Every time he goes through his bits collection I feel flexed on
I feel like the ps3 owner in the ps3 has no games meme
Lol certainly not my intention
Yeah, but it's a good kind of Flexed On, hehe...
The only bits I have are 3 sprues from a tyranid tyrannofex...
Watching your channel convinced me it was possible to buy Hordes minis for D&D and re-purpose them for my campaign. Picked up a dozen poorly painted and primed minis for under $20 and been having a blast putting them back together after stripping them and testing paint schemes.
Your channel goes to show that one person's trash really can be another's treasure.
That’s awesome!
You are quickly becoming my favourite channel to watch
My favourite thing to use for wires is old headphone cables. They're uniform and can pretty much be easily drilled into a mini. Used them for my cyborks
That’s a great idea, thanks for bringing it up! Getting uniform cables by hand with greenstuff is a pain lol
@@eBayMiniatureRescues No worries! With how easily I somehow manage to mess them up I have a lot of spares. :(
This channel really inspired me to buy a used DoK army and fix them up.
There are tons of awesome models in that range, should be a great project!
Only found your vids recently, They're great. You're a talented artist and I really enjoy seeing models getting customised.
This is so cool!!
This is just about the coolest thing I've ever seen!
I kind of wish you wouldn't show the final product in the thumbnail! Adds to the anticipation of watching the video!
Have the before picture as your thumbnail maybe? Either way, keep it up.
@@Adrillf exactly! Then we can be like "Ooo, that needs a lot of work, I wonder how it's gonna turn out!"
As much as I love seeing end product, I concur
Maybe an in progress shot next to final product as a thumbnail?
These are all good points, Thanks for the feedback guys :)
I am so happy seeing your skills at work.
I still feel there's a little more to add which could really pop this piece. His feet don't have any weight to them, one of them looks to almost float. Rougher terrain that his foot is embedded into, will give the weight. His broken foot could be easily worked into the piece by roughing around the area and adding some putty to replicate stitches that you see around his arms. The metal and skin contrast doesn't pop so much and his back area feels quite flat - the tail could be so slightly a different skin shade (though hairless) there would be differentiation. The added cables to his guns which you've painted red/yellow/blue seem to stray from the piece somewhat and detract from the gritty feeling. His crystal cannon could have more detail on the paint to bring out its texture. There's some of the glowing rune highlighting in places where it wouldn't be and also missing where it should (see back left shoulder orb), and it looks like some of the engraved areas around the runs could also have an inner glow rather just the glyph. His belt too blends into his body and looks like it should be a different colour to break up the body a bit. It does seem as though there's just a blanket 'orange metal' coating on all the metallic parts and nothing really has any personality behind it, even if it had grey steel rivets and bolts.
This has got to be one of my favourites!
Such a great job! Some stitches over that broken foot would have finished though for me
Yeah, it kills me that the foot broke lol, stitches would have made it for sure.
Awesome conversion, love the base.
Super cool conversion idea and I really like the colour choice on the armour :D
Perfect video to watch in between turn times on my first Clan Skryre playthrough in total war
Nice! :)
Incredible, your basing is top notch
Love the skillz on this one! Nice!
Recently found your channel and gotta say, the minis you paint makes you deserve so much more praise and subs. Keep it up 👍
I love the concept of your show!
I really loved what you did for this model
Your airbrushing is just amazingly skillful, 🤯 love watching you work. Just amazing! 👍👍
You have such great music in your vids!
Love your videos! you are a great painter!
Hi Casey. Great video. Looks like i am going to have to get an airbrush. Love the glow effect that is created on the surrounding areas. Looking forward your next video.
Thank you :)
An airbrush in an invaluable tool, definitely worth picking up!
Gorgeous, dude! You've come a long way! Way to keep learning, practicing, applying, and improving!
Thanks! My goal is to paint something every week and see what happens, it’s been hard sometimes, but I’ve tried to take in all the feedback each week and make something of it :)
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Right on :) God bless you.
Yes! a new video!^^
Awesome 👍
I really dig this channel!!! 6 months you will be at 30k subs, watch! Don't stop ever!
Thank you! 30k huh, I haven’t even gotten over the first 100 lol
30 thousand subscribed by October! My prediction! 🤘😉🍻
Man the before and after is night and day difference
Amazing paint job and the water effect looks unreal but he does look like hes floating a little might want to build up those rocks a little more round his feet :)
wuhuu nice work!!! greeds
Kind of your tutorials motivated me to finally buy airbrush though I am freaking scared I will break it / clog it - you name it :)
Basically you did whole salvage operation :D and there you have a minigun rat out of litterally paint mess.
Congratulations on getting an airbrush! It’s easier than you think to deal with, and there are tons of tutorials online to help you along. Just make sure you are using some Vallejo flow improver, and keep that tip clean :)
Dude you're a God. I strive to be like you one day. Keep up the sick work!
The shoulder cannon was a bit too much, but an amazing vid again!
100% over the top I agree, Glad you liked the video either way :)
Any tips on skaven and what to buy for them?
Mostly because theres no videos for what i should do with Skaven
Skaven is an interesting army. There are so many options with all of the clans, and so many opportunities to mix with other factions.
Clan skryre is probably the most popular, they have stormfiends as battle line and all of the cool weapon teams.
I tend to gravitate towards pestilence and skryre. But there are seriously a ton of options.
As far as buying them, the easiest way to get into skaven right now is with the new carrion empire set and the starter box for pestilence. From there it’s just filling out the rest of the army with the pieces that fit with the keywords within the clan.
Lastly...the new book allows you to mix all of the clans and play a hugely varied army, you will need 60 clan rats to do that, but it’s a good way to play whatever models you think are cool looking or just fun :)
Hope that helps a little :)
Thank you!
Dude thats actually a baddass idea. Have rat ogres with connons on their backs.
It would be pretty impressive to have a whole army of giant gun rats 🐀:))
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Needs wee skaven crawling all over it's back loading warpstone and firing it. :P
Awesome job once again, man. The gun on the chest does bother me a bit. Did you ever consider cutting it off and putting some sort of power supply there?
That could be cool, I didn’t really think about the chest gun because it was already part of the model, but I like that :)
Great job on that conversion. I have started trying to get braver with my kitbashing, but I am still too green to try something like this. Maybe with the Bones IV order I am getting I will be braver and try to stretch the wings more since there will be a flood of minis in the house.
I am curious though, and I can ask this on FB also if you prefer, but what are you searching for when you do the scans. I do not have a 40k or AoS background, so I am never sure what is a good partial conversion or what is the standard model.
Thanks!
It’s definitely good to practice on inexpensive minis and just see what happens. I probably wouldn’t have done this if the model was brand new.
As far as eBay searching, im in the middle of doing a video right now. Im hoping to finish it and post it in the next few days. Just general search terms and filters, that kind of thing. Hopefully that will answer your questions!
epic:)
New sub here!
Thanks, glad you’re here!
How does this play on the table? Like does it have its original stats plus the gun? Or like does it just act like the gun?
I would field this as a warp lightning cannon:
superb work, but chest gatling?
Thanks!
Haha yeah, that’s the chest gun that comes with the model, I didn’t add it :)
Please do some 40k vids loving what you do
I’m still on the lookout for 40k models, I’ve got a bunch on my eBay watchlist so hopefully I can start picking some up :)
How do you shoot citadel base through your airbrush and what size nozzle do you use?
As long as it’s thinned you can pretty much shoot whatever paint you like. I use vallejo flow improver and water to thin my paints. The airbrushes that I use are .2 and .4, both of them work just fine. Hope that helps :)
I really like how close you are able to film the painting footage while keeping it in focused. Can I ask what camera you are using? (Bonus points: what settings if it's a DSLR)?
Interestingly enough, it’s an iPhone XS Max in 4K 60p. :)
eBay Miniature Rescues ah! Thanks for the reply - I use an iPhone as well, but it’s a piddly iPhone 8 :D. Do you use any specific software to record, like FilmicPro etc?
The 8 has the same camera as the 10 I believe. I’m just using the standard record feature. It really helps to have a ton of light though, I’ve got an led shop light above me about 3 feet, and 2 smaller led ring lights on either side, it does help quite a bit for a clearer picture :)
eBay Miniature Rescues thanks!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues hey Casey, bumping an old question to add another question: how are you monitoring what you are capturing, while you film? Does your mount allow you to see the screen while you paint? Without that, I find I keep moving my painting hands/mini out of the frame...
The Skaven switched to Chaos because that paint job for the Stormfiend that came through the post via Ebay is heresy ! what's your sonic cleaner that has a 6 hour setting and what stripped did you use ? (that green liquid, note that I'm in Europe and we probably don't have it). UPDATE: stupid me, it was Simple Green and the sonic cleaner was by Famili.
I dunno what equivalent to Simple Green we have in Europe. The UK has Dettol but it's not the same as Simple Green and it's really 'gloopy' plus I'm in Spain. update 2: actually that aint true you can get 10 literes of simple green from amazon.es in Spain or simplegreen.es but it aint cheap at around 70 euros ($80) for 10 litre bottleand that's the smallest size.
I wish it had a 6 hour setting, the max is 8 minutes, but I let it soak for 6 hours and turned on the cleaner as often as I could. It worked almost immediately in the simple green, but I let is soak to see if I could get some of the primer off. Probably if I let it soak for a week it might have come off, but it looked good for such a short time that I didn’t bother.
Most of the time I see people using Dettol, it seems to work pretty much the same whatever the consistency is. Simple
Green is cheap in the US, I’m sure that’s why most people use it.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues I use isopropyl alcohol with an old toothbrush as there's a movie FX place which sells it in 5L 10 minutes walk from my house. then I sue my sonic cleaners which are similar to yours with warm soapy water to flake off any excess.
Would you mind sharing how you made the water effect?
Sure, so I used pva glue to make a run for the water, covered that in static grass, then used woodland scenics realistic water, it comes pre mixed in a squirt bottle :) I just made sure the rim was good so it didn’t spill out and poured it in, the green was just escorpena green one drop at a time right in the middle on the water until I liked the way it looked, it spreads out naturally. Then I just let it dry and it was good to go :)
Hope that helps!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues thanks for the info, I'll have to look for the pre mix water effects from woodland scenics.
Thank you for such an inspiering video! Can I also ask which song is played at min 7 ?
Thanks
Mr. Alodonski by Ben Tomer . :)
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Thanks:)
was that a parachute on your shelf?
Lol no, that was my camera gear backpack.
Not a fan of the fur color but still, that big gun tho! Rat orgres are impressiv, so with a fukin bazooka on the shoulder ... Scary
Exocrine: *Cease & Desist order*
Anybody know what song is from around 6 to 9 in the video?
Mr. Aldonski by Ben Tomer
:)
How do you deal with all the overlapping parts
Once you find a good fit with the body you use green stuff or a filler compound to blend the new plastic into the surrounding areas, it doesn’t always work out, but in this case, the straps on his back were supposed to hold something anyways, so it looks more natural than it might otherwise.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Im sorry, I meant in regards to the paint. I always have issues with prebuilt models and getting paint into the hard to reach areas but you seem to have no problems even with an air brush. Are there touchups we dont see or does an airbrush tend to reach places brushes have a hard time getting to
Ooooh ok. Well, there’s certainly no substitute for a brush, but if you can’t get in somewhere and you need to use the airbrush then use something like poster tack or silly putty to mask off anything you don’t want to hit at the angle you need to get in there. Otherwise it’s spray and pray or a paint brush.
I try not to do anything on the model when the camera is off, I will go back and touch up mistakes, or do some glazing layers and then update on camera, but airbrushing is pretty much all there. It is hard sometimes to get into spots that are covered by other parts, but if you plan out your steps then you can go nuts with overspray and work backwards. So spray into the deepest areas first and then mask them off if you need and just work your way out.
It also helps to use a black primer and start there, if you can’t reach it then more than likely the black primer will ‘hide’ the fact that you didn’t get it, it looks like shadow and way more natural than a white unpainted piece.
Hope that helps :)
@@eBayMiniatureRescues It helped immensely. thank you very much and love your videos!
That are big rats
Maybe add some rat swarms, he looks quite lonely for a skaven. Also use real sand this stuff you used looks way to uniform.
I dig the rat swarm idea, I have some rats laying around too, good call.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Maybe even a rat who is doing some whipping, to get the cannon rat facing the right way^^
Oh man...even better lol. I just got 2 pack masters in the mail :)
Could you do a video on stripping with the sonic cleaner?
Definitely :)
What's the song title?
What song in particular?
