That T8 with the wide nose you were wondering about, is known as a T800W, & as you probably can guess, these are used primarily as heavy haulers, the wide hood allows for a bigger radiator, keeping the engine cooler for hauling large loads.
I guess I need to start calling you with my gliders because I usually sell them a couple trucks per month…you’ll get a way better deal buying from me also. That blue W9L day cab with the center tow pin bumper was one of mine, the white T800 62” tri axle heavy haul was as well, & the white 389 glider with a 3406E
Justin ur smart a friend of mine got 2 new kw not good. One has troubles with rear problems.other one suspension problems both nothing works on steering wheel. 230,000 each tri axles
Have to be meticulous at keeping the U-bolts tight on Pete suspension. That’s why they crack the housings. They hammer. From my understanding cat will take a competitor engine as core so I think they have a good thing going
I wouldn't buy anything without a sleeper, now a days. Even if it's just a 32". Any chance for a driver to drive 4 more hours of available driving time in his logbook, is worth gold to me.
Very interesting,,,, great news about Cat too !! My 2016 Pete Glider doors were the same with the top gap. I think quality suffered some as they were building them as fast as possible. My body shop fixed them, but doors had to be removed. Good luck !!!
Aren't they known for weak doors? I think there is a kit with hinges and stiffner because the doors always bend down. Nice looking truck, hope you get many years from it. One of the biggest problems they are dealing with the electric vehicles is still fires. Ford's electric is now on recall and they stopped selling them until it is fixed. Most of the batteries for electric vehicles come from china and they are hinting they may put a freeze on selling them to build their own sales. Be safe Sir.

Alex I'd almost bet ya that the truck had been wrecked sir they didn't get the door adjusted right. I don't believe that the electric is going anywhere why would Buccees be building all of these big truckstops in Knoxville Tennessee and they just built a new fuel stop in Crossville Tennessee with 186 fuel islands for vehicles. Last I remember when driving trucks with Detroits in them is you don't drive them like a Cat .... you wind them up abit more . Some use the term "Cowboy" when driving a Detroit and I've heard some say "smash the gas and run through the gears"
That program cat is doing is going to be a serious money maker. All these years their core program for a reman has been ungodly strict. With these “new” engines, they will take anything back as a core. I’ve had a ton of customers interested. Be curious to see how it turns out.
Yes a peterbilt. Your getting better at buying trucks. Stick a board or pipe in the middle of the door bend the top in, just did my 16 it's a peterbilt thing. Why can't you just add like a aluminum diamond plate hydro tank behind the cab instead of doing the tanks? I know the tanks are cooler. We have a bunch of them Detroit gliders with straight pipes in w9 and 389 always sounds good 👍
Always makes me laugh, companies send a non truck driver/non mechanic to buy the trucks. And they always buy something PACCAR. lol! "It's soooo Big in here!" They could send a secretary to pick a pretty color. lol! Oh, and BTW, a properly turned up engine saves on wear and tear. Put a 370 BHP, and a 700BHP going up on the same 10% grade, and you tell me what parts are wearing out faster, and how much they cost to install.
I’ll take the 370hp all day long 😜…… we used to do injector codes, marine cams …. All the big hp stuff. The rest of the truck takes a toll and the engines build heat which destroys it …….learned a expensive lesson !! Now I’m probably going to far trying to stick to stock 🤣🤣🤣. Short answer: rolling chassis, no engine. Probably still the same..... I have a 1977 KW900. It is a glider. It has a short VIN code that does not specify the drive train components (engine, transmission, etc). These trucks were bought as a rolling chassis without these components. Why? So that you can build a truck to the specifications that you need. Example: mine is a 'Winch Tractor' built to match a 50 ton tri-axel folding neck lowboy which uses the 80 ton Tulsa winch to pick up the trailer neck, then trailer plus load and drag the truck under the neck of the low boy to hitched position. The winch is operated off of a PTO on a 4 speed auxiliary transmission which is behind the main 5 speed trans. [Twin stick 5&4] So why is it desirable to find these now ....emissions requirement loophole!
This electric crap sounds good in theory, but right now it's a pipe dream. I just read about a guy that spent 130 grand on an electric Ford F-150 and a home charger. He was taking his family on a vacation from Ontario Canada to Chicago IL. I think they made it the first 215 miles and couldn't find a working charger, with 12 miles left on his truck he had to give up, rent a gas engine truck to get to Chicago, having his electric truck towed back to Canada. Like I said sounds good, but it's no where near reality today.
