- Alright, you asked for some clips of my live solo gigs so here it is!!
This was my Christman Eve 2021 gig at The Forge Irish Pub in Brandon, FL, an extremely cool place to hang out and I love playing here!
I'm playing some 70s and 80s covers on acoustic and really hope this goes not get taken down! That's another reason why I only gave you short 40-60 second clips of each song instead of the full songs.
Here are the 70s and 80s cover songs I'm playing live:
Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams
I Just Died in Your Arms - The Cutting Crew
Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
I Wanna Go Back - Eddie Money
The End of the Innocence - Don Henley
Africa - Toto
Acoustic Solo (to Metallica's Nothing Else Matters rhythm)
Seminole Wind - John Anderson
I Love a Rainy Night - Eddie Rabbitt
Love is a Battlefield - Pat Benatar
The Gambler - Kenny Rogers
Have You Ever Seen the Rain - CCR
Keep it Metal,
Jason

I am a retired professor spending my retirement playing solo acoustic gIgs. I just found your channel a few weeks ago and started watching. I just want to tell you that I really enjoy your honest and sincere approach to everything you do. I relate to much of what you said in this video. I also try to play tunes that make sense to me and do not follow the trends and I have found a lot of success doing that. I also keep my tech simple like you do. I use a little chorus and echo on the guitar, some reverb and echo on the voice that that's it. And I especially respect that you do not use pitch control. I also absolutely refuse to use it. Not saying others should not, it's just not for me. I want my audiences to hear my real voice. I am a fan. You are a good musician and you have artistic quality. After I finish this comment I am going to subscribe. Thanks for sharing. What you share is a gift.....Brian
@@BrianBlue202 Thank you for the kind words and glad to hear you’re being true to yoursel!
I actually just posted a recent live solo show I did at SeaWorld over the weekend:

Thanks for sharing this. Love watching your performance videos. Very inspirational
Thank you for watching. I have a recent gear setup video for live shows here: ua-cam.com/video/8ljF5v5Pcp8/v-deo.htmlsi=LfdQtJ4qC7hOeUzm
@@jasonstallworth I watched that one when you posted it 😀. Also a good one. 👍
I love most of those awesome songs! Need more harmonies 🎸❤️
I’m working with my wife on harmonies for some songs
A1 choice of music❤❤❤
Thank you. I posted a more recent show here with the same types of tunes: ua-cam.com/video/9R4Kul_ngYI/v-deo.html
I love your videos. Great songs and performances!
🙏🏻
Luv it! You are an inspiration! Excellant how to info...
🙏🤘
You sing these great. Love that you added some country and Creedence. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you…always gotta mix in a little of that!
I gave my brother and tele I made.,and he gave me a washburn with a broken nut..I had a spare nut...and I installed the piezo under the bridge and it rocks pretty good.still building. .great video man..
Man that'd work great for these types of gigs!!
I can't wait for that! I'm putting my headphones and start working on an guitar, thank you so much for sharing Jason!
Awesome Mike, hope you enjoy the turns dudes!! Let’s also get up on the channel next week (I’ll email you)
@@jasonstallworth congratulations buddy, amazing job really, I'm enjoying every minute of it, killer performance.
I'm looking forward for the meeting also! 😊🙏
Looks like those folks got a great show! I got you book for Christmas (it was on my amazon wish list) and I read the first half today... will finish it tomorrow. Enjoying the read so far! I wish my guitar journey would have started like yours... I am the opposite of you, sports come natural and easy for me - but guitar/music? It takes me weeks to master what others can get in 30 minutes! Probably does not help that I started guitar at age 52... Oh well... it's still fun! And your lessons have given me tons of fun stuff to work on. Thanks for writing the book and giving us great lessons.
Dude, thank you so much for getting my book and glad you're enjoying that! Yeah, there are things we all catch on to easier than others but we've just gotta keep pushing!
Some nice song choices there, the Don Henley, Cutting crew, good stuff, still sound good today, good job.
Thanks dude, I love those tunes and that era!! I really try to play songs that you don't hear played out often, or ever!
Totally agree ,talking to the audience ,sharing stories, about certain songs ,or about yourself does help involve the audience ,and help them feel a part of the performance.
They love it! I don't overdo it but just a little here and there, and of course, asking if it's anyone's b-day, wedding anniversary, or divorce party! lol (they love that, too!)
I love that you sing in your own voice.
Thank you, I appreciate that. And I encourage folks to embrace their own style and sound
What a Voice 💕
🙏🏻🤘
Toto. Badass. Happy New Year bud, thanks for sharing!
🙏 🙏 🙏
Great job Jason . I wish I would have gone to that show. I was in St. Pete with family. Back in Boston now. But your on my bucket list. 💪💪🤘
Awesome man!! Check my FB…If you happen to be back down, I’ve got 6 gigs in January and will actually be here at The Forge again on Jan 7th and 21st! This is such a cool place to hang out!
Your acoustic work is really awesome!
Thank you! I'll be putting more of this out there as I'm gigging pretty much every weekend these days!
really like the song selections, my kind of music. Just getting started myself, watching your videos are really helping with ideas. I am in my mid 50's so a little late getting the nerve to try this but loving every minute of it so far.
Dude, I encourage you to get out there! Get a few songs down and start at open mics. When I started this, almost 2 years ago, I had been off the stage for many years so I started back playing free at a friend's shop, and moved on from there. So start small, that will help you build up your confidence and you'll be out there in no time!
This is pure awesomeness.
Thank you, I appreciate that!
fabulous playthrough loved it all. Flawless mate well done. if I may say for future reference can you add the skip times for each song. Thanks.
Thank you, I also have a more recent live show I posted here (with timestamps): ua-cam.com/video/NdicFj9Xibw/v-deo.html
I like the variety there. As someone who is interested in doing this locally I think I'd struggle to come up with a diverse list. I can see me picking all my favorite hair metal and heavy metal bands songs LOL.
Oh man, it’s so easy to just wanna do the hair metal songs as many are pretty easy to transfer to acoustic! Here are a few hair band songs I do love:
Don’t Treat Me Bad - Firehouse
Love of a Lifetime - Firehouse
When I See You Smile - Bad English
I Won’t Forget You - Poison (Every Rose Has It’s Thorn is overplayed so I do this one instead)
Nothing But a Good Time - Poison
…I’ve got several more
I’ll be putting more content out for live gig tips for gear, playing, and singing!
Guitar work is AMAZING. Great job my brother.
Thank you for checking this out!
Good stuff sir! I haven't heard Seminole Wind in... forever, and as much as I love Lady Pat and Mr. Spider Love is a Battlefield makes me want to throw up lol. Grats on doing a cool different take on it that actually works.
Yeah, Seminole Wind is an old one!!!
Jason keep plugging, never stop...
You are cool dude..
I see a side of you now, I never knew,...
Awesome Jason...
Thank you and I was hoping this didn’t throw folks off too much, being used to metal and all!
Amazing singing and playing!
Thank you, appreciate that 🙏🏻
Awesome!
🙏 🤘
Great set Jason, really enjoyed it. Good to see another solo acoustic musician on here brave enough to upload their live gigs! You rock Sir!🤘🏻
Thank you!!! Definitely more to come, and I also just put up a new video yesterday with live solo gig tips (and that has more clips of my live performance) if you wanna check that out: ua-cam.com/video/V6GQXeVmTUs/v-deo.html
Glad you are playing out. So fun! Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year Jason. 🤘
Man, I absolutely love it! More to come!
Most Excellent man , enjoyed :)
Thank you 🙏
Really good !
🤘
The footswitch jack on your mackie board is for switching off/on the FX
Yep, and I finally bought one which has come in extremely handy! Feature that on one of my more recent setup videos: ua-cam.com/video/8ljF5v5Pcp8/v-deo.html
@@jasonstallworth thanks I'll
Check out the video. Rock on
Dude! This rocks, bro. I love these songs and the acoustic guitar playing 🎸
Thank you brother!
Can't tell you're a metal head! Down-picking Bryan Adams! Dude, I've watched a lot of your videos and your singing voice had me doing a double take. Your vocals are awesome! I have a rather deep voice and there's no way I could sing these songs. I would guess you've put some serious work into it. Nostalgic mix of songs. Very nice!
Lol...yeah man, I play 2-3 solo acoustic gigs a week doing 80s covers. But you'll always hear a little metal influence! And I appreciate the kind words
Awesome great music song concert
🙏 🤘
Wow, Keep it Acoustic for sure 🤘🤘 That was awesome Jason. I could easily sit there enjoying a beer or 3 listening to that mate (bit far from Australia though). I listened to it over breakfast this morning, but had to come back tonight to listen with proper headphones and glad I did 👍
I was thinking of selling my acoustic as I never play it, but I might have to get it out for a jam.
Thank you dude...yeah, do NOT sell your acoustic!!!
Great job guys
🙏 🙏 🙏
Just found this channel and really enjoying your videos on gigging as a solo act. Many thanks for sharing! I've been doing solo acoustic gigs for the last 10 years or so and what you are saying really resonates. I love seeing acts that make covers feel like their own and where the artists actively engage with the audience. Well done on a great gig, thanks again and best wishes for the new year!
Jim, thank you for watching and for the comment. It's cool to meet another gigging musician out there doing it!
Coolest dude on UA-cam. You sound just like young Bryan Adams!
I appreciate that 🙏🏻
Good job getting out and playing
🙏 🤘
Great job, man! 🔥
🙏 🤘
Hi Jason, I have a question: I have attended a lot of pub/bar gigs and I find the same issue. No matter the mic or the PA, it always sounds like someone stuck a blanket over the mic. I know it's not the recording, here because it happens everywhere. During the break, the regular juke-box kicks-in and the vocals are perfectly clear. What gives? This is putting me off starting my own solo gigs because my strongest point is singing but I don't wanna sound like this. Thanks buddy.
I had a buddy who gigs and has a really good ear for sound, and he just went out and listened and gave my vocals more highs and mids, and left the bass up the middle. That did the trick. My compression is about 1/4 of the way up on my board and I use some reverb...but just that little EQ tweak made a huge difference in clarity.
I love this video so much, that I'm back listening again. This is exactly what I am going for, right now. I have about 35 covers on here, and have honest talent. I just have NO IDEA how to get views. Makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong. So here I am, studying. 🙏
Thank you for coming back. Cover songs are a different territory on UA-cam, and I only put out videos with my live acoustic covers here and there. Mainly because you get flagged by the label and they will take the Google ad revenue.
So it really depends on your goal with your channel. If it's just to showcase your cover songs so that you can use that to send to venues and booking agents, that's fine.
But if your goal is to really grow a community on your channel and generate revenue, covers aren't the best route to go. I would recommend focusing on providing tips or some sort of related content that will help folks. And then you can throw some cover videos out there now and then.
Hopefully that all makes sense
@@jasonstallworth Yes! Absolutely! I really appreciate your feedback, man! I found all of that info really helpful!
I'm kind of learning as I go along. I'm not necessarily trying to make money, or anything. I'm moreso just trying to express my intrinsic will to play music. Its just incredibly important to me.
I play every style music, so that I can explore different areas and depths of the music sea. 🎵 🎶
Thank you, again! I really appreciate You. 🙏
Liked and subbed
Very nice...keep rocking my friend
🙏🏻🤘
Great job man! Enjoyed 🤘🍻
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We wanna hear that metal growl followed by that metal scream Mr Jason!
🤘🤘🤘
Oh wow! We have the same repertoire.
🤘
Any chance you can get me gigs in Florida? I been soloist for while but no connections, no one will even let me audition
I have a complete tutorial on how to get started that may help; ua-cam.com/video/dy0Ru6RHH9c/v-deo.htmlsi=LkD3M7ZmqKVp4Efn
Hell yeah!
🤘 🙏
Enjoy that Jason 👍 I am so much interested in your advice and experience in giging🎸🎶
Thank you, I'm glad to hear my videos help!
Jason, that was awesome brother. Are you in Florida ? We would like to know your gig dates and locations, we are over here in Melbourne, FL.

To be honest, not the singing voice I expected-but damn, you can sing, my friend. Cheers!
lol, thank you…yeah the talking voice definitely doesn’t match the singing voice!
Wow man I am surprised!!! You and me have the exact same vocal range. All those sing and play the same chords...
🤘 Man, I think it’s so important to sing in your (our) comfortable range. Especially for live solo shows when we’re playing for 3-4 hours
@@jasonstallworth Oooooh yes, i couldn't agree more!
You are good at everything 🔥
Thank you...lot of room to grow!
Right on kid !!!
🤘
Jason, what kind of camera do you use? Just curious because it’s very good quality. I have a Zoom 4K and it seems to loose quality when I upload to UA-cam.
I'm using 2 iPhones...an 11 and a 12. The camera on my iPhone 11 had seemingly water damage so I had to upgrade I use my iPhone for business/videos and all. A few weeks later the camera dried out and started working fine, so I just kept as for that purpose, as 2nd camera. I had considered getting an actual camera but it just never made sense to since the phones seem to do the trick.
Very nice Jason. Now do Angel Of Death acoustic. Naah it's all good. Cheers man.
Thank you...I actually do Wasted Years on acoustic, and a few other metal tunes! I'll capture that at the next gig, hopefully!
Good voice man!
Thank you, brother 🙏
Nice Singing!
🙏
Your wife is a very good singer. I would really like to see your wife you and gunner do a performance I think that would be really hot. Thanks for keeping it real and I'm glad to see God is blessing you.😀👍
Hmmm…now that’s an idea!!
shit hot !!!!!!
🤘
🔥🔥🤘🏾
Thank you for watching this! 🙏 🤘
Boy youre also a singer. Nice...
🙏 🤘
Have to be 100% honest. Solo gigs with electric guitars is the cringiest crap there is. Love your acoustic sets.
Thank you. My audiences actually loves when I break out the electric. The key is I don’t do it a lot, maybe once or twice during the gigs. And I don’t do it for an extended time. It helps break things up and gives the something different
