Followed your amazon link to get that break free clp and i added to cart and ordered, because your demo of it impressed me. Well, not until it shipped did i notice that what you have listed in your Amazon store is just Break Free LP, without the Cleaner aspect to it. I had to initiate a return and they're charging me to ship it back to them. I was hoping it would let me exchange it for the correct stuff which is the same price, but no bueno. Please change that so no one else makes that mistake and loses 5 bucks. Thanks.

I picked up the WIHA bits you recommended and I gotta say you were 1000% right, great bits. Thank you sir.
It's worth noting that Loctite Blue 242 sets up in 10 minutes, so make any adjustments right away. Though, depending on the type of metal, temperature, and air reaching the threads, this time can change. I fully agree that you should let the knife sit for at least 24 hours, if not longer, judging by the testing I've done and through general use (I've had issues with a few cantankerous machines where extra care, correct use, and correct product selection were important and Loctite has technical data sheets available on their website). Also, I've heard rumor of white threadlocker. Maybe there is white threadlocker, but blue Loctite can look white if it crumbles during disassembly. Still not sure about that stick style Loctite on such small screws compared to liquid.
Precision drivers with the free spinning end are a great option I would recommend. Also, disassembly on a microfiber cloth helps to keep screws from bouncing away. The real question is: what cleaner is best to remove the wood bits on the Shaman after a day of hard batoning? ....Yeah, I went there.

I use one of those magnetic bowls that mechanics use. You can work over them, and if screws drop, they go in the bowl and hold there.
I have a lot of CLP, I do firearm maintenance on the side, it works very well with carbon build up and like you said also acts as a lube
Don't use stubby drivers on knives you will apply too much torque at poor angular alignment to their small screws thereby inclining them to strip out. Use long narrow drivers like wiha provides.
CLP worked great, and all I had to do is get my gun cleaning supplies out; thanks for the tip!!
The magnets on the digital angle finder is also good for retrieving screws, bearings and other small metal items that do make it to the floor or carpeted areas.

Two things, Nano oil is amazing! Put a drop on each side of an otherwise sticky PM2’s pivot and now it’s like silk! Falls free and snaps open like a whip. And two- Break free CLP is great at cleaning blades. Leaves a nice sheen on the blade that looks great and keeps it protected when you’re storing your knife away too.
Great vid MC, one thing to add is (at least for me). I only use Rem oil outside, stuff stinks pretty bad.
3in1 oil makes a great dry lube that is easier to come by than REM oil. I used to use it on things I was especially afraid of attracting gunk towards, and now even have used it on pivots and had good results in it not contributing to gunk build up. Only bad thing is that they should make a bottle with a finer tip. It's got the viscosity of water when first applied and can get everywhere. The "carrier" substance evaporates very quickly though and is easy to clean up. I don't know what's in it (not silicone) but it's almost like a graphite floating in an ultra quick evaporating solvent.
@MC, I'm wondering what your sense of knowing about "knife guys & gals" might inform you as to how many are also "gun guys & gals""?" IMHO, based on being 76 and inflicted with BOTH "maladies" since moving to NE-PA @16, and thanks to several cousins, being surrounded by "hunting culture" with its' attendant hardware, whatever works well to care for firearms is also excellent for the care and feeding of knives, and that whatever is good for one's boots is also good for any knife associated leather! Backing up this "ethic" are the teachings of my career Marine Corps officer Dad, as well as those of my own Army training sergeants! I'm NOT wishing to be preachy here, just wonder what your sense of all that tells you...???

That's cool I was wondering about my Microtech otfs I haven't had them that long haven't really needed to clean them and I just so happened to have some REM oil that I've had for about 10 years and it's about a quarter full still so good to know I can use that up finally🤪 And you say that dries a different way so as not to attract dirt good thing I didn't spray regular oil in there then. Just saying I love nano oil, it’s like franks red hot. I put that shit on everything! I use it for all my knives except otfs of course and it works miracles on guns and other tools
I would recommend fitz. Just my opinion. I have used it about year. I live in wet country if it isint snowing it is raining.
I now I’m a little late to the party but I just want to give some handy advice.
I blow out my knives but I use a cmos sensor cleaning bellow (you can also use an airbrush compressor) instead of a workshop (or household) compressor or canned air.
Workshop (or household) compressors and canned air blow so hard they can actually scratch the knife internals, not fully clean by creating air pockets and get water in the internals because of the cold attracting moisture .
A cmos sensor cleaning bellow is also much cheaper and often comes with a soft brush you can put on the air outlet.

All good grade lubricant for my knives. Since having kids I use them for food prep and cutting fruit all day every day.
There is a Rem Dri Lube spray which may be what you want over regular Rem Oil spray that you used.
We use CLP in the Army for cleaning carbon out our weapons, and use it for lubrication.

Hi Like your cleaning video's. Question, will CLP help with a "hazy" blade. I have some vintage knives that the blade has a haze on it and I buff, wash, and no mater what I do I still have a haze.. Ideas??
I can't wait to do this on my knives tight. I just sharpened them on my whetstone. For safety reasons, probably should have done things in reverse!
If you spend much time on gun pages, REM Oil gets no love… my experiences with it, it just doesn’t last, Guns still rust right through it… now CLP… awesome!
how about cleaning DLC blades? does the CLP work or is there other recommendation??
My friend the KME knife sharpener system you own, would you say it is way better and easier then the Worksharp guided sharpener system with the Gripomatic attachment. Because I own the workshop guided system and I bought the lapping stick on abrasive felts and it does a good job but would you recommend the KME system over it. Im not a pro at it at all but I want to make sure I dont hurt or mess up my knives so do you think the KME would be easier to use and do a more high quality job over the workshop guided angle system.

For otf, I use motorcycle chain lube.
Would advise against using locktike purple? Concerned I might use too much of the blue and then get the screws stuck lol.

I will say.... on an old video.... cranking the pivot too hard on ceramic bearings can cause dents in the pivot causing a gritty feeling action so be careful

Quick question do they actually have titanium hardware for EDC knives? The reason I ask is because titanium strips out a lot easier than steel.
The reason I know this is because we use them on occasion in my hobby FPV quad copters. They are hex head 3M nuts.
The thing is the hex heads weill strip out if you don’t have a good bite in the screw head. I was thinking , if they used torques heads, maybe they wouldn’t strip out as easily????

The titanium they use for our FPV quad copters is a very very cheap titanium. I would imagine that the titanium to use for knife with a Torx head or probably on a higher quality. They’re probably much more expensive as well.

Is that WIHA st of torx bits a good quality set because shouldn't we buy good ones so they don't strip out the screws. And how much is that set you have because if you tell me there good quality then I will buy them. Thank you buddy.
They're sold separately on Amazon but the torx bits are just over $19 and the bit holder is just over $12
Wiha is a German tool company and they make high quality tools. I own the exact set of torx bits and driver, and I also have a set of precision screwdrivers for work. Both are excellent and I would recommend Wiha tools to anyone looking for a quality set of tools

I think that WD-40 is bad. WD-40 is a drying lubricant. Meaning it pulls moisture out of a moving part. Which is why is stinks for bike chains. Makes it attract dust and dirt like a magnet. Personaly, I would avoid it.
