and have no bokeh or background blur. Your style has full clarity and I think it’s great because you are very good at that style but the camera is limited creatively - there are looks that a full frame can achieve but this one can’t .
You need to have someone build you a real compute. Mac's use 3-4 year old technology and charge 400% raily are the kind of problems you have come from the computer. It's meatware. Get a Ryzen Thread ripper and you will never again look at a Mac!
My Mac is a Hackintosh. So not really a Mac at all. This also was streamed on the Windows side of my custom built PC/Hackintosh. I’m still on intel so it doesn’t compare to Thread ripper but at least cheaper and better than most Macs.
Holy man do you overshoot! I thought you were skimming through video. Lol. If that works for you, that's great, but you must have patients to go through so many images. I did this when I first started, but realized that the couple's don't purchase or use 10 shots of the rings or 10 shots of groom with a groomsman. Get the shot and move on. That's me.
Yeah I do tend to overshoot. I don’t mind culling through it at all but you’re correct. Half the time the couple doesn’t care about any of that stuff at all and I end up not even sending half of some of the stuff I take. I do enjoy having it at least.
very cool point to be made about glass, preferences, shooting what works for you @ 46:33

2:36:56 haha! That music drop was perfectly in sync with the edit changing!
LOL I never even noticed that.
Loved it all EXCEPT the crunchy snacks. Misophonia nightmare.
😂😂😂😂 I’m so sorry. Lol.
Thanks to John and the bride for sharing!
You're welcome. Thank you for watching!

Nice, thanks for sharing! How much do you generally pay the second photographer?
It depends on their skill level but it ranges between $350-$500 usually.
Just seeing this. all the images looks like they were smoothed/soften around the 34:20 mark. are these edited right out of the camera?

Is it okay to use Luminar for wedding shoot editing??
Yep. Personally I think any editing program is just fine. It really comes down to your understanding of editing and how comfortable you are with the program.

Do you ever crop your photos in post?
I do sometimes. But not a lot. I'm a big believer of getting most everything right in camera as much as possible so your work on post doesn't have to be too heavy.
