One time my mom took me to a meetup with all of her friends, and good god it felt like I was surrounded by a thousand chittering daemons of gossip who shouted over each other, talked across each other, and never let anyone else get a word in edge-wise, but somehow each perfectly understood what the other was saying and it was all horrible things about their husbands, boyfriends, and that one cute guy on their favorite football team. Then as one they all turned to me and gushed about how adorable I was and how I wouldn't turn out like all the nasty men in their lives, but instead like that one cute guy on their favorite football team they fantasized about. It was one of the few times in my life I felt true fear.
In context though DW was imagining that because Mrs. Read spread DW's secret that she thought she was going to die from eating a green chip (because the Tibbles told her those were deadly). She found out and came back home to see Mrs. Read talking about the exact same thing, then she started imagining that. Maybe you knew this already but I just wanted to see how much I remember from that episode lol

Because Arthur is average, they force him to challenge Brain to a checkers match to show that “average kids can beat the smart kid”. While trying to cheer on Arthur, they talk behind Brain’s back. This upsets Arthur but they don’t stop. During a match, they cheer constantly which ruins his concentration and annoys him, he says, “Quiet already!”. Afterwards, they force him to give a speech and fake smile. Arthur has finally had enough and cracks under the pressure. He ends up screaming, running away coughing and angrily saying, “Thanks, but I think I should do this on my own.” Muffy posts the video of his speech online, humiliating him. Everyone in the school acts scared of Arthur (except for Binky) despite only being angry out of built up frustration and only yelling once. They backstab him by cheering on Brain instead (except for Buster) which only makes Arthur feel worse. The episode ends with Francine apologising and Brain and Arthur playing for fun, as friends. TLDR: Arthur’s friends are jerks in this episode, except for Buster! Francine and Muffy always cause drama like in another episode, The Good Sport, where Francine takes out her jealousy on Jenna for winning a sports trophy by passively aggressively showering her with unwanted attention. They backstab him by cheering on Brain instead (except for Buster) which only makes Arthur feel worse. The episode ends with Francine apologising and Brain and Arthur playing for fun, as friends.
TLDR: Arthur’s friends are jerks in this episode, except for Buster! Francine and Muffy always cause drama like in another episode, The Good Sport, where Francine takes out her jealousy on Jenna for winning a sports trophy by passively aggressively showering her with unwanted attention.
Also the plot of A is for Angry had similar toxic hive mind themes to The Pride of Lakewood.
