Holy god, when he demonstrates his entrance practice at 4:30 , I looked away for a second a legit got scared from just the sound. It sounded like a grown-man was being totally manhandled and when I looked up, that's exactly what I saw. Thank you for everything that you do.
Love this, thanks. We drill this every now and then in our BJJ class, but with terrible technique and details. Love all the full speed demos and w slow mo from different angles at the end, and I wish all your newer vids would do this too, as without it, the move doesn't quite make 100% sense. So I really hope you add this back into all your vids. Also the initial full speed demo at the start puts all the details into perspective.
just maintain your space between uke. im small, often lower my center of gravity slightly before bringing it back up to help better pull uke off-balance (for forward throws, not so much for backward throws like osoto)
There's a lot of work and physical effort here for a waza that can be much simpler. I find the stuff about throwing a baseball misleading: you don't need to rotate your opponent around like this. Just the kuzushi and applying the shoulder against the opponent's and pushing back is enough to create the situation for the reap.
Never seen any successfully use osoto gari in randori by doing the uchi komi way. They always throw out the reaping leg, and jump into position. Everytime I try the uchi komi way always get countered with same move.
This haircut almost matches your brew haircut sensei...oh yeah I read an article recently written by someone about you but it was in a bjj newsletter...they called you a 6th degree black belt in judo..I thought it was only 5 degrees of black and after that you're in red and white.
I had my right leg swept out and it tore the knee cartilage (meniscus) but on my left knee and I couldn't train for 4 months. How come it hurt the opposite leg?
Very nice detail, guys I would like to see sode tsurikomi goshi for bjj stance if you guys don't mind , and hopefully I will drop by your school on Manhattan I got the address I'm just working on my schedule.
Cue: Look at watch!
Time reads: Osoto-o'clock....
*Crickets Chirping*
i barely recognized you in this video compared to 2019 lol
Wow - some many specific and general insights into the mechanics of judo throws just from this one video.
Amazing detail! I love the way you broke down the task of each arm and leg. I look forward to seeing more of your video tutorials! Thank you.
Wes Burmark taking requests. Thanks for watching.
I thought I was on a different channel
Same here

'Checking the watch' Is weirdly helpful for me. Thank you Mr Higashi !
p.s Breath-taking power and speed @ 4:30
5:55 when you did the throw... no watch was checked and no phones were answered.
having such a hard time with the initial offbalancing (looking at the watch part) and it is a crucuial element in many judo throws.

good ukemi! when i got osoto geried in an angle, my legs are crossed after falling.
Whoa, check the watch is pretti good, I was taught to pull outwards and down, like going behind uke´s butt.
That works too. Sooo many different ways to do it.
From Brasil: muito bom.
Nice tutorial
