Kym out here featuring Michael Jordan in his video with NO HINTS at all. what a pleasant surprise.
It’s pretty rare for even the big networks that broadcast NASCAR to get an interview with MJ. Kym straight up just walks up to him and gets some words from him 😂. Loved it.
What a legend 🤣🤣🤣
I Wonder if Kym even knows how private that guy is. He talks to no one. Wow
I just about choked on my food LOL
This may be irrelevant but I just found out that MJ has been making around $400M a year for his ownership stake in the Jordan brand with Nike. His total career earnings as a player in the NBA was $93.2M.
Seeing that he travels with a ‘presidential’ security detail makes more sense to me now considering his notoriety and wealth.
I still prefer F1, but Nascar seems so much more down to earth and accessible to the public.
Thanks for insight Kym
the accessibility REALLLY sold me, definitely gonna attend one of em in the future.
It really is. If you want even more access to the paddock, drivers, and teams go to a Indy Car race or IMSA sports car race. Those are awesome for fan access to everything.
and yet, there are still only 6 cars that have any chance of winning. Start from the back? No problem!
yeah it’s crazy how personable the sport is and how close you can get. Was one of the coolest live sporting events I’ve been to.
It might look boring on tv, but nothing can prepare you for when you see it in real life
Just casually asking MJ a question. No big deal.
Lists him as the GOAT tho. 💯 epic.
What a treat to get the NASCAR rundown from Dale Earnhardt Jr!! 2 time Daytona 500 champ, and 15 time most popular driver award winner. He’s NASCAR royalty.
And happy to chat
@@KymIllmanEven though I don’t watch much NASCAR now, Junior has a great podcast/UA-cam channel. Seems like a nice guy.
For someone who follows NASCAR, Indycar, and F1 passionately it was good to get a crossover perspective. TY
Casually chatting to Dale Earnhardt Jr and Michael Jordan now... another great video!
As someone who grew up on nascar and has grown into a huge F1 fan, this was awesome Kym! Was waiting for the shock about the open garages lol.
I love the access that you get to drivers, cars, and teams in Nascar vs F1. I've been to all three (Nascar, Indy, and F1), with F1 having the least access. Great insight Kym, thank you!
Totally agree!
Wow! Wasn’t expecting to see MJ on your channel! All the drivers seem very friendly
Kym - so neat you were able to experience Nascar close-up. Most fans get hooked after standing right against the fence to hear (and feel) a 40 car pack go by.
I lov ur enthusiasm for new experiences (Nascar AND Nashville Hot Chicken in one weekend).
It definitely make sense why u’ve lead such an interesting and successful (entrepreneurial) life. Keep sharing - lov it all!
ACCESS was the biggest thing that stood out to me. can't imagine a f1 driver letting kym into his RV or the engineers room. well.... bottas or norris might.
Looks super fun. Would be really cool to one day make the trip all the way to USA to watch one of these live.
Great work conducting those interviews solo, you did a great job with them and they really added a lot to the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved this video, really great insight to NASCAR for someone who hasn't ever really seen a race. I would love to get one of those motorhome spots and get my grill on during the race, that is something else.
Great video! I’d love to see you do this with other classes of Motorsports! You give a great perspective 😊
More to come!
@@KymIllman WEC, Indycar, IMSA, WRC, MotoGP, Formula E!
Love to see you at a NASCAR race Kym. I’ve been a big NASCAR fan for years and then I got into F1 as I got older. So seeing you have a great time at a NASCAR race and speaking with a lot of different drivers and personalities was a total blend of two of the series I love. I hope you get the chance to go to more NASCAR races in the future.
Great job presenting NASCAR from an outsider's viewpoint. Thanks. I'm from Oklahoma, home of Christopher Bell.
Awesome recap of the nascar ! the fact you got that close to MJ is nuts !
This is such a great video to showcase NASCAR! Thanks for all you do Kym
No problem!
I was a big NASCAR fan back in the 90s. Followed F1 some back then and then drifted away from racing (except Daytona) for several years. Re-engaged with F1 in 2005 and have been a diehard ever since. But I am glad that it seems you enjoyed your weekend. Very cool that you were able to talk to Jr. and that you were recognized!
Kim I never comment on UA-cam ever, but this was an absolutely brilliant video. And the fact that you had Michael Jordan in it! Absolute class sir, keep up the good work.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
I grew up an F1 fan and have gotten into NASCAR this year. I have to say, NASCAR has been more action packed compared to F1 these last 2 years
It’s action packed because of gimmicky manufactured entertainment. It’s like the WWE of auto racing
@@YEEYEE-dy8tkit’s all entertainment dude.
@@YEEYEE-dy8tkthe only so called gimmicks are stage breaks. But what would call F1 sprint races and DRS? 🤔
@@christopherpettit2304 You forgot playoffs, overtime, rain cautions on road courses, etc. the list goes on. Most F1 fans hate the sprint races and rightly so. DRS or push to pass is just the reality of upside down airplanes trying to follow each other in dirty air. Fact is the vast majority of NASCAR fans are extremely upset with the current state of NASCAR
@@YEEYEE-dy8tk while both nascar and WWE aren't fake, at least unlike the WWE it's not scripted. Otherwise dale jr would have won championships
on the 'rain cautions on road courses,' isn't that mainly because of the local laws on lightnings? and if the rain is too much (I mean the cup still raced in COTA and xfinity on the roval that one time when they had torrential downpour)
Amazing video and something I love about NASCAR is how open it is with the fans.something that you should also do is try going to a motocross race whether Pro Motocross or MXGP especially Budds Creek as you’ll see how open and completely different it is to asphalt car racing.
I've been fortunate to do both - Daytona v Monaco and each event has its own great momnents and thoroughly entertaining if you are a motorsport buff
As a NASCAR fan, I love seeing people from other motorsports come over and check out some NASCAR. It's a great sport with some great fans and atmosphere. Cool video. Thanks for sharing!
I loved it!
Amazing video as always Kim, You are keeping us very busy in a good way with all the content.
Kym, what an awesome video. You are a must watch for me whatever subject you’re covering. Always provide insightful commentary. Thanks yet again.
Glad you you find the videos insightful! Lots more content to come this year!
What a great video. Such tremendous access and friendly drivers and crew! Thanks for this one.
It is a completely different atmosphere to F1!
Shout out to Nate Bargatze!! That guy is a fantastic comedian!
I agree!
Great job, Kym! Thanks for visiting and featuring NASCAR so beautifully. 'See' you in Spielberg!🏁
This was a super comparison between the two series. I just love all of the background information you provide in your videos. P1 Kym Illman P1.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic recap Kym 👍 glad you enjoyed your first NASCAR weekend. My fandom goes back to the 80's & love all racing both 4 and 2 wheels. But NASCAR is my favorite and if you thought it was loud at Nashville you should be at Bristol. There is a reason they call it Thunder Valley :) Safe travels and continued health and happiness.
your content is incredible, look forward to millions of subs, only a matter of time. Great stuff!
Fingers crossed!
Great work. I was eagerly anticipating this video and it was awesome!!!
Glad you could get to a race! I follow a lot of different motorsports, but NASCAR will always be my first and true love. It's what I grew up with and I'll always watch the races. Happy you enjoyed yourself, Kym!
Another great video , thanks for keeping me sane during my work lunch breaks 👍
Awesome to see you out for NASCAR. I am just getting into it myself. This was a great behind the scenes.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the video I’m a big nascar fan and it’s great to see another perspective on the sport. Some F1 fans seem to have a hard time understanding the appeal and even though you weren’t won over. It’s great to hear you enjoyed yourself!
I know it wasn't really your intention, but watching this and then seeing your IndyCar videos has made me EXTREMLY thankful that I grew up a race fan here in the United States. Seeing yours, and the people in your comments, reaction and surprise to the access that fans have to the cars and drivers makes me appreciate the access even more. Growing up and going to races I always thought the access was normal everywhere, but now I see its not.
At my first Nascar race the thing that stood out to me was the sound/noise. Sure, most racing series have loud cars, but Nascar compared to many others, its just like a Thunderous noise that goes through your entire body. The single thing anyone who has never experienced Nascar should do is go to an oval (preferably a larger one), Atlanta or Daytona or Talledega where the entire pack of 40 cars goes by at the same time, hopefully you can sit/sand on the front straightaway in the first 20 rows or so. An experience unlike any other.
Great video !! You didn't miss much....Thanks for the video
Thanks for keeping an open-mind about competition ✔✔✔✔
The sports still fun to most, but I remember it in the early 2000s with Jr Martin Gordon and Johnson. That was the last few good years of NASCAR
whoa! Didn't know about how NASCAR works, especially bts. Thanks Kym!
Hope you enjoyed your time in Nashville! So glad you were able to catch a race!!
I had a great time
Well done Kym. Great how you caught so many different aspects. Well cut too. Still shots aren't your only talent, that's for sure.
The IMSA race I go to at Watkins Glen International is very open too. It’s general admission. You can everywhere except the pit area, track itself, and hospitality you didn’t pay for. It’s really fun. It’s not as a big deal or as popular as NASCAR or F1 though. There’s even an open pit walk and demonstration pit stop
MEGA job with this one, Kym. Bravo.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated
Awesome video Kym! Glad you were able to experience NASCAR! My wife's cousin is Chris Buescher who you spoke with that had his gloves in the mini guitar case! LOL
He was happy to chat. All of them were.
Kym, circuit of the americas has RV parking on the track along the back straight by the large concert stage. It’s pretty cool, you should check in out in October! It even has a pool.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep an eye out for it in October
Excellent & impressive video Kym, very well put together, pity F1 doesn’t allow you to shoot video at the track..
Great video. Top level racing in the USA is so different to Europe. I dropped into an Indycar race at the Milwaukee Mile a few years ago and it was like being at a UK club meeting... in a good way!
It is a great and relaxed atmosphere in Indy and Nascar
I know you've been to a couple IndyCar races, it looks like the NASCAR garages and fan access etc... are much more similar IndyCar than Formula 1.
Hope you had a blast. Would love to see you at the BRISTOL NIGHT RACE
Great video as always!
Thanks again!
Thanks Kym, insights that I would not have access to, good content
Love the new intro that you made just for Nascar
Those NASCAR cars sound amazing
This video was like watching Martin Brundle on the grid interviewing star after star. Great video
Cheers.
Excellent glimpse into NASCAR! How many people recognized you while you were there?
Fewer than 20.
We’re really at peak Motorsport rn coz nascar looking diverse was unexpected
Yet another great vid Kim. Well done.
What a fantastic video. Excellent work sir.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You should also try a NHRA drag race event. The pit and driver access is way more open than even NASCAR. And um, you’ll for sure need some fantastic ear protection!
Nice one Kym. When you are home next you could feature a Supercars race for your audience, we have got "truck"racing too only we call them Utes .
Those were some great interview you even got Michael Jordan
This was great. You should try to do Daytona or Talladega!!
I was working a CART race in Miami back in the 90s and there was a NASCAR truck race on Saturday night. I was totally shocked how loud it was...and I had a sponsor pass and watched from the infield. I think my ears are still ringing.
The fact he casually goes up and talks to MJ and Dale.
Drinky drink 😂
Oh for God sake, Kym just casually chatted with the most famous person on earth 😂
You saw more passing in one NASCAR race then you see all year long in F 1
They are certainly different categories
That was awesome, thank you 🎉
I was watching the photographer in front of me, and it was you! Pissed I didn’t say hi!
This is awesome! Dale would be proud
kym from photographing F1 to talking to MJ, pretty awesome!
6:52 THE GOAT
I missed this video somehow, but i watched the trip from BNA-JFK-LHR today and I was wondering the whole time - WHY is he in BNA - now it all makes sense :) Glad to see you in NASCAR - even for a quick trip.
Love your Carhartt shirt Kym
I’m a big fan
Michael Effing Jordan makes a completely un hyped appearance. Kym is unique.
Yep
Kym, have you covered any Formula e races yet? I just went to my first e race last weekend and it's pretty different! Packed field on the circuit, lots of overtaking, and battery management strategy can make things pretty interesting.
Being allowed to film at the event makes a big difference!
Huge
amazing video Kim! Your living my dream. Always wanted to be a Nascar Photographer. Still working and grinding hard.👊🔥
Best of luck!
@@KymIllman Thank you Kim! much appreciated, thanks for being an inspiration to me and over 100,000's of photographer around the world!
38 races a year, good lord!! But at least they can drive race to race and some are in the same spot. But that’s a long season!
Would love to see IMSA (or WEC) some time. Super interesting video!
Great video. Really appreciate it.
Glad it was helpful!
Kym - the long trouser/pant rule is for all manual workers in the US for safety reasons. All contractors doing manual work (builders, electricians, gardeners etc etc) all have to wear long trousers when working by law, you won't see a contractor wearing shorts no matter how warm. I am a British expat living in the US and I found that strange for a while, now I am used to it
Hope you get a chance to do the Daytona 500 sometime. Probably the closest thing in NASCAR to the weekly F1 circus in terms of access.
Like #175 . . . welcome to our world (Nascar.) Should also mention that during pre race prayer and National Anthem, crew, driver, kids stand next to driver. Only then do drivers get into cars. Also there is a pre race INSPECTION (Hawkeye Optical Scar) in a separate building the day before. If your car fails 3x it will start at the end of the field.
Kym, How many drivers and people did you run into that watched your channel?
A dozen maybe.
Another brilliant video
Thanks again!
Bro is casually talking to MJ
The one NASCAR Team member practically snapped to attention when you walked into the trailer. He knew you from Tiktok.
The main thing I take away from this, is the easy accessibility to drivers. And that even as an accredited photographer at a F1 race.
Your not allowed to take video. While at NASCAR you can.
this was some good insight into Nascar
I would love nascar to have races on other countries too..! that will be so exciting.
We just need you to blow your mind at the Isle Of Man TT now!
One day.
you should go to the daytona 500 you will like it
This why I love motorsport and racing cars
If you want to see some other out of this world racing and atmosphere, make sure to visit the 24h on the Nürburgring next year (May 30 - June 2, 2024). 🤯
One day maybe.
I remember going to last year’s Contender Boats 300 and needless to say I almost lost my hearing.
