Incredible review from such a small channel. Had an OP1WE but i just couldn't get used to those switches, even with the lighter switch pack. Now i bought an OP1 8K and i don't ever wanna miss that modability again. EGG are becoming the Wooting of mice.
I was so close to buying the OP1we. Glad I held off because despite its small size, I find myself putting a ton of hours into the OP1 8k. It's an amazing piece of kit.
Yeahhh man by far the best coating EVER, i have Logitech, G-Wolves, Razer, Pulsar, and Ninjutso mice but this is different, you get marks and prints on it (i have the all black version) but the mouse never feels oily or slippery, i have no idea what or how they treat their mice but it works.
I got the OP1 8K two weeks after my Beast X and I regret buying the Beast X after using it. The position of the hump on the OP1 is perfect for my pincher claw grip. I still love the Beast X but I feel it'll end up in a drawer soon. I did notice some stuttering when using 8K in Kovaak's, but luckily nothing in any other games. I slapped on some Corepad Pro's (ordered the OP1we ones since feet are the same too), but beware: they do not take into account the screwholes. Anyway I felt that the stock skates were waaay to slow. With Corepads and an Artisan Hayate Otsu Soft I honestly ask myself the question where we go from here. This is literally my endgame setup (no pun). Also, chalky is the perfect way to describe the grip. Which is funny because the brand is EGG, it feels like an egg and it's colored like a white egg. It was instantly the association I had with it the moment I took it out of the box!
Jake, you're quickly becoming my go-to for mouse reviews, you're killing it. Thanks again for another fantastic review, got my OP1-8K arriving tomorrow and after your review? I couldn't be more excited. Thanks again brother.
I think whether 8khz works or not depends mostly on the length of the cable and not the type. I got a 1.4m paracord on my dav3 wired and it works flawlessly. When I ordered it i was being told that the cable should be max 1.5-1.6m for 8khz to work. And also I heard zaunönig had to delay the release of their mouse a while ago because the wire was too long and 8khz didn't work so they shortened the wires to fix that and most 8khz wired mice have a shorter cable than the standard 2m.
Hey, nice review. A few things, I also own one of these and your absolutely correct about the build and enthusiast type of features. You mentioned motion sync off in 8k, correct me if i am wrong but I think at 8k it forces motion sync off completely. I noticed we got a 1.06 firmware update. Do you know if that pertains to fixing the click option in the mouse software as you mentioned? I have been trying to find the release notes but have yet to be successful.
@Endgamegear_Max Hey, thanks for the response! Another question down the road will you guys be offering (and not that it's bad) optional para cables with stress relief just like the stock one?
Great video. I also bought the OP1 8k. One question, the stock switches are these Kahil GX switches. They don't feel light enough to me, you mentioned in the video that you can buy lighter ones. Do these lighter switches also support speed mode for short click latency? Another point is that I have 18 x 11 hands and in the first few days of using the mouse, my hand starts to hurt. But over time it has eased up. So if you have larger hands, especially in terms of width, I would tend to advise against this mouse.
How you grip your mouse ? I got 19,5 by 7.5 and got no problem with even smaller mice the thing is you most likely forced a grip for your other big mouse on to the OP1 that of course doesnt work you need to chang your grip
@xythiera7255 7.5 in width is pretty slim. That's why you don't have issues with the OP1. With 11cm or wider, you can get cramps because it forces you to contract your hand more. I Don't know if you know what I mean ;)
Been using my op1 8k for a week and a bit now, got a slight qc issue but a replacement got easily sent out and even with the issue I have it's easily my fav mouse (I own like 9 other mice altho 3 are broken lmao).

Gotta say I didn't expect a wired mouse to become my favourite in 2024. I used to be a wireless elitist but this one has changed my mind. I really can't find anything to complain about. Ngl I can't notice the difference at over 1k polling rate even at 1000fps + and 360hz in kovaak's but I mean if it's there you might as well use it since it's a wired mouse anyway. If you're on a wireless mouse I don't recommend going over 1k though because you drain your battery like 4x as quickly for basically no reason. I thought it was just another cope by people who were also saying that monitor refresh rate past 144 or 240 isn't noticeable but I legit don't notice it on the mouse AT ALL.
Are the switches really light? Like I have the beast x and I love how light those switches are. Have you tried the beast x to know the difference between the two? Also I have the original padsmith temple of dreams mousepad and I was wondering how it compares to like a Saturn pro/game sense radar/gsr2, have you tried these ones to know?
