As a camping vlog, it doesn't 'need' to be a cooking vlog too. We romanticize outdoor cooking but, eating outside is still eating. Fuel for energy to be outdoors enjoying the wilderness. Just got to wondering how much content on YT is about 'eating'. & I view a bunch of food vlogs

As you were driving over the camera leaving, I said to myself "he always has to come back for the camera". Boy I chuckled when you came back and said it. Great ending!!! For one, I truly appreciate you sharing your adventures. As you were showing the water, I had a 63 year old flash back to a Colorado trip my grandparents, mom and brothers took. It reminded me of that Colorado stream behind the cabin we stayed in. My grandpa made us boys fishing poles out of kite string safety pins and a small branch. O remember us seeing the little fish in that cold clear water as we dangled our lines in the stream. Great memories, thanks for bringing them to mind.

Looks like Slim has gotten his stove close to near perfection though one hopes he'll still do a bit of baking/heating a beverage on it when it comes back out in the fall. A treasured memory from picnicking in the Colorado Rockies was putting drinks in a nearby stream to chill and the scent of pine pitch as we ate made everything taste better. The fair was simply, cut veggies, a bit of chip n dip on the side, and being more of a carnivore a hamburger of a grill still stirs the appetite to be outdoors all the more. The hills do get taller as one ages, but not the soul renewing delight of listening to a creek, the wind overhead, and the quiet where you can hear the crunch of pine needles under ones feet even if it's just a few yards away from where you've parked..

Thanks Slim I really enjoyed the stars at around 8 minutes. Be careful of ticks. You are living a life many would enjoy if they could only take the leap I think..including me.

Spring - my favorite season - daytime temps are nice, nights good for sleeping due to cooler temperatures, there is no humidity and little to no bugs - when the leaves start coming out everything has that beautiful fresh green colour - best season of the year.

There's a gizmo called a "tick key" that looks like a great way to remove one of these pests. I once came out of the woods after a short hike, and had 3 of these bugs on me. Fortunately, none had attached yet, so I only had to brush them off. But I got one of these gadgets so that I'm ready for when they do.

Did you get it from Amazon? I need one. I got bit by a tick last week while camping in Kentucky. I’m not sure how long it was attached, but it was difficult to remove with just tweezers. Unfortunately, we only got the body out, dang it. Went to the doctor and got a prescription for the antibiotic, just in case. I wish the doctor would’ve removed the head, but she said it will work it’s way out on its own. Gross, right?! It’s still embedding and it’s been been 6 days😳

@@kristiejacobs4854 - It's been awhile, but I think I got it at the local Meijers. That's the local chain of grocery/department stores in the midwest - they're in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin. But Amazon would have them, I'm sure, or any decent outdoor store that carries more than just clothes designed to make you look like you're an outdoorsy person. Search for "tick key", "tick removal tool", etc, and you'll find it. Mine is a plastic tab with a hole that tapers to a slot.
But at this point, this would only be good for the next tick. It won't do anything to remove the head now, if it's broken off and embedded in your skin. I don't know what you can do about that except wait, or have someone dig it out.

While you were sitting there, speaking of impending spring, I was thinking about the return of woodticks. Last March, I took a walks in the northern Minnesota woods near my home. I glanced at the low, thin brush around my legs and, even though it was barely 40 degrees out, the ticks were already there...reaching out to catch a ride on passers by. When I got home I found two such stowaways on my jeans.

I know you enjoyed camping more than I did the video...but just barely. Nice to see you out there again doing your thing. And the beer always makes the day end well. Good luck with the prognosis on the tick Slim...hate those bastards!
