I've been watching you for awhile now...I lost my father last year and it was very hard for me....I was so stressed out! I went to the doctor and had my routine tests done and my kidney test was not good...So now I have been watching your videos now until I can get back to my doctor to discuss my health...keep doing what you do!
Sorry to hear about your father. One of the biggest challenges with this disease is that symptoms usually dont appear until a great deal of damage has been done. This gives each person less time to try and slow down, stop, or reverse some of the damage. It's good that you are learning about CKD between doctor appointments. If I had to pick key things to focus on, it is managing your blood sugar and blood pressure, and eating a kidney friendly diet based on your labs. Good luck!
I can see how you have improved by looking at your eye area. There is a noticeable improvement in your countenance. Great job. Thanks for the encouragement.
Thank you so much! I feel great. I'd like to say it's been a long road to get from where I was to where I am today, but looking back, it wasn't that long and it was pretty easy thanks to the advice from my health care team. It is absolutely amazing how much our bodys can improve when we give them the tools they need.
Adding a little sodium bicarb to your water will also help TREMENDOUSLY for those with end stage renal failure. In fact, sodium bicarb is one of the primary elements they use at the dialysis clinic to regulate blood acids as your blood is run through these machines containing sodium bicarb. My first kidney transplant in 1995 started to fail around 2009. Before my second transplant in 2012, I avoided dialysis by simply adjusting my diet to low protein but also adding sodium bicarb to my water and drinking it throughout the day. Now I'm on my second kidney transplant since 2012 and have learned these things from experience. Intermittent fasting is also a great way to detox the body and stay healthy.
At this very moment I’m so depressed I just found out that my husband is in stage 3 of kidney failure that’s inheritance I’m just so hopeless but when I see your video it cheers me up and hoping and thinking my husband can do it too like the way you did ... I have big faith in god and nothing is impossible to him 🙏
Stage 3 is a good place to learn of kidney problems - it gives him more time to make diet and lifestyle changes. Our kidneys naturally decline with age, so what's important with him is to focus on any symptoms and keep an eye on protein leakage. Check out the videos I do with Dr. Rosansky - you and your husband will feel MUCH better after listening to him.
I’m in limbo, I’ve seen 2 doctors who say that my bloods are good except for elevated protein in urine. I’ve lost 20 kilos of muscle in a few months and it’s very worrying. The doctors say I’m not eating enough and that because I no longer play much sports my muscles have reduced. But the itchy arms, leg cramps nightly and back pain tell me otherwise. It’s so frustrating trying to get real help! Thanks for your videos as they reassure me.
This will help me refocus once again! Will get yo work on weight loss( 50-60lbs), get better control of my bp, sugar! Thanks so much! Together let’s all get to 100!
You got this! With the warmer weather I need to focus on weight loss too. If you only count the weight loss over the last year (and not the little gains here and there), I've lost an incredible amount of weight. Now I need to lose weight and keep it off. :-)
One slice of bread, just one is equal to two spoons of sugar. It can b white bread or whole wheat it does not matter. Wheat is a poison that we have all been brainwashed into consuming because it is cheap and those selling it make a heck of a lot of money at our expense. Wheat is also addictive.
I was just diagnosed with stage 3a CKD. No history in family. I have had migraines since I was 10 years old and have taken Tylenol and Advil for years. Had an emergency appendectomy in June, 2018 and kidneys were fine. Fast forward 21 months later and I am at stage 3a. I had gone through 1 1/2 bottles of naproxen in that time frame and this has to be what caused it. I have severe symptoms of nausea, fatigue, low back pain, etc. I also have Ménière’s disease, so am ultra sensitive. I am 60 years young, pretty active and underweight with very low BP. I have been on a low sodium, very little processed foods lifestyle for nearly 2 years, yet still arrived at stage 3a. Thanks for all the advice.
Thanks so much James for being here. I think high blood pressure for years has led to my kidney disease. Although I've been on blood pressure meds only one doctor made a side comment to see a kidney specialist. No primary care doctor ever talked to me about kidney disease....NEVER. So, since they seemed to not care I too just ignored it. For the past year I've read a lot on the subject and watched videos on UA-cam. It would appear that a strictly plant based diet helps and also a diet that includes animal protein. I've read where people have halted their kidney disease progression by eating one or the other types of foods. It would appear that the key factor in both types of diets is Low Carbs. Although I've never been obese, I have lost a lot of weight on a low carb diet that included less meat than what I used to consume. As of last year my GFR has increased from 34 to 39. I don't know what it is now. My current doctor never said let's test it again in a few months or so. My urologist ignores my kidney disease and disagrees with me on issues I've found out that hurt the kidneys. I've unequivocally lost faith in doctors. In fact, due to my reading a lot (including medical studies) I've found out I know some medical issues that my doctors never knew about. And, I mean some significant medical findings. James, your lucky to have a medical team that cares. Good luck with your success.
Thanks Rick. It took a lot of effort to build my health care team.I was very proactive in interviewing doctors and dietitians, which isn't something they are used to doing. The most important part was my family doctor - who I had selected years ago due to his focus on nutrition over prescriptions. He still uses prescriptions, but always has a reason and a plan. I was very lucky to have had him when I was diagnosed - he was the quarterback and helped me form the rest of the team. The next most important was finding a good renal dietitian - there are lots of them, they just don't get the recognition they deserve so you have to look to find them.
Another great video! What I do everyday is I take one renadyl pill a day occasionally two. I also take one multi-vitamin d3+ everyday. And I also take one salvia pill everyday. It worked really well the first month. It seems some still. The renadyl is the best so far. The vitamin maybe helping quietly. And covid-19 does not like vitamin D. So who knows. I also drink a half gallon of water everyday. That's about the most I can drink. I walk 30 minutes to a hour everyday. But I find after 30 minutes typically I get overly tired and some body pain. That goes away with rest. I typically eat a big bowl of Blueberrys everyday. Really helps. Try to cut back on sweets. When I get a sweet tooth. I try to have toast with real butter and raw honey. And seems like it has little detrimental effect. I try to eat pineapple also. And have cutback on meat by 75%. Mostly just chicken & fish. Oh also I try to get 8 hours sleep everyday. And I quit drinking alcohol. A little was making me sick for 3 days. Disappointing. Also one side note the renadyl helped immensely with fatigue. And with all those changes I estimate I went from about 10% healthy to approximately 65% healthy. So thanks for the tips. It is appreciated. And I think my biggest weakness is probably a sweet tooth . That's a tough one. Hope this helps. Thanks
Water 💦 is a only way, My Husband Larry is drinking distilled water with me it’s awesome 👏, We use the pink salt no more iodized white salt , I check his BP daily , getting great 👍🏻 sleep 😴, two cups coffee ☕️ black , no drinking alcohol, quit smoking 6 years ago, I’m my Husband’s Chef & lifestyle change in his food. Plant 🌱 protein is the name of the game now, fruits 🍉 apples peaches, blueberry, no soda pop , I learn from you James and we Thank You 😊
@@DADVICETV Amen, Im so happy for your husband. He is so lucky to have you in his life. Kick that kidney disease ass. Love you guys and God bless you both
Hi James i just found this channle and i have to say this channel is awesome because it gives me advice about my kidneys and i have kidney failure and kidney disease. When i was 3 thats when i had kidney issues and now im 14 and im feeling better than ever and still fighting my kidney!
Glad to hear this info is helpful! There is lots of great info on here (and on my website www.dadvicetv.com) which can help show that for some people, you can reverse kidney disease. But most importantly, it shows just how important diet and lifestyle changes are to slow down, stop, or reverse kidney damage. Do you know the cause of your kidney damage? Since it happened so early it is most likely something much more difficult to control or manage, but many of the things I talk about should still be helpful in understanding how your diet and kidneys work together. Good luck!
Doing most everything suggested. Have been taking supplements for 60 years and not sure what to eliminate.Just recently found out my girl was 28 and I have been actively implementing your many suggestions of how to self help. I cannot get an appointment with a kidney specialist until the end of March. AAre there any specific supplements that I should avoid?
Hi! I am fairly new to your channel, but find it interesting and very informative, so I am hooked. Don't have any serious kidney problems, but was born with only one kidney so I am very careful so as not to have future disfunction. Thanks for all your advice.
Welcome aboard! Glad to hear you are taking care of your kidney - not enough people understand just how important it is to do that until it is a serious problem. Check out the new LIVE shows on Tuesdays at 6pm EST - I will have a Renal Dietitian on to share info, tips, advice and answer questions from our community! It's here on UA-cam, so you can watch easily and use the comments to submit questions during the show.
Im so glad I came across your UA-cam page last years. I learn so much from you. I have to really really take this kidneys disease seriously, and try to lose weight. Im going to start talk about my kidney disease on my UA-cam page . I really appericate you. Thank God for you . Love you and God bless
Great video as always! I’d add relaxation/meditation to your suggestions. I know walking is great but I’ve had to really work on not worrying so much because I was losing so much weight/muscle
Incidentally, James. There's no way I could drink the amount of water you suggest. Not with my prostate (BPH) issues. I'd be up all night having to use the bathroom.
I have kidney disease, I'm stage 4, Overweight, with high blood pressure.I don't excercise enough. I'm going to try and start to excercise more, cut back on my food intake. Hopefully that will lower my blood pressure. I agree it's not easy.
You can do it - and we are here to help! What helped me was to set small goals - then I could see progress. I also had my dream goal (getting to stage 2). After being diagnosed I started walking a little, then each week I walked a little more. Eventually I was walking 5 miles a day without even realizing it. Good luck!!!
Oh you are so right in all you say. So glad you reminded me to cut out sweets . I never was a sweet eater . But since I am limited in my food intake I crave sugar. But I realize that when I eat a sweet, you tend to want more and more.... yesterday we got some dried figs. And I had one slowly . And I saw I didn’t reach for the sweets or biscuits. I have not been able to see my Nutritionist, in years now. She is always busy and I can’t wait hours for her. But my one ☝️ kidney is stable. With the shut down I was not able to do my blood works but my Nifrologist called and asked if I am fine . And only will do blood works in September. So sweets 🍬 I am and will stop ❌ ✋🏻 😤...🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad to hear you are cutting down on sweets. There is so much coming out about how bad sugar is to our bodies - and with kidney disease we don't need any other issues. My doctors are also doing the same with labs. I can't wait to get new labs and see how much more I've improved.
Dadvice TV - Kidney Health Coach ... you have done exceptionally well . It is such a constant fight and deter many thing. And not everyone can keep up with it. It’s been going into my 11 th year . But I praise God that I constantly think of my kidney and staying in good health. You are very good at helping and giving hope to people.
Hello Dadadvise TV thanks so much for this valuable knowledge and information on the 18 bad habits for adrianal fatigue you are a life saver I've been suffering with this for a while now so it's good to know that there's information out there including on your channel. @@raynacionales220 Great questions Raymond! Vitamin C is extremely helpful - and is a key vitamin when managing anemia (it helps with absorbing the B vitamins you need), but too much can lead to kidney stones. My doctor has me on a higher dose of vitamin C and has me increase my water intake due to that. Vitamin E is one that most doctors restrict with kidney patients since it is more likely to build up in your system. To know what is the right amount of C and E for you, you need to work with your doctor or a dietitian. it is important to never self prescribe supplements. Always work with a dietitian or doctor - and believe me, you do not want kidney stones. They can be extremely painful. When it comes to your diet and eating rice - it is important to eat a balanced diet. It is easy to do that with rice as part of your diet. I personally do not eat much rice due to needing to lose more weight.
I have a question for your audience. What do you think contributed the most to your kidney damage? Mine is that due to my arthritis, body pain I took too many ibuprofen. ( which ironically never seem to take the pain away, and now I rarely take them, and alternate with Tylenol when I do. Other possibilities: I also drank water , lots of it. That wasn’t bad, but I drank the kind that had phosphorus. Now, I drink straight , plain old water. Also, I started to eat lean meats in an effort to lose weight I gained at menopause. I thought lots of lean protein was healthy. I honestly don’t know what else could have done it. I never was a drinker, quit smoking years ago, don’t eat too many sweets. I never added salt to my food. I am curious what other people have experienced. My mom gave up salt, and did end up in the ER, yes, be careful not to totally eliminate it, just be cautious.
My kidney damage was also caused by long term use of Ibuprofen. After a terrible car accident in November 2017, I used Ibuprofen to help with swelling and back pain. I never exceeded the daily dose - and actually used the 100mg children's tablets. I did use Advil PM at night which contained 200mg of Ibuprofen. Almost 1 year to the day later I was in the ICU with kidney failure. It didn't take long for the Ibuprofen to do damage, which caused my blood pressure to rise, which only accelerated the damage.
Thank you, James. There supposedly is something in Pinot Noir wine that is Kidney beneficial. If so, would 1/3 of a standard glass of this wine NOT be helpful?
When it comes to alcohol, what matters is how much (alcohol) and how often. There is some research showing a glass of wine may be helpful, but nothing rock solid yet for CKD patients. I personally wouldn't be concerned about having a glass of wine - wine is also a lower alcohol content drink.
There is an indigenous tribe in Latin America that eats no added salt. We might not need it. I need to plan and prep my meals better every week so I eat better. I eat healthy food and I am vegan but I like sweets and artisan white bread.
Alot of suggestions-why doc took so long to refer me to a dietician. A. Buying stuff you suggested making changes in diet, hope A-1c is better-on insulin, but not eating Much red meat. One month no wt. Loss yet. Thank you, are a life saver!
I’m 14 years in a cadaver kidney transplant and now my creatinine is 6 and gfr is 11, can I reverse this or are these tips for original body kidneys. Oh and can my one original kidney that hasn’t worked for 14 years be brought back?
Love your videos! I would like to see more plant based food plans. I know there are plenty of recipes online etc but most do not provide any nutritional information for us. Just very basic simple recipes. I saw a renal dietician/diabetic dietician for plant based but so heavy in carbs and I am a diabetic also. Saw your video regarding using Quorn and they are wonderful! As are their meatless crumbles!
You are so right! It is hard to find plant based recipes with the nutritional info, and even harder to find ones which are low carb. I end up making a lot of stir fry (veggies, water chestnuts, some nuts) and then make up different sauces for flavor (garlic, turmeric, ginger, curry, etc.) This has become my go-to meal since it's easy to make (I'm currently using pre-chopped and frozen veggies) and cleanup is a breeze. I am working with a dietitian on some videos - hopefully I'll have some great meal videos soon.
omg great video!!!... my biggest trouble is not having the energy to exercise... seems like i just want to rest with my feet up... Happy Easter everyone, and thank you for this grat reminder of what not to be doing as recover occurs...
When I have energy troubles I'll drink a cup of my wifes coffee. I can't stand the taste of black coffee, but it will help get me moving. Once I'm started walking I always go away from the house (not in a circle), that way I'm forced to have to walk all the way back. If I were to walk around the neighborhood I could always cheat and take short cuts back. :-)
funny you mention that .. i just started that as it does help i just have to watch my BP... ... on the 27 of this month i am getting a full prostectomy... the transplant clinic said i mustt be cancer free for two years or they will drop me from the program... This is very important for people to understand... the anti-rejection medicine is like fertilizer to cancer and so IF you are headed for a transplant you must be cancer free...I will be in touch as time goes on... @@DADVICETV
The standard formula for a healthy person would be 120x.5 which is 60 ounces a day. For an individualized target, you really do need to check with your doctor or dietitian. More water isn't necessarily helpful - but not getting enough is not good. The amount we each need varies by our activity level, health, the climate we live in, and many other factors.
Hi my name is Lorenzo I was diagnosed with cronic Kinney desiece I'm at stage 3b I really need your help my doctor said my numbers can't go up I truly believe in God to help me . I been watching your show can you help me with the way I eat
I'm not a doctor and can't give medical or nutritional guidance, but the one person who has been the most helpful for me are Renal Dietitians. They can do wonders to help you meet your nutritional needs. While not everyone can improve, at 3B you can certainly do things to help slow down the decline in kidney function or even attempt to halt it and a renal dietitian is the person who can help you immensely.

More to come! For 2020 I want to focus on education and accuracy, so I have each of my scripts reviewed by professional which adds some time to getting a video created. I have a number of scripts which should soon be finalized - so more content coming really soon. Lots of great stuff in the works - 2020 is going to be a great year for kicking kidney disease to the curb!
Great question! I talked to my doctors and the lab techs about which lab result is more accurate - fasting or not. In the end it all comes out the same as long as they know if you were fasting, there are some test which require fasting (they have no non-fasting option), so best to check. One thing which is important, don’t try to drink a lot of water moments before getting labs. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Anything you drink takes about 45 minutes before it starts helping, so chugging lots of water in the waiting room won’t help with hydration.
Many thanks for the great advice. I take the following supplements on a regular basis. I would be grateful if you would let me know if any of these are bad for my kidneys. Here are the supplements: Omega 3 (EPA, DHA); CoQ10; Vitamin D3 (4000 IUs); Selenium; Zinc; Magnesium Gluconate; Dandelion Root; DIM (for liver support); Garlic; Choline & Inositol (for liver support); Milk Thistle Extract; olive Leaf Extract (winter); Ginko Biloba. Are there any supplements that are particularly good for kidney function? Many thanks again for all your help.
Your list reads very similar to my medicine cabinet. I use this Turmeric/Ginger/Black Pepper (amzn.to/3c9YFA0) daily. For each of the supplements you take, you need to make sure your doctor is aware and that you are taking each one for a reason. The dosage is also important. For example, while taking Magnesium may be helpful, taking too much could be a problem.
Glad to help. We have an amazing community of Kidney Warriors and the the more we can share tips, tricks, and information, the better we all will be. thanks so much for your support - it means a lot!
The best I can say it to take all of your meds as prescribed! Now during the phase of finding just the right meds (which includes the type, dosage, and TIME of day to take them), it can be very helpful to use a home blood pressure monitor and take your blood pressure each morning, afternoon, and evening. I did this and shared the results online with all of my doctors and they were able to make tweaks to my medication almost daily. After about 1.5 months we had my meds figured out and my blood pressure remains under control all day long. I will be talking a lot about this in May (World Hypertension Day is May 17th).
Awesome topic - and one I've suffered from in the past. This is a good thing for the Tuesday live shows with a renal dietitian. In the meantime - I drank dark cherry juice and added cherries to my diet to address my gout. I only had it in my feet, but it got bad at times. Something in dark cherries worked amazing.
I cut out almost all sodium. Turns out I was overdoing it, and I felt terrible, low blood pressure. I'm reincorporating some salt. Half a teaspoon over the course of a day.
A lot of people don’t realize too little sodium can cause problems. I like to buy only low sodium food then add my own salt using a grinder. I choose either Redmond Realsalt or Pink Himalayan Sea Salt. It allows me to get my daily sodium, get extra micronutrients for quality salts, and these taste so much better than heavily processed iodized salt. Do you have a favorite salt you like to use when you reach for salt?
When I had this issue, the first thing my doctor had me do was look at the foods I eat and remove anything which causes inflammation. Download my food list at www.dadvicetv.com/food As inflammation decreased, so did my protein leakage. I then had an odd increase and we discovered that I have an allergy to soy. I removed all soy and my protein went to 0 and has stayed there ever since. Not everyone has an allergy to soy - for those who do not, it is an anti-inflammatory and helpful. Hope this helps!
Great Couch! you look fantastic . life style changes have given me more energy, i am more focused and able to get more accomplished . ????question does white fish count as an animal product??? I will confessed that this diabetes has caused me to feel depressed because if my blood sugar is too high and i get lethargic and get less accomplished. My blood sugar is much better now that i am eating less animal product and i don't even miss them. hooray !!! Eating veggies and nuts makes me feel less hungry and so much better. I did not know that sugar causes a build up of uric acid. I have a build up o uric acid in my blood which is very painful. My doctor has put me on colcrys to decrease uric acid in my blood. Next I will modify my diet accordingly. 5 stars to everyone thanks
James or anyone..Please help....I need to know if taking Dr. Berg's Whole Cruciferous Food pills are ok with Stage 3 kidney disease ...I have fatty liver and want to take these...thank you and you do an awesome job James!!!!
I am a huge fan of Dr. Berg's UA-cam channel and his approach. There is not a lot of details on what all is in these pills, but there is nothing that jumps out as an issue, especially since there are so many things in each tablet. I would like to know how much potassium and/or phosphorus is in each tablet - but I get super nerdy with everything I consume. Chances are these are perfectly find - especially Stage 3. But since I'm not a doctor, make sure your doctor/dietitian know you are taking these. Most likely the only concern they may have is other medications or foods that may increase gas. Thanks for your support and sharing!
@@DADVICETV I love Dr. Berg!!! He has helped me so much more than my regular doctors!!!! You also have helped me with kidney disease so much more than my kidney doctor also!!!
I am not familiar with this supplement, and a quick check online brought up a warning not to take it with any medical conditions. Your best bet is to let your doctor know you take it so that they can give you a good answer. When it comes to supplements, always make sure you are taking them for a specific reason and your doctors are aware.
I am stage 3! Doctors told me there was "Zero Chance" of improving from Stage 5 and that I had to go on dialysis. I'm so happy they were wrong! I feel amazing, have tons of energy, and my kidney disease isn't holding me back from doing anything!

Most people have no idea that one slice of bread is equal to two spoons of sugar and that wheat does a lot of damage to the body. Number one thing that needs to be done for better health is to take wheat totally out of the diet. Not part way out but all the way out. No wheat of any kind ever and I can guarantee that in less than two months you will feel better than you do now. There is also a great chance of losing weight by losing wheat, rye, oats and barley.
Hi...my mother has just diagnosed with ckd stage 4 wid gfr 27....i asked nephrologist about renadyl supplements nd he refused that its not true😞😞i m sooo disappointed...she has body aches can u suggest something for that?nd i want mh mother to try renadyl but nephrologist is not agreeing
I am sure her Nephrologist has a reason. I would ask them for what that reason is - that way you have a better understanding, and you can verify it isn’t from lack of looking into Renadyl. From my experience, we often have to keep pushing our doctors to explain their treatment strategy to us...which often causes them to more closely examine what they are doing (or not doing). While I can not think of any reasons a doctor wouldn’t recommend Renadyl, there may be a valid reason and the doctor would be happy to share that.
@@DADVICETV ohhh, ok. I weigh about 140 lbs. I guess I should only be drinking 70 oz? Is it dangerous that I have been drinking so much more than that for the passed 3 weeks? Thank you so much for responding!
@@lynette562 You're ok - you've just been drinking more than you need and spending more time in the restroom. It takes a lot more water for someone not on a water restriction to run into problems. Glad to see you are getting your fluids!
@@DADVICETV thank you! Yesssss, SO much time in the restroom! Up at night having to go, too. Im glad I didn't cause any damage to myself. Thank you so much for your input!
Your doctor will most likely use the standard formula, which is 1/2 ounce for each pound of body weight. So if you weight 140lbs, you would drink 70 ounces a day. Doctors typically start recommending a water restriction at Stage 4 or 5. Some doctors will recommend more water if they have you taking additional vitamins, such as vitamin C. Each persons daily water target will be based on your health, medications, and supplements you are taking and your doctor can determine your individual target.
Most kidney patients have no problems fitting fish into their diets. I have videos that talk about diet and how PORTION control is the key. For example, if you have high potassium, then a banana would be a bad food choice. But if you are low in potassium, then a banana is a great choice. If you are within range (not high or low), then you can fit SOME bananas into your diet - just don't go crazy and eat too much. Hope this helps! Here is another video which may help: www.dadvicetv.com/food
I have no personal experience with that, and it is possible to over-use CBD oil and cause harm to your kidneys. My recommendation is to be upfront with your doctor and get their advice. Many doctors are aware of many situations where this can be helpful and their experience can be invaluable.
I took a guess on your age and used a GFR calculator. It puts you at Stage 3A - around a GFR of 50 - but that is all based on guessing your age. Overall you found out very early - time to make sure you are not doing any of these bad habits and are eating a good diet. If you have any symptoms, work with your doctor/dietitian to address what is missing in your body to squash them. Most people can life with no symptoms with a GFR of 20-30 or higher...so you are certainly in that higher category. Keep an eye on blood sugar and blood pressure - we don't want anything that will accelerate kidney damage. Otherwise it looks like you got very lucky to catch this early!
Dadvice TV - Kidney Health Coach I’m 34 turning 35 this coming june 2, i use to have high blood since i was in highschool and im now taking Losartan 50mg day and night as maintenance to control my blood pressure until now i dont know where the root cause or where my high blood came from still researching. Lucky to see you in youtube been doing all your advise. Thank you so much will follow everything you suggest. By the way what age did you use in your computation? Thanks in advance God Bless you and hopefully we all were able to reverser our kidneys 🙏☝️
The first step for me was reducing inflammation - so I had to remove all foods from my diet that cause inflammation. For me this also included removing soy - which I never knew I had a small allergy to. Soy is normally anti-inflammatory, but some people have an allergy to it and are not aware. Good luck!
Can i suggest an activity to help you be healthier even more? Hehe I suggest you do a Triathlete life style because i saw in your previous videos that you had kidney disease! Gotta take care of myself because i am showing signs of kidney disease. ☹ just a suggeztion tho. Hehe but trust me you'll feel better when being active!
Why would you ask your doctor anything about nutrition since nutrition is not a part of the medical schools training. Your cab driver may know more about nutrition than your doctor unless of course it is a doctor of nutrition and not a doctor of medicine. See an ND, not an MD. You see MD for dangerous drugs and you see an ND to heal by nutrition.
When I was first diagnosed I was told to drink 150 ounces a day - that was a lot! But I did it. I have a video about what I add to my water to make it easier to drink your daily target (True Lemon, lemon, lime, or cucumber).
Kidney stones are a pain...literally. And they can come from a number of different sources. My doctor had me add lemon juice to my water every single time - and to use lemon when cooking if possible (such as on my veggies). I've been doing that every single day and haven't had a kidney stone since late 2018! Lemon juice is amazing at helping prevent many types of kidney stones.
@@DADVICETV doctor attributed the stones to "oxalate" an ingredient in tea, which made sense because i use to drink a lot of ice tea, the unsweetened type, (in place of water). Now I cut that out totally. And yes, now i put lemon in everything!!
Supplements are not all bad - some are helpful. Just make sure you are taking them for a specific reason and that your doctor is aware. Some supplements I take include CoQ10, Vitamin D3, vitamin C, ProRenal+D, Renadyl, and a few others. All are great for me since I am taking them each for specific reasons and my doctors are all fully aware.

I came here from one of his older video's and automatically thought the same thing.
God bless you, James!
Much much better paced than the previous "12 bad habits that damage your kidneys" video. Quickly describes the 18 bad habits. Good job.
James thank you for all the helpful advice!Your looking healthy!
I have almost every habit you mentioned sadly! I am stage 3 . I am about to change my whole diet and lifestyle!
You can do it - and at stage 3 you are in a good place to improve your future health and slow CKD.
You are great to be helping people get a grip on their health I appreciate your advice and effort love you
Thank you!
Another great video!
What I do everyday is
I take one renadyl pill a day occasionally two.
Thanks

Good luck!
I love this one. Tons of info. And right to the point
Great information.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for educating us. I am so grateful for you. Looking great James!!!
Thanks so much! I have a lot of really good things in the works - including some interviews with industry professionals! Super excited.

Thanks James for the encouragement!
great video,thanks
Glad it was helpful! I've learned a lot about making videos over the last year and they move along much faster now. :-)

Im taking vit. C and vit. E each day...is it bad fory kidney? and do i have to lessen eating rice? im an asian..
@@DADVICETV what are some of your meals?
I have a question for your audience.
What do you think contributed the most to your kidney damage?
Mine is that due to my arthritis, body pain I took too many ibuprofen. ( which ironically never seem to take the pain away, and now I rarely take them, and alternate with Tylenol when I do.
Other possibilities:
I also drank water , lots of it.
How are you now doing? As i May ask.
Its very hard to say that you have a kidney disease because you are looking super healthy
I love that! I am so eager to get new labs and see where I am!
I personally wouldn't be concerned about having a glass of wine - wine is also a lower alcohol content drink.
your a good person.

You're looking good James.
And I feel amazing! Can't wait to get my next labs when the hospitals are back to normal.

My first bad habit is not drinking enough water. My goal is to drink enough water. If I weigh 120 lbs... how much water should I drink?
The standard formula for a healthy person would be 120x.5 which is 60 ounces a day. For an individualized target, you really do need to check with your doctor or dietitian. More water isn't necessarily helpful - but not getting enough is not good. The amount we each need varies by our activity level, health, the climate we live in, and many other factors.
What type of sweet can you eat? Besides certain fruits.

I have a number of scripts which should soon be finalized - so more content coming really soon. 18 thanks 1 for each with a thumbs up for James. Is it a good idea to take the lab test while fasting?
Great question! I talked to my doctors and the lab techs about which lab result is more accurate - fasting or not. In the end it all comes out the same as long as they know if you were fasting, there are some test which require fasting (they have no non-fasting option), so best to check. One thing which is important, don’t try to drink a lot of water moments before getting labs. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Anything you drink takes about 45 minutes before it starts helping, so chugging lots of water in the waiting room won’t help with hydration.
Dadvice TV - Kidney Health Coach Thanks.
Forgot to mention Tumeric. Many thanks again.

Tell me how to overome protein in urine i am so so disturbed these days
When I had this issue, the first thing my doctor had me do was look at the foods I eat and remove anything which causes inflammation. Download my food list at www.dadvicetv.com/food
As inflammation decreased, so did my protein leakage. I then had an odd increase and we discovered that I have an allergy to soy. I removed all soy and my protein went to 0 and has stayed there ever since. Not everyone has an allergy to soy - for those who do not, it is an anti-inflammatory and helpful.
Hope this helps!

When it comes to supplements, always make sure you are taking them for a specific reason and your doctors are aware.

Wow James, you are a walking advertisement for your advice! You look good! Are you stage 4?! You look like you could be down to stage 3.
I am stage 3! Doctors told me there was "Zero Chance" of improving from Stage 5 and that I had to go on dialysis. I'm so happy they were wrong! I feel amazing, have tons of energy, and my kidney disease isn't holding me back from doing anything!
@@DADVICETV In the video, I thought you said you were stage 4 but you look so good that I actually thought you must be stage 3. congratulations!
@@DADVICETV That right sometime doctors can be wrong ... James you kick that kidney disease ASSS and me too. I want to live long enough to take care of my son. Love Love you James and thank you for caring about us
Stage 3 what foods to eat
I mention my DR that 50000iu of vitamin d make dry mouth, pee frequently and feel my back uncomfortable! And without any hesitation he prescribed me again! What should I do?
I lowered my carbs to 20 g cut out all refined sugar limit my protein intake and I mostly just eat meats and vegetables but I like your idea of eating some plant-based proteins if I can find any organic non-GMO proteins I may swap those out started doing one meal a day and raise my good fats things are getting quite a bit better Here's something for you a Spiritual food Shepherdschapelcom Theseasonorg explains the whole Bible God bless
Ive been drinking 88-110 oz of warm water a day. I am 44 yr old female. Is this too much water??
The standard formula is .5 ounces per lb. So this would be the standard target is you weight between 180-220lbs.
I HAVE STAGE 3 A KIDNEY DISEASE HOW MUCH WATER CAN I DRINK
Your doctor will most likely use the standard formula, which is 1/2 ounce for each pound of body weight. So if you weight 140lbs, you would drink 70 ounces a day. Doctors typically start recommending a water restriction at Stage 4 or 5. Some doctors will recommend more water if they have you taking additional vitamins, such as vitamin C. Each persons daily water target will be based on your health, medications, and supplements you are taking and your doctor can determine your individual target.

Is eating fish bad or good? If fish is okay, how many ounces a day? What about bananas, which are high in potassium?
Most kidney patients have no problems fitting fish into their diets. I have videos that talk about diet and how PORTION control is the key. For example, if you have high potassium, then a banana would be a bad food choice. But if you are low in potassium, then a banana is a great choice. If you are within range (not high or low), then you can fit SOME bananas into your diet - just don't go crazy and eat too much. Hope this helps! Here is another video which may help: www.dadvicetv.com/food
What about cannibus and/or CBD? If it helps you sleep, it's probablly worth it. CBD seems to be the "miracle cur" for everything lately.
I have no personal experience with that, and it is possible to over-use CBD oil and cause harm to your kidneys. My recommendation is to be upfront with your doctor and get their advice. Many doctors are aware of many situations where this can be helpful and their experience can be invaluable.
Hi James, my latest creatinine result was
158 umol/L
1.8 mg/dl
i dont actually actually know what stage im in hope you can help me. Thanks.

I’m 34 turning 35 this coming june 2, i use to have high blood since i was in highschool and im now taking Losartan 50mg day and night as maintenance to control my blood pressure until now i dont know where the root cause or where my high blood came from still researching.

By the way what age did you use in your computation? Thanks in advance God Bless you and hopefully we all were able to reverser our kidneys 🙏☝️
How to reduce heavy proteinuria
The first step for me was reducing inflammation - so I had to remove all foods from my diet that cause inflammation. For me this also included removing soy - which I never knew I had a small allergy to. Soy is normally anti-inflammatory, but some people have an allergy to it and are not aware. Good luck!
Hi. What type of physical problems you face while on stage 3.
Can i suggest an activity to help you be healthier even more? Hehe I suggest you do a Triathlete life style because i saw in your previous videos that you had kidney disease! Hehe i mean i do triathlons as well and it improves my overall health. But i stopped due to this covid shit. Haha. Anywayyy.
90 oz. is a lot of water! 😮
When I was first diagnosed I was told to drink 150 ounces a day - that was a lot! But I did it. I have a video about what I add to my water to make it easier to drink your daily target (True Lemon, lemon, lime, or cucumber).
Mountain Dew is suppose to be very bad for your kidneys.
I thought I could never give up soda, but I did it an now only drink water. I add lemon juice to each bottle of water to help prevent kidney stones.
i have none of these bad habits and still i got kidney stones
I drink Diet Coke and diet root beer.
Have you ever wondered Have you ever wonder if you could survive with one kidney? Ready to discover...?
I take supplements. :(
Supplements are not all bad - some are helpful. Just make sure you are taking them for a specific reason and that your doctor is aware. Some supplements I take include CoQ10, Vitamin D3, vitamin C, ProRenal+D, Renadyl, and a few others. All are great for me since I am taking them each for specific reasons and my doctors are all fully aware.
i really have trouble in sleeping...
