great video as usual... you really make me want to come over there and get into all those short eats. those long spiral shaped sugar rolls are called kimbula buns. ENJOY!
Visit Lahugala and Kumana National Park. You can see elephants there. There's also a famous monastery called Kudumbigala close to Arugam Bay. Take the bus to Batticaloa. Visit Kallady beach and then take the train from Batticaloa to visit Polonaruwa ancient city. From there, take the bus to Anuradapura ancient city and take the train to Jaffna from Anuradapura.
Its best to visit Jaffna in the train to see the scenery along the way. Anuradapura and Polonaruwa are must sees. They are the 1st and 2nd kingdom of ancient Sri Lanka. All others are close to Arugam Bay.@@dunneytravels
Hey Callum! So yeah, basically July, August and September are really quiet on all of the south coast - it rains a lot and a lot of places are closed as it’s low season during those months. High season on the south of Sri Lanka is November to March The only busy places we found was Ella (centre of island) and Arugam Bay. Everyone flocks to the east coast, Arugam bay in July, august etc as the south has nothing going on
Thanks so much, so probably safest bet is Arugum Bay for weather and things open July. Heard it can be noisy in the evening, did you find it too noisy in evening would prefer not banging music until early hours lol ? Or any quieter parts of the resort?
Hey man, we stayed in Ceylonia hostel/homestay (had a private room with my gf) and it wasn't too bad on the noise front. During July & August Arugam bay is very lively and there's lots of night life but I can't remember the noise being a problem for us to be honest. It may be worse in other accomodation but yeah, Ceylonia hostel was ok, it was very chilled there and barely any noise whatsoever, very peaceful sleep lol It's a shame nothing was open down south as I can imagine its really good there during hiugh season! @@callum9880
I don’t surf, but was looking for people who have been to Arugam. I’ve been scammed 5 times in one day (yesterday) Once for a SIM card. Once with a mechanic, twice with a hotel ‘misunderstanding’ with prices online compared to when checking in, and had to pay the police because I didn’t use my turn signal, on a straight road going straight. The prices here are absolutely ridiculous compared to the rest of SL, 3000 for curry and rice (normally 700 everywhere else) I’ve just seen a breakfast menu for a ‘Turkish breakfast’ at 5000. If you walk down the street without a helmet in your hand you get harassed by tuktuks. It’s absolutely abysmal and full of s****y people. Find a better friendlier place to go on your holidays guys. I’ve traveled indo and Thailand extensively and never had experiences like this.
Nice with a clean and safety 🏖 is always good, maintain law and ordered that's why more and more tourist visited to this places. Every country must should think about fair (prices) plus safety. Don't take too much prices , take this prices these were stick on a label 🔖. Let me tell you something brother, and must think about hospitality, Thank you very much. You should try ginger beer (EGB) next time, it's the best combination for kottu.
Thanks for the recommendation 😊 I have seen lots of EGB around so we will give it a try next time 🤞🏽
