  • The Uncarina plant, also known as the Devil's Claw or Hook Cactus, is a unique and fascinating succulent native to arid regions of southern Africa. It belongs to the family Pedaliaceae and is characterized by its distinct claw-shaped seed pods, which give it its common names.
One of the most notable features of the Uncarina plant is its striking flowers. The flowers are trumpet-shaped and can range in color from yellow to orange or even red. They have a unique appearance with a long, slender tube and wide, frilly petals. The flowers bloom in clusters, usually during the summer months, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.
Here, our Director of Collections, Dr Brett Jestrow gives us a brief but cool insight to this fascinating genus.
