- This week I was back to work and I put together a vlog. I had a list of jobs that needed to be tackled before I headed back to work. Clean with me! As I tackle my messy house, especially my messy craft room! I also tidied the garden, painted my skirting boards and even made a mud kitchen. I hope you enjoy this chatty clean with me video and get some motivation to get cleaning your home.

I totally agree with you on the Dyson! We took ours back to Costco! It drove us crazy having to charge it EVERY TIME WE USED IT! And it didn’t suck up anything!! Love your absolutely gorgeous house, and all your diy’s. I just joined your Chanel and am loving it, all the way from Canada 🇨🇦!

This is an older video, but it popped up in my feed so of course I watched! As for your Dyson ... I had a canister vac that lasted about 6 or 7 years and then it went caput. It started losing its suction way before that, but I didn't really notice until it got quite bad. Took it to be repaired, was told all the pet hair was blocking the motor so they gave it a good clean, but a week later it was dead again. At that point, I said never again to Dyson! The repair man told me that Dyson constantly needs to be repaired. So I then invested in a Shark (not sure if they have Shark vacuums in Ireland), and it's the best vacuum I've ever had. I wasn't overly impressed with the suction power of the cordless, but I love my corded one and plan to get a smaller version so I have a vacuum on both floors. If/when you're ready for a new one, see if Shark vacuums are available in Ireland. They are worth the money! Half the price of Dyson and much higher quality!
my husband and I were never off work! so we didn't experience lock down. not all the way anyway, we didn't go out and do things like we were used to doing and we did grocery pick up several times! and now going to having only 1 active case and it wasn't from our work, but from someone on the other shift being around someone who was diagnosed with covid, we have at least 12 cases! our work does virtually nothing to try and prevent anyone from contracting the virus, we work in a factory so you are 2 ft if not closer! they have face masks, but they are out of them more then they have them! but enough of my rant! when you were talking about your dyson, I have a bissel rocket and I absolutely love it! it is corded! which I initially didn't want but now I am so glad that I messed up and bought one with a cord! so... thanks so much for sharing and I loved the vid! xoxo

I agree. The powered head for your furniture broke on mine. Bought a new one $50 and the second one burnt out too. I think I'm pressing too hard but it didnt get up the hair without some pressure so 🤷♀️

U r so right..I hate Dyson..way to much money for nothing..and I tell u ..Hoover vacuums r the best..glad ur back to work..but still b safe..save up also for the 2nd wave coming..u did awesome getting everything done before u go back to work..tyfs♡..

Thank you for being honest about the Dyson. I had one many years ago and returned it because it was such a disappointment. I see so many UA-camrs endorsing the Dyson and, like you said, they are just not worth the money. Enjoy going back to work!

I don't have a Dyson, but a similar cheaper hoover by Vax. For a small two bedroom flat it's perfect, normally the battery lasts long enough. However, I imagine if you wanted to hoover a whole house in one go, it wouldn't be the right choice.

I have a shark not an expensive one with 2 dogs one get lots of hair and goodies which they drag in from outside and I just love it works great. I would never buy a Dyson its overpriced and does not do the job. I have problems with my hands and its great plus you can lift it off to do stairs etc.

Cat’s, I’m worried about painting my skirting boards stairs & doors because of my cat, have your cats ever gone near your wet paint... Mally cat 🐱 is black so I’ll see white on her coat but I’m still worried if it will hurt her in any way...
Yes! They have gotten it in their tails and paws, I use water based, easy to wipe off and I haven’t had any issues x

Filter queen are great but pricey
In Germany we have absolutely independent institutions, that test all kind of stuff and they do it anonymously, they buy the things like any customer in shops and the firms don't know anything about it, so they can't give out a special item, that's better than the average. They test any aspect you can think of and they found out, that Dyson is not worth the hype or even the price. It's a hoover like most hoovers and the battery is not great. Nothing special to Dyson. You can get at least the same quality for a better price.

I agree with you about the Shark plug in. I had a Dyson plug in model and it only lasted 1 year (I got more time from the cordless model but still had to replace the battery after 3 years). I purchased an inexpensive Shark model after the Dyson failure and it’s the best vacuum I’ve ever used. It cost 1/3 of the cost and works so much better. I’m a Shark convert!
I love my shark Hoover.
I have the Bush rechargeable pet vac found it good especially with a white dog and a dark rug... Its an every day job... x
Love my Dyson, had it 5 years now the best vacuum cleaner I’ve ever owned. Worth every penny I spent on it . It is plug in not cordless, don’t know if that makes a difference

Hi sweetie! I´m in Argentina and is very scary right now. We´d been under lockdown for over 100 days and is hard on everyone. I ´m not working since March 14th (I´m a nail tech) and my economy is bad right now. I´m trying to keep positive and give thanks that my hubby, my boy and myself are healthy and we have food in our table, others are not so lucky. Keep safe and big hug

I’ve always loved that Irish people use Hoover as a verb😊. We just say we have to vacuum here in the States.
I love your creative skills and your home is beautiful... with you 100% on the Dyson - thought I was the only person who thought they are totally over rated and charge exorbitant amount for something that is above average but not outstanding.
Hi Dainty, you should clean out your she'd so you can put your bike in there. I know you said you were afraid of the spiders and I don't blame you. I have a bug guy come out and spray once every quarter.
When you need to replace your Die-son, try the Shark rocket vacuum. I love it and have purchased one for my daughter and niece. Less than half the price of yours. However, it does have to be plugged in which I don't mind. Very long cord. I will also suggest the Shark steam mop. So much easier than your mop and bucket. It has reusable, washable pads. It cleans with hot water/steam so no scent and won't hurt your animals. Maybe get a Shark sponsorship instead! My fave tools!

I'm late to this video but I agree with you! Dyson is overrated! I have a shark cordless (with two batteries!) That I got for $150 refurbished and it's been the best vacuum ever!

I have that same Dyson and I have the same problem! It works good when it works but the battery doesn’t last long on the highest power setting

I agree with your thoughts on Dyson! Had a dyson vacuum gave it to my daughter and bought the Shark version...love love love it. I bought the animal Shark Omgosh truly no hair on the roller. I also has a Dyson roomba sent it back and replaced it with the Shark that empties itself love it to pieces.
I have many models of Shark vacumn cleaners and I loved all of them! Better quality than Dyson and less money. I also love the Shark Heated Steam Mop.
I think 2020 seems crazy because we are not used to the kind of disruption caused by this pandemic. The last big dusruption that affected most of the world was WW2 and that was more than 70 years ago. The thing is to not expect things to return to pre-COVID-19 normal. Expect disruption and change and appreciate the bubbles of stability. And because of the disrupted environment, people become more emotional and that creates the d-word that you don't want to say. Just go with it.

My doors have discoloured from constant cleaning with anti bacterial. When my husband went back to his workplace for the first time he said he felt physically sick. I’ve always loved my DYSON hoovers but my latest one isn’t as good a quality as previous ones imo, I fancy trying a Shark Hoover next time.

I admire your enthusiasm for all things diy and cleaning. I love my gtech hoover. I have a dyson hand held hoover and it's crap. Doesn't last long at all between charges. Just shuts off with no warning mid way through cleaning!
Hi Katherine, I have query for you since you are a wonderful home decorator and we both live in Dublin. Do you know of a brilliant white gloss that doesn't yellow/cream over time? We used Dulux white gloss last time and it creamed up within a month. I keep finding conflicting advice when I Google the problem. Some suggest maybe using a water based white gloss instead of an oil based one? If you have any advice I would be most grateful. Thank you very much. Sophie.
Yes water based is better than oil so discoloration, I used Colourtrend satin on mine x

Thanks for the Dyson review. Others do rave about them and so I wondered. Good to know!! I like my time alone but I also miss the social visiting. I just can't wait to give someone a HUGE hug!!! Don't know when that will happen. I do get to hug my dog!! So thankful for him to cuddle with. My cats aren't' as fond of the hugs!! You know how that goes!! I visited my family but we social distance. I have worked a few days each month. My work continues on but there are several of us, so only a few work each day since the amount of work has slowed down. During this time it's been a blessing in other ways. I did get some much needed work done on the outside of my home. Looks so much better now!! So glad you posted. It's always a boost to see your smiling face!

Lol Catherine on your Dyson rage haha. I was always so tempted by how great they appear to be. I wouldn't let myself fall for the hype. So glad now when u are voicing that opinion that it isn't as great as it seems. I had a hetty til she sadly died a couple months ago and I loved her. I've borrowed my mams nilfisk at the moment but I think I'm going to get another hetty. It's Henry's sister, she is a pink girlie so if you decide to leave ur Henry with ur mam then I highly recommend hetty.

I TOTALLY agree with you about Dyson!!! I had EXACT same experience! The battery runs down FAST, the container for dust fills up quickly and then the whole thing shuts down. Too many problems for the price. Not worth it AT ALL!

I had the EXACT same experience with Dyson.......NOT impressed at all. Mine kept running out of “juice” really fast and had to be recharged so often. Not what I expected AT ALL after spending all the money!
I could not AGREE with you more about DYSON. I hate mine. Every time I use it ---- it makes me SAD. Small,tiny bits do not even get picked up. Total waste of money. I feel stuck with it. Blessings from Sue in Delaware
I got my dyson for christmas, but its the V7, and was only 300 USD. If you put the switch on energy save, not max suc, it last longer and still works well. GREAT for the sofas and pet hair! I think the DC11 is over priced for sure!
I got a Dyson as well, and it’s a pretty good vacuum but I agree it’s not as spectacular as I thought it would be. I think Shark is just as good.
Oh Catherine, I ventured out to have my hair colored yesterday and my friend (the hairdresser) shared so much about how Covid has affected her family, grandkids, her business and I left there really feeling sick. I may not be able to go out to dinner or travel, etc. But her life is unravelling. as well as her employees And so many more people. I feel BLESSED. You're right. I had a Dyson V8 animal which was not cheap a few years ago. Run time was meant to be 20 minutes but I was lucky if I got 10. The dust collector used to fill up so quickly it caused if to overheat and cut out. Expensive mistake. It lasted 2 years then stopped charging. I now have a Shark and whilst it's not cordless it has the lift away function so just like one really. Love it.
I'm back to work on 4th July. A bit nervous about all the changes but will be so nice to see everyone again. Like you I live alone except for the cat and its lucky she's chatty or I'd have gone mad! I really miss giving people a hug x
I'd always had Kenmore canister vacs. Not the new ones though.. those suck. They were amazingly good. All the new vacs are terrible.. even the high price ones. I know what you mean about the balance going to a job gives. We're just now going through a 2nd lockdown here. The state next to us opened to much to fast which resulted in a big spike. Now it's drifted over to us and we're on our way back up again.. sadly it's the side of our state closest to their border. Infuriating!! We'd just begun reopening and now it's back to the old lockdown. Ugh.. ugh ugh ugh. As much as I've loved the time to be creative, like you have, I need that balance back.

Loving your videos, your beautiful accent is so calming and you are so creative with not much expenditure, using great upcycling ideas. Your home and garden look beautiful. And I totally agree about Dyson cleaners, they are lightweight but I have now got a heavier machine - not re chargeable and it does the job so much better and easier, that actually the weight of it isn’t an issue, it’s a Shark and was about half the price of a Dyson. Thank you x
True, Dyson isn't worth the hype and price. I have so many issues with this one I will get me something else soon. The Dyson overheats though I thouroughly clean it on a regular basis, when hoovering upholstery and stairs the exhaust air blows in my face. I don't like it. By the way, the fact that the power button has to be pressed constantly causes me pain in my hands. I have rheumatism-like pains anyway, and the Dyson doesn't make it better. I regret the money spent on it (btw approx. 3 years ago).
Catching up on some of your videos I missed. I bought a Tesco own brand compact Hoover £40. Have it 5 years Catherine and it does the job. Nice and light.
I like being home but I also need human contact and adult conversation. I'm in the US and I haven't worked since March 13, 2020. I'm not sure when or if I will be able to go back to my job.

You videos encouraged me to plant some herbs and flowers today from seeds and to separate and divide some of my other plants. We have had 3 weeks straight of rain. The bouquet of flowers was quite beautiful. You are a funny tell it like it is girl. I live in the middle of America south of the five great lakes and east of Chicago. Cute but Having the courage to speak the truth about a vacuum cleaner that is overrated and very expensive. I was thinking of purchasing one because of all the people height. And I don't necessarily believe in the hype. Because I owned a Dyson that was not worth the money that I purchased it for. There are other vacuum cleaners that are Bagless and you don't have to charge and work better. Bravo to you for speaking the truth. Bloggers and UA-camrs that promote the Dyson vacuum cleaners I no longer have subscribed to because of their lies.
