Great reviews Steve. Thorough and accurate. I have a June 2024 YC Design and absolutely love it. I drive it once a week from Milton Keynes to London (a 100 mile round trip) and in Normal mode I've achieved 85 mpg even in traffic and never less than 75 mpg which is amazing given that on the same trip my old Mazda 3 TS2 returned about 35 mpg. Incredible economy. The one thing reviewers tend to overlook is the quality of the trim, which I found to be a little disappointing in places. Also the issue of the 12V battery going flat after only a few days, preventing the vehicle from being started is an issue covered extensively on the various YC user groups on Facebook. Apparently in the 2024 'post facelift' Yaris Cross, Toyota have changed the battery but only time will tell if that has resolved the problem. I think most people carry a Li-Ion Jump Starter Pack to cover the eventuality, but it has undoubtedly been a well documented and widespread issue with the car. That said, I believe it is an issue for most makes of self-charging hybrids. I love the car and it's safety features which have put the fun back into driving. It's like having a co-pilot with you to share the burden.
The 360 surround view cameras on the Excel plus it's electric adjustable lumber support and heated steering wheel etc is worth the extra if you can afford it
there might be aftermarket thing u can plug in under the button for the auto hold so it turns it on every time u start ....whenever there is something annoying like that there is usually a workaround
Great Steve welcome to to electric mobility, hybrid it's no self charging, al energy start with gasoline pollution engine (very primitive by the way. You will enjoy and maybe it's the best solution for you use. In the last 7 years I had two Yaris very happy with improvement between first and second, which is like yours, but in the last 6 years also had two Renault Zoe electric. Once you have an electric car you new want to go to a "smoking machine" gasoline engine even if improved thru the years it's a dead technology. Enjoy the Toyota but after some time you will find that's no use to carry the weight of gas engine. But at the end you use and personal budget will determine your mobility or combination. your city is very Bicycle friendly remember. Dedicate some of your Podcast or here in UA-cam to mobility Regards Carlos
Oh, it's fine. It's just not optimised for 200 mile cruises at 70mph. For regular long journeys I'd suggest a RAV4 or Prius in the Toyota world. Or a Lexus, with better noise-proofing.

Does the engine work simultaneously? the gas and electric
Yes, when needed, accelerating hard.
Why don't you think it's good for long distance driving?
