Thanks Jonathon. You're getting very comfortable with these....you should be getting an invitation to be the 6:00 o'clock news anchor for the local station any day now....
Here we go again with another order. Unfortunately three are pre-orders but that's life. Another nice selection this week.
Pablo now ordered in the UK
Given I bought that exact Smashing Pumpkins set here in the US almost 6 years ago, it's quite a surprise to hear the claim it's never been released on vinyl before here.
Awesome video
Thank you Jonathan
Have a great weekend
Wow! Jessica Williams. One of the best jazz pianists most people are unfamiliar with. Her later albums, mostly available only on cd, are better than the one being released here but hopefully some of them will eventually be released.
No employee pick!? That's my favorite part of the video. 🙁
Look in the description above.
Those Smashing Pumpkins records are new releases. Maybe I missed something, but The Melon Collie reissue was released back in 2012 and again 2014, and the Siamese Dream was first reissued back in 2011. These are just represses
That’s what I was wondering.
I’m not familiar with the Bob Marley-Trenchtown Rock. Is that a compilation?
Steely Dan's Katy Lied album was supposed to be released today on UHQR. Now the arrival date says "To Be Announced". Can someone please explain the delay?
Does this channel also cover the SACD releases?
I think yes
They do promote them here, but it’s best just to check the website.
You’d watch 20 videos before you see mention of SACDs.
I suggested they put out just SACD vids for us fans, but there was no biting on that one.
But, that makes sense, though… the Atlantic 75 series noted 67 SACD to be released. The series was added May 2023
Only 5 :67 titles have been released in almost a year.
So, while it’s great they’re putting them out, it’s not a priority.
Even older subscriptions from years back were never completed.
Prestige Series promised 50 titles on SACD. 37 of 50 were released.
The last 13 sat for a couple years as "TBA"… then, suddenly, just canceled with no announcement :(
So, again, I’d suggest just checking the website to see what’s available from time to time. Like me, you’ll likely just get frustrated watching these vids for SACD info…
Yes, they mention them… but rarely
@@mikewinburn Nice to hear from you, such a generous reply! I'm quite new to SACD's . . . seems I have a fondness for dead media. Picked up a Marantz Ruby player and maybe 200 titles so far, half or more classical. Been poking around online for SACD's and as you say, nobody's really making them anymore. But I keep hearing audiophiles say how much better than vinyl they sound. On the 2nd hand market sellers seem to be largely delusional, perhaps inspired by the extravagant Japan SACD market (Esoteric!). I stay away from those (unless I stumble into a collection). You seem to be an old hand at this, I could learn a lot from you.
@@issadad- hey hey partner. Thanks for kind words. I wish I had something to “teach “ but, no, not really. 😊
I’ve been an “advanced optical media “ fan since CDs came out (along with Laser disc, DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K Blu-ray’s)
I sold off all my vinyl back in the late 80s and never looked back.
Essentially, an inexpensive vinyl rig would not sound any better than a CD (depending on recording quality of both).
High quality vinyl set ups will definitely sound better than low quality CD rigs.
But, most vinylphiles haven’t heard high end SACD/ DSD set ups. And those that have will tell you truthfully, depending on recording quality, the Vinyl comes out on top at times and SACD comes out on top at other times.
So, in the end, just put your money where your preferences lay, and you’ll be glad you did.
My preference lay in the optical disc - I get good sound and can play it 10,000 times - and it will always sound new. Whereas with vinyl, you degrade it with each play.
As a result, when reprints like this Pablo series comes along, vinylphiles will NEED to jump on it to be in possession of the best sound available at that time.
I own all these titles on CD from acoustic sounds when they were initially released. Putting them through my DAC and tube preamp - well, let’s just say I don’t feel the slightest need to replace them ❤
So, yes, I’m a SACD/DSD optical disc fan. It’s what I put my money into since I want library quality recordings that I won’t need to replace.
(Sadly, yes, they are getting more expensive… but so is vinyl. But be aware, some quality titles you’ll only find on regular CDs unless you start getting into HiRez download music (like HDTRACKS.com)
Hope that helps
Keep on enjoying the music!
