Enjoy this excerpt from THE ULTIMATE TACHI WAZA COURSE from JudoFanatics.com.
Judo Fanatics was started by a pair of black belts (Bernardo Faria & Michael Zenga) who feel that nothing is more important than improving your Judo skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for Judo Students who don’t look at Judo as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

I've only been to five or so classes but I must have tried this twenty bloody times during randori with experience judoka and every-single-time I've landed on my back. This is so helpful. Foot parallel with uki's, hip doesn't go past uki's, toes pointing away and sweep with a powerful straight leg. Maybe next time I'll surprise them.
🔥
This is great. I learned from a book as a teen this may favorite move from Judo. I made the mistake always bring the hip past opponents hip. Only works if opponent doesn't pay attention or adjusts and leverages back - ie, power against power. This is great technique he is showing thank you guys.
This was great instruction. I feel like I can throw someone now... I love how you explain why you do something, that is such a great quality in a teacher.
🤗👍🏻
Don't throw a random person. It's dangerous

Great video
🔥
Very nice Osoto
🤗
Beautiful throw with lots of little details. Im going to play with turning that foot to shorten the leg distance.
First throw I ever learnt, and one of the most important ones to know.
I think the best instruction / break down of this throw yet. I think the advanced Judoka (nidan+) will develop personal variations to these throw components, to match their body type and fighting style, but the elements of breaking uke's balance and sweeping without planting sweep foot are critical. Where are all the USA Judoka in major matches lately? Not seeing any... Why?
Please show the complete move in the beginning so that we know how the puzzle 🧩 pieces fit together.
OUT of order come to Argentina and I will show Osoto gari .Wher are you I will visit you
Do you have a video of this for no gi? This exact variation and not the cross Osoto? Maybe on your website
[Hello, I was researching counterattacks and came across a technique called ashi-makkomi, and kaeshi-waza applied against soto-gari. But it was a drawing and I couldn't decipher it. Is there any way to demonstrate it: if you know it?]
If you are a good athlete and strong you can step slightly past the foot of uke as long as you dont lean backand make the uke lean back
Never a good idea for 90% of judoka. Advance that far and you're risking being countered.
@@robthornton72 not if you get them bending back wards
Ive done this to a guy who was twice my size while drunk and xan'd out lol i never took judo before ive just always done this trip by instinct. I love it and would love to master it formally
@@lopesben81 right on
