Having worked my entire career in the forest industry I am amazed how different our days are. Up by 0500, in the woods by 0700, very quick lunch at 1200, back to work 1230 and wrap up about 1700.
10:00 - Arrives at work, 11:00 - Goes to have lunch, 13:30 - Goes to eat, 15:00 - Returns from eating, 17:30 - Leaves for home. Actual working time 5 and a half hours. No wonder they’re firing everyone…
Ah yea, it's a leisurely job, just walking around and eating all day. The number of people in the company can be counted on one hand, it looks like a ghost workplace.
Imagine in those 5:30 hours there was like 2 hours of meetings, which is mostly status update and in other 2 hours remaining replying to emails/chats. I think the actual coding is like for half an hour or less. Also the office can like house thousands of employees and is virtually empty. Imagine the electricity, food and other resources getting wasted for a handful of people.
Thing is we can live without that "Actual work" Meta isn't necessary as a company. If FB was gone today, people would actually have to communicate with people in their circle. It be for the best.
I retired as a doctor and started investing in the stock market because of dividends. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and earn more money in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can pass that on to your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested over $600k in dividend stocks over the years; I continue to buy more today and will continue to do so until the price lowers even further.
It's always inspiring to hear from a veteran doctor and investor who has weathered the storm and come out on top. When your portfolio turns from green to red, it might be unsettling, but if you have invested in great companies, you should just keep adding to them and stick with your plan.
I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I appreciate giving an investment coach the power of decision-making. Given their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risk for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it is practically impossible for them to underperform. I have made over 1.5 million dollars working with an investment coach for more than two years
How can one get in touch with these coach? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances

Hey I wanna become a software engineer, quick question. Is it common for a software engineer to do coding like JavaScript and stuff or is that mostly just developer stuff
It's amazing that you know what you want to do, that brings you one step closer to your goal. Software Engineers mostly do developer stuff using languages like javascript, python etc. The exact work greatly depends on the type of team you are on (example backend, front end, infra, product etc) 🙂
