Had my Yaris Cross just over one year and 11,000 miles I can confirm everything you have covered in your excellent U-Tube review of the Yaris Cross. If anyone is considering buying this B segment SUV I would totally recommend this fantastic Toyota Yaris Cross. Thank you for the great review, well done🤗
We got our brand new one just over a week ago after waiting 4 months but absolutely worth the wait. Having flirted with Vauxhall I am now firmly back in the arms of my Toyota Yaris (my first love and new car) who has grown into a Yaris Cross and I am there for keeps! Well done Toyota! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
First timer to your channel. Great quick review. I fully agree with you on flat floors. I'm in mk7 golf and love the deep floor to stop things rolling out. Thinking of changing to Toyota as wife's rav4 has amazing fuel economy for size of vehicle though I do prefer seats on vw. In Ireland with our double tax on new cars it's near 30k euro plus for yaris cross entry model. As someone looking up reviews for cars things I look for are seat comfort adjustment, infotainment sound quality, mpg figures, boot space, road noise in cabin. Toyota have better customer support than most. I persuaded my Aunt out of diesel saloon to the yaris cross and she loves it.
Good review ….I used to be a bit of a speed freak but since moving from Turbo Diesel’s to a mk 4 Prius and now a Yaris Cross for company car tax savings these Toyota hybrids are just so good at practical motoring. Super easy and chilled out to drive and great reliability and running costs. A lot of typical car reviewers just don’t seem to get it but with potholes, traffic and speed cameras everywhere they make a lot of sense.
Another great review, thanks Jim. Those brilliant economy numbers make it even harder to choose an EV, especially as no sign of the government upping its game on the charging infrastructure!
Hello mate great review, pleased my misses no end ,because we just picked our scorched orange gr sport on Tuesday, and we are loving it. The only disappointment is the GR range doesn't come with a power tailgate, which we were used to on our ford kuga we just sold, although I offered to pay extra, apart from that it's great car, thanks again Paul and Di.
Quality vid Jim 🤙🏻 I’ve got a 4 year lease & 1 year in, I drive the dynamic with safety pack, JBL & pan roof. It comes with auto park, black 18’s & silver paint with black roof & it looks nice. The most I’ve got & shoes on the app, was a mega 124mpg & it’s always around 70+ mpg on a daily run to work, which is 12 miles there & back. It is a little skippy over ruff roads & the door cards are like stone with a lick of cloth. I’ve had performance cars over the years, so even in power mode, it doesn’t set you alight, but it’s an overall good drive & a nice higher seating position is nice. It’s defo worth a test drive & I pay £336 pm, that’s now very cheap for what I’ve seen (hope it’s ok to put that price?) Keep up the good reviews 😁🤙🏻
Yeah it’s a great car Marc, it went back a couple of days ago and I actually miss it. The MPG is the big headline but, as you say, it’s nice to drive and very easy to live with. Great choice 👍
Like to say great review, both you and many of the comments reflect the comments that I would use. I have now had my Yaris Cross for over a year, I do have all wheel drive, but here in Australia especially where I live reliability is paramount, have driven up around the snowiest on unsealed roads and found it shore footed and exciting to drive with a bit of slide when driving a little faster than I should, as for the rough road it is a bit more comfortable than a lot of others I have driven on the same roads, as for highway driving have done trips of over 300 Klm in one run of Highway stick it in cruise control and it just purrs along with ease , have just got back from a 900 klm run no stiff joints or sore back from sitting for 5 to 6 hours at the wheel, just looking forward to go again.
I have a Yaris cross on order, I drive a ford puma atm, great car but plagued with annoying problems, mines only three years old and it’s had a new engine from ford, I’m switching to Toyota for , hopefully, the legendary build quality and reliability, nice to see an honest review of the car that’s not too focused on 0-60 times
Great review - thanks. I’ve got one on order - I’m really excited to get it but it’s now taken over 12 months to arrive though! Annoying as my current C-HR came in less than a month! 😞
I've done a roadtrip across Greece with one, 4000km in total, 55mpg average. Most of the journey was highway, where it does about 50mpg at 65-70mph and around countryside I also got 70mpg easily
Great review, thank you. We're buying a 2nd hand car dealership Yaris Cross next week. I look forward to the frugal fuel usage! Thanks again for such a well-balanced and helpful review 😀
You should tell all the other youtube car reviewers about the boot lip! One of them made a comment then everyone of them just lazily repeat the same comment every time! My car has no boot lip and some of my shopping rolled out of the boot just yesterday. Even my wife was saying how wrong are the car reviewers! Thank you!
If I was in the market for a small SUV I would probably have this. The Toyota hybrid systems are excellent especially in urban driving when they run silently. They are well proven too and stand up to big mileages. BTW mate the VW T-Cross would be a rival rather than the T-Roc which is a bigger Golf based SUV.
And what is it like on the motorway? It's very very noisy and all generated by tyre noise. I have a 22 yaris cross and this is the first car where road noise has been an issue for me.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru why didn't they add solar roof to yaris cross full hybrid? would have lowered the consumption in city from 3 to 1%. Too bad they added it to new prius, a car with 2.0 engine.... hmm great economy. In my oppinion a hybrid should have only 1.5 engine because a hybrid means fuel economy, who doesnt want fuel economy should buy turbo diesel.
I went in the car and fell in love :D I like it even if it is a bit hard on the road. It is smooth in the reel and you dont have to go in the car as low. Wich is good when you get older :) Mine is comming in the middle in november :) I had a toyota yaris 2011 before.
Would you know what provides the heat on frosty morning’s..? Is it electric heat or will that engine need to idol for yonks to clear screen and fingertips..? 😊
Good review but your mention of price, the t roc does not come as an hybrid does it and the start price for a basic automatic is actually over 30k so 5k more with no hybrid and no auto and 45 mph ?, also the leg room is fine, put my 6’3 son in the back and he stated loads of room
My mums holden astra 1.4 turbo does 84mpg hhighway cycle 🤷 We hwve a 4 year old yaris at work. Everyone hates it. I love it. Its slow but eager. Rides good seats are comfy. I drive a kia cerato GT. I like it. But meh
I may be wrong , but lve just ordered Toyota Yaris cross Design model and lm paying 24 thousand,I think the basic model start s at around 22 thousand,I might have ordered on my lucky day,!!!!?????
Sounds a lot more positive for mpg figures than some reviewers… Will this run on that watery Petrol or does it need the superunleaded..? Thing that put me off CVT is the revving out on acceleration is this ECVT better in that respect…? 🤔
It's totally different to what everyone knows as a CVT. There are no cones or belts, or the problems associated with them, just two MG's (Motor Generators) joined with an ingenious set of gears, and accurately controlled by computer. It shouldn't even be referred to as a CVT in my opinion. 👍
It is sad that all car reviews say "It's got Android Auto" for many cars these days as if it was a plus point, glossing over the fact that it does not have satnav in its own right. What is android auto like to use and does the car radio still play whilst the phone satnav is working?
They say that because car play and AA are far better than any manufacturer sat nav. If reviewers say it, then there’s good reason. And yes, you can still have audio from elsewhere.
I saw one of these in the flesh the other day and while Toyota has never been known for aesthetically pleasing designs, I thought this thing was particularly hideous.
Each to their own I guess, as it was exactly thr opposite to me. When I saw one I was immediately interested and ended up buying one partially cos I loved the looks
Far too expensive, too tinny, gutless with its gearbox and dealers milking it when it comes to delivery and part ex prices. I looked at one of these and was quoted about 9 months for delivery. Ended up buying an 8 month old BMW X1 diesel with X drive and a lot more solid. Durable meaning its full of scratchy plastic. Plenty of them around my area with driving schools.
Did you actually drive one. I had a regular Yaris as a courtesy car (same drivetrain as the Cross) and it definitely wasn't gutless (and I've owned and driven a lot of different cars). In fact it was pretty brisk especially away from the lights. In any case your comparison is not like for like. The Yaris Cross is a small (supermini) based SUV starting at £24k. The X1 starts at £34k. For £10k more I would hope the X1 does offer more performance and some soft touch materials on the dash!!
Wait until you've done a few short journeys and then the Yaris Cross won't start as the 12volt battery has lost charge! When the dealers are contacted they tell you you should do a minimum of 8,000 miles a year then try to sell you a trickle charger or a solar charger. This is an acknowledged fault but Toyota seem not to want to confront it. Spoils a nice vehicle.
I'm intrigued by the number of of 12v battery problems that I've read about, our Yaris Cross is driven most days but does less than 10,000km/year. On two occasions this year it has been garaged for 4 weeks and then 6weeks while on holidays, started no problems. The 12v battery has no cranking duties as in a conventional car, so should have an easy life. It is small so using accessories while the hybrid system is off could quickly deplete its charge.
The T-cross is more expensive on finance and when you try matching spec. VW are very stingy. The Ford Puma is also more expensive on finance with much bigger deposit requirements.
It's a funny thing that you say everything in metric except for six foot passengers. I'm only 5'6' and that back seat looks like agony. Not really even suitable for children unless you want a back massage from their feet.

It’s getting tougher for the ‘old school’ top brands. I hope Toyota keeps it’s faithful following… they are bloody good cars.
