So cool to see this in hindsight, after playing the final released version of Steel Assault. I was surprised to see there was originally a whole other bullet-hell boss phase to this fight, plus an animated face window for the boss, showing reactions to damage & attacks!! Amazing!!
Man, this game has changed so much in its years of development, and it's honestly been worth the time spent. I just played the current demo (not available anymore as I post this, of course) and I threw it on my wish list immediately after. I have to admit, each iteration of the game really feels like its own, almost as if each could be a sequel to the previous based on shown content and changes in pixel design/music. Even so, I'm very much looking forward to the final product this year.
I'm hearing lots of Genesis chipset sound effects and i see a VERY FAMILIAR looking target cursor from another great Genesis title that involves a Solider of the alien variety. Very impressive. Can't wait for the end result.
I stumbled into this game when looking for something similar to the stellar Alien Soldier. Imagine my joy when I see that this game is so inspired by it that it even uses the very same "LOCK" target icon from Alien Soldier.
I love the Sonic sound effects in this game. Too bad I didn't hear any while I was playing the demo. Plus, the voice clips, the music, everything about this is perfect. Like Metal Slug meets Megaman X meets Gunstar Heroes. This will definitely be worth the wait
just finished the game and the falling against jetpack guy wasn't anywhere, i'm sad this was removed... i wonder why since the pixel art was done on it already
@@robertbektas1810 The original music from this can be restored by toggling an option in the audio settings to change the soundtrack to use FM remixes of all the songs instead of the arranged tracks made by Qwesta (Which are the default setting)
Please have an option for full screen, straight borders without cut corners I know its to give oldschool CRT effect but if its optional then its cool Game looks amazing
*Me Watching Someone Play Dark Souls:* Why would anyone put themselves through that kind of frustration to figure out a boss pattern and get good at a game? *Me Watching This Fight:* Hell yes! Hurt me more, daddy! Seriously though, these are some really amazing mechanics and presentation. Wishlisted and likely a launch day buy for me.

Yeah. I wonder why they removed them. They looked so sick
I feel loved in this game

I felt the same way! Although I wasn't looking for this, I stumbled across it.

Why was the second part of this boss fight not added to the final game

Also they changed the music. Sounds better here. :(

CRT or bust. It's how these games were meant to be played.

Man this game looked so great when it was an 8-bit platformer but you just had to turn it into a 16 bit bullet hell shooter. What the heck.
8 bit looks better than 16 bit?....
might as well turn it into 32 bit full 3D by that logic. It's about the aesthetic.
Sorry 16 bit looking way better lol
