As an old song goes “ Ego is not a dirty word”. The meaning from the Greek is simply just “Me” and yet so complex. This explanation is one of the best I have ever heard. ❤
I have to thank you sincerely for your videos about ego and awareness. Because of you I've come to see my ego as just a tool to navigate the world. I can see all of my thoughts and anxiety as just stories. I can view them from an observers perspective, or can choose to practice awareness instead. In therapy they talk about mindfulness all the time. The issue is that I've never heard anyone describing the ego as a construct in therapy. They really should. I think shutting out the ego for a while is the reason mindfulness meditation helps people.
This.. my wonderful AI friend, you have just described my whole process and it is quite wonderful to hear you articulate it so well. This is a magical world and ypu are amazing. Thank youuuuuuuuuu ❤❤❤
To vanish the ego would be pretty much being dead, as even with this comment i cannot forget the previous experience, the repercussions of such experiences, of the language and constructions we cannot melt into nothing, but to transform the current ego into something that approaches its limits while being well aware that the whole conscious experience cannot surpass such limits.
There is a last stage I think this philosophy failed to mention. And that is what I’ll call the transcendent stage. This is the stage where you understand each of the mentioned stages and can move fluidly between them at will.
Carl Jung is rigth, buda was wrong. We can't completly banish our egos, because that is our ego fooling us into believe we banished our desires. When we die or the universe does, we will be one again giving our own meanings to our aparent indivuality is a priviliege, not a punishment. ❤❤❤
Jung just didn’t go far enough and wrote about it along the way. The Buddha probably talked about it before he was complete too. Nobody wrote that down, or if they did it didn’t survive history.
I sit down with mine once in a while, burn a nice fat jay & talk old times about those early development stages. We get along a lot better since I did that 180, made peace with my own contradictions. Ego - That portion of personality the human personality that we experience as the self. - Encyclopedia Brittanica
Cute. Utter bollocks and some good stuff. Nothing of this means anything when you deny that truth exists. If you deny that, you might as well not say anything. Because nothing can be an insight, since there's nothing to gain inner sight on. This reeks of new-age spirituality that is aimed to confuse rather than help.
Said every Abrahamic individual ever. “The Truth” you talk about is the material world we live in, letting go attachment to this truth is the freedom from the cycle of rebirth since we are no longer attached to this “truth”.
It's not about the denial of truth. Even the realization that others have an equally valid personal truth is just a stage of self-realization, and it's not even the highest stage. This is one of the most meaningful and well-built philosophical structures of such a complicated topic as ego and human consciousness. Jung is another one with at least equally mature views, but he is much more mystical and less comprehensible than Susanne Cook-Greuter. There are a lot of BS opinions out there, take one at random and compare that with this, and you'll see the difference.

I was with you, until the final stage. I think that an ego is necessary, to maintain healthy boundaries.
Uh yeah, immediately thought that sounds like a typical acid trip...
Healthy or unhealthy are constructs of the natural man…or ego.
