      Imagine in those 5:30 hours there was like 2 hours of meetings, which is mostly status update and in other 2 hours remaining replying to emails/chats. I think the actual coding is like for half an hour or less. Also the office can like house thousands of employees and is virtually empty. Imagine the electricity, food and other resources getting wasted for a handful of people.

      I retired as a doctor and started investing in the stock market because of dividends. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and earn more money in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can pass that on to your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested over $600k in dividend stocks over the years; I continue to buy more today and will continue to do so until the price lowers even further.

      It's always inspiring to hear from a veteran doctor and investor who has weathered the storm and come out on top. When your portfolio turns from green to red, it might be unsettling, but if you have invested in great companies, you should just keep adding to them and stick with your plan.

      I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I appreciate giving an investment coach the power of decision-making. Given their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risk for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it is practically impossible for them to underperform. I have made over 1.5 million dollars working with an investment coach for more than two years

    I did some work at a facebook data center for a little bit. Free breakfast and lunch made and scooped to you by hand everyday by the chefs. Different meals every day as well, included a dessert too. Freshly squeezed orange juice every morning, snack stations at any time; coffee, energy drinks, soda, lunchables, chips, granola bars, you name it. They also had game rooms with consoles, arcades, etc.

      they hired more due to Covid and everything working online only, now they all fired those who they don’t need anymore. Big companies are doing more than fine even while having huge offices. For instance, google has several big offices with different food and entertainment not just in the US, but all over the Europe as well. Doesn’t look like anything has happened to them, all offices stay the same, even though jealous sad people keep expecting it to disappear. Huge tech companies been this way for an extremely long time by now, so it is quite sustainable. It also helps them attracting best students because they remain this prestigious comfy style. More talented people dream of you hiring them = more good products are made = more profit to keep having these offices.

      That is what they do lol. They don’t for the majority of the time code all day long. Confirmed with my coder friend. Lots of down time, lots of “meetings,” free food etc etc. it’s basically a daycare, work for a couple hours and fuck off the rest of the time, why do you think zuckerburg let go of all those people, same thing for twitter, you don’t need thousands upon thousands of people to keep facebook up or twitter etc. just a waste of money

      @@isolatedanonymous1979 that's stupid. when the pandemic started tech stocks skyrocketed because everything went remote and the government printed trillions of dollars to pay people to sit on their ass at home and do nothing. We are going the reverse of that and the few banks that collapsed are just a taste of what is to come. Even worse because this is more than a decade in the making because of years of irresponsible fiscal policy. The only reason there hasn't been a total collapse yet is because the government keeps applying these band aid solutions that all amount to just kicking the can down the road. At some point all this will inevitably have to end and it's not going to be good, especially for people who are expendable like these diversity hires

    • @Apurvavrupa
      @Apurvavrupa  Рік тому +10

      It's amazing that you know what you want to do, that brings you one step closer to your goal. Software Engineers mostly do developer stuff using languages like javascript, python etc. The exact work greatly depends on the type of team you are on (example backend, front end, infra, product etc) 🙂
