I wish English was taught like this in school. After all this time, I still get confused and not know where to use them correctly. Also the classes weren't this engaging. So thanks Aly. I'm grateful. PS: Don't tell this to my school teacher
@@supriya1323 Do you know any Tukish or do you want to starr? And what is your English level ?And also if I have friend from India I wil be happy too :)
An absolutely genius way of clarifying the 'the/a/an' issues! The use of specific/Non-specific in place of definite/indefinite was an eye-opener for me. Papa Teach Me is THE way.
what can I say...you DO have a very special gift! The gift of teaching English! Love your videos- they're super informative and super entertaining. Thanks for sharing!
The most complicated thing for me has always been when NOT to use articles. And still it is. For example "I know, I can change reality". Native speakers told me that you don't need an article here, but I have a strict feeling, the reality is the only one, like the Universe. Cases like this are not very clear still.
Thanks Aly. The lesson I need, the lesson about articles and in relaxed and smooth approach. In general, when I approach to a native speaker I have those little ' particles ' on my mind , 'cause they are little but very important for the meaning of the word , especially when you need to drop them. Exp. a hair (just ! 1)/ black hair or my 'gut ' english (intuition): She has a curly hair. The next example is on the slippery slope, [ I red in the english (specific !) grammar ],... so it was made by tourist guide, after performance of the folklore dancers : " Would you give them a clap? When english tourists heard that they burst into laugh. She didn't know that she asked them to give them STD, instead : " Give them clap ! ". All the best Kerim
Thank you very much, Aly! This is one of the most difficult questions for the languages which don't have any articles. Your lesson is really helpful! And I like your new definition - specific and non-specific articles. It matches better.
Aly you are thee quintesential english teacher on UA-cam and why is that you always speak very good spanish. I mean Mr. Bartlet, you, Lucy, cheers Mate !!
I enjoy with your videos you make the grammar pleasant and this is not easy when you use this format in your videos it seems more useful than when you share the video with other even when the other is so good than you, I refer to yesterday's video, in this case, two good communicators didn't add.
Let me just say that you’re the most fun teacher on UA-cam. Love watching your lessons. I was hoping you would do one about past simple and past perfect. Would love to see how you would explain them. My students have a hard time using them when telling a story. Well, all narrative tenses, actually. Thanks for giving me inspiration. 🥳
Frankly, I can't express my feeling you are funy , smart and amazing person I think you are the best teacher in the world im from Iraq and i understood the lesson very good although you are talking in English im really greatfull May ALLAh protect you and lead you for more succsess .
English articles are rather tricky, but this is thee lesson to clarify our doubts 👍 By the way, let's be grateful there are fewer articles than in Italian: un, uno, una, un', il , lo, la, l', i, gli, le!
Blow mind! As you said, now everything makes sense! I always had doubts about the pronunciation of "A" "An" and "The". Thank you, this video really helped me! Btw, I'm colombian, and... tu acento colombiano es paisa Lol
This is one of the most important and challenging topics in English . Although you explained many situations for the correct usage of articles, I feel like there are still a lot more things we are not aware as English learners . Please elaborate on this topic in your further videos .. thanks
Having a real spontaneous conversation, that's quite difficult to realize which article should be used. How to choose them naturally, not memorizing all those cases of using them?
When you're talking to someone and not sure which article you should use just think about whether your collocutor knows about the thing you want to speak. If he doesn't know about it yet since you haven't introduced it then use A or AN. It's not a completely correct rule but in most cases, it works fine. Anyway practice makes perfect
This is a great question!!! When learning a language, remember that the rules are just references. Come back to them when u have questions, or have time to practice in your own time. The more practice u have, the more natural you'll sound in conversation. Hope that helps 🤘🤓❤️
Роман Раут Ok, thanks It’s fairly hard for me either to realize the difference between ‘a’ and zero articles when I try to speak about something in general way.
The best explanation I've heard was that 'a/an' is actually 'one'. And that 'the' is often used for unspecified things to emphasize it is actually specific thing despite the fact it wasn't mentioned before.
How about months and seasons? Should I use "the" article for June of the current year, for example? I also see "the" winter sometimes. Is that correct?
Hello.. It was such an amazing episode.. I have a question for you , which is correct " I have a new offices in UK OR I have new offices in UK" ? Please advise.
aly thanks ever so much for the lesson! may i ask you to make a video about old-fashion-british-expressions? much obliged. and yes i'm obsessed with mr darcy
Hi Ali, about "the" used with UK etc, I prefer to explain it by the consideration that united kingdom, united states, nether lands etc are actually not proper nouns : kingdom, states, land etc.
Perfect lesson at the perfect time! I teach English to kids and this week's lesson is about articles! You gave me amazing insights! Thank God English doesn't have the amount of articles Italian has, it would be dreadful to explain it to children! Also, I loved your jokes about Italians ahahah Love from Italy
I wish English was taught like this in school. After all this time, I still get confused and not know where to use them correctly. Also the classes weren't this engaging.
So thanks Aly. I'm grateful.
PS: Don't tell this to my school teacher
I chose to watch the entire video, not because I already know about articles, but I enjoy your content. Keep it up Papa!
Today my teacher said me" you have to study articles" and now i am watching this video thank you very very much

I’d had the doubt about “thee” and “ei” pronunciations long ago, thanks for clarifying it.
And that, kids, is how you make Italians freak out instantly 😆
Love from Italy, you're THE best teacher.
Thanks, Aly. If you don’t mind, I want to add some article-life-hack: “a” comes from the word “any”, “the” derives from “this”. It helps me a lot!
I thought a comes from one
This episode is what I need to learn. Thank you sir. Following from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
