- Its a foodie Day in Detroit! We started with the two best and well known Coney Island chili dogs, Lafayette and American. What’s crazy is that these guys are right next to each other. Talk about competition!
Since this was our first time in Detroit, we walked around downtown and checked out the modern artwork and sculptures. We even saw Canada right across from the Detroit River!
We came across a food truck, 44 Burrito, that bakes homemade cheesecakes? Count us in!
Before heading to our last foodie stop, we stopped at Fort Street Galley, a small food hall, and had a local beer to share.
Pizza time. More specifically, Detroit square pizza time! Only one place keeps coming up when searching for the best square pies... Buddy’s Pizza. Let us tell you, Buddy’s did not disappoint!
After checking out some cool vintage Model T’s, it was time to say goodbye to Detroit. Cool city, nice people, and great food! Thank you, Detroit!

This was our first visit to Downtown Detroit, so glad we finally got the chance to explore and eat there!

Yum on the pizza and dogs! Check out Buffalo NY sometime! Anchor Bar for the OG Buffalo Wings! And the Charlie the Butcher for their Beef on Weck! Delish! Happy travels!

The original Buddy's is on 6th & Conant in Detroit, not Dearborn, but the food is the same across all metro-Detroit locations. I used to work at the Auburn Hills restaurant. Next time try the Antipasto salad!

I was born in Dearborn and grew up down from Detroit metropolitan airport in Wayne. My mother always told me they named the city after me. Great Vlog.

Thanks Marta! Mexico City was actually supposed to happen this past week, but ended up going to St Louis/Detroit instead for a couple reasons, 50% thunderstorms on that Tues, and $200 airport exit tax for the both of us! eek. Thinking we'll need to have at least 2 full days to make the tax cost worth it. That said, Mexico City is still on our list!
Damn, those chili dogs look good. Now, I want a chili dog! lol

Love the channel and your personalites so much! ! If you got the "old town pepperoni" (on the menu) you would have had the "ronicup" experience with Buddy"s. I bet if you tried the "Detroiter" on the menu with the cups, Prince's would not have won your vote! I've never tried Prince's, but I thank you so much for introducing me to them because I live in LA and I will give them a try to see who I think is the best. I worked at Buddy's and learned "Nonna's" recepie as teenager. Brick cheese is hard to get in LA, so I actually get Buddy's shiped from the Dearbon location, time to time. Please never sell out, and keep up the great work! :)

I always make sure to eat at the Coney Island hot dog place at the Detroit Airport. For taste and price, that's the best airport restaurant in the US!

Never been to Detroit. Had no idea they were just across from Canada. Just looked it up on the map. WOW! They are a border city just like my hometown! Too cool. Those hot dogs looked so good and can definitely go for a "splice" of that pizza (think that beer hit Lisa more than she thought 🤣). Learn something new everyday. Another great trip and video. Thank you for the great food reviews and geography lessons!

Awww yeah! American vs Lafayette!! And Buddy's! I would have recommended the Bucharest Grill too, but you only had so much time and tummy space.👍😁I hope you can make your way back in the future and spend some more time here. If we ever get baseball again, Comerica Park is a great place to catch a game. (Even if the Tigers are terrible)

Great video in Detroit. FYI for your next visit; I believe if you have an "enhanced" driver's license, you do not need a passport to go to Canada. It's the same as going to the Caribbean.

Man, you two come to my town and I missed you. You have to hit the tourist spots on the first visit but I’m glad you enjoyed them. Next time, let me be your host. We’ll grab a Deli Slice from Dan & Vi’s, some kielbasa and pierogi from Srodek’s and Bon Bons from Bon, Bon, Bon in Hamtramck, a quick stop to Shatila Bakery and a taco smash at Taqueria El Ray.

As a Michigander I'm happy you made a visit to Detroit - the city has a lot of great things going for it, and you found several of them. Did you notice when you were looking at Canada, it was to the south? LOL.

Buddy’s pizza is the best. BTW the OG location is in Detroit on the corner of Six Mile and Conant. I agree, American Coney is better. Love you guys.

Almost. lol We think our first visit to Canada should be either Vancouver or Niagra Falls. We'll for sure visit one day soon.
@@billandlisa Niagara Falls would seriously only take you a few hours to see,. There are some wineries, but I know beer is more your thing. . Flying into Toronto would give you a good drive along Lake Ontario to the falls (90 min). Well, I guess you could fly into Buffalo. but very little to see on the US side. Both sides have a casino (Canadian side has 2 and no tax on winnings!.)

@@craighuxtable746 We've seen vlogs comparing the falls from the US vs Canada side and it seems there's a lot more to do on the Canadian side. For time and flight routing, we'll most likely fly into BUF then just check things out on the Canada side.

Whoa...the pizza looked ono. None of that pre-made generic sauce. I like that you can actually see the tomato and herbs in the sauce. Yums.

Aloha, Bill and Lisa! Hey, the next time you're on Maui and you're craving a chili dog come up here to Haiku, and check out Fukushima's Store. It's an old country store, probably 75 years old and they have a little bit of everything, but locals love their chili dogs. So ono!

some good eats in Windsor - Bring your passports next time. Lots of good Italian and Lebanese. Love Detroit has so many good places to eat. Duly's also makes a great Coney. Now, you will hear they don't have the same snap, but honestly I don't miss it. It's however been a few years since I've been home.

That wasn’t the original Buddy’s location, but that location was best for you to visit being tourists, because the original location is in a rough neighborhood.....F.Y.I. Buddy’s has a location a few Blocks down the street from Lafayette & American within walking distance

Thank you for a peak into Detroit. Were your hotdogs all beef? You said the casing had a snap. Anything like a Nathan's hot dog? Would have liked a taste of the hot dog plain. Thanks for your cheesecake taste. Cold perhaps they were frozen before they were put on the truck in the morning. The taste at room temp would have been richer and creamier and sweeter, too. jmo
Jerome Morgenstern From what I’ve read about both places, they use pork meat only for their hotdogs. Casing snap is similar to Nathan’s.
It's a koegels hot dog made right here where I'm from in flint, Michigan about an hour north of Detroit.

For a sec., I thought you were about to say, when people think of Detroit pizza, they think of Little Caesars. There is also a chain called Jets pizza that specializes in square cut pizza.
