This is great Started playing yesterday Never though I would play a narcissist but he’s grown on me This is great to see how moves look with buttons thank you
vega needs some sorts of buffs.. his normals get outpoked by like everything, he doesn't even have that much range anymore and he can't get much out of confirming hits on a crouching opponent
+XxPlaneCrashxX His normals are definitely a letdown after SF4 but they're still good. The range is still above average tho, great speed, but they don't trade very favorably.
I think this kinda imputs fit Vega better since a character that's constantly movin' aroun', is based on contact attacks 'n y'have to be constantly payin' attention to when 'n where he lands after 'is flyin' attacks, holdin' a specific direction constantly becomes a headache
5:06 "ending with the medium version from his medium attacks will leave him plus on block" wait, so the medium roll from a medium normal is safe on block? or did i misinterpret that?
The worst part about SFV Vega is that he’s not a charge character anymore 😂. He has been a charge character since SF2. Also Charge attack Vega moves were better. Imagine them bringing Sagat back as charge character instead of a shoto style. It’s literally what the did to Vega.
I want to like Vega, but he can't deal with all ins or tons of pressure at all. Hard knockdowns are the death of him because he has nothing invincible on startup.
standing med punch becomes special cancelable... why didn't I see this tutorial 4 years ago? Why couldn't I have known that 4 years ago... why isn't this stuff also in a cancel section of our moves list... why ... there is so much to this game and they tell us so very little. I've seen so many guides and none ever said this. and standing hard punch!!
fun? his move set is completely changed, you don't have the tools he used to provide as wake up options and frame traps. no fun in there when hi's tools of counters are gore
You just need a stronger defense, abuse his claw to poke your opponent and keep them at bay. I think if you can adapt to the new vega you can be a monster, that's why I'm maining him now.
I'd also like to put it out there that obviously very few people prefer Vega as a circular motion character. Vega was 16th out of 44 in popularity in USFIV. In SFV, he is 13th out of 16, and I've been watching him drop in popularity since the release of the game. Come on Capcom, why did you throw tradition out the window and change a well-established, well-loved, and very niche character? If you wanted to experiment, you could've just made a new character.
Vega is soo sick now and doesn't have the limitations that charge characters have. His game style revolves around poking which he can now take full advantage of being a motion character. And his critical art is leaps above that piece of shit super in USF4.
+Liam Gardner While I was never a fan of his subpar super in SFIV, I will say that Vega was significantly better not just in SFIV, but also in every other Street Fighter title. Circular motion might give him the benefit of being able to walk forward and combo, but charge gave him the infinitely better benefit of stronger normals, something that a character based around poking certainly needs. Speaking of poking, his trademark range has been almost entirely done away with. No more can Claw players sit at max range and cr.mk cr.mp EX.FBA. In fact, you'll be lucky to get any combos at max range, which, if I might add, is a very pitiful max range.
+H3ADBANG4LIF3 Vega shouldn't have been a charge character in 4. Vega works as a charge character when his wall dives are actually good like in SF2 or when you should be afraid of his pokes like in CvS2 and SFA3. None of those strengths apply to SF4 or SF5. His specials aren't good offensively or defensively like other charge characters. They won't get you in and they won't get anyone off of you. There's no reason he should be a charge character in 5. If he was a charge character, he would be worse because he loses out on potential damage and doesn't gain anything in exchange. They might make crouching strong with the claw special cancellable or make rolling crystal flash safe on block but those don't really make him better considering what he loses.
+JELIFISH19 Specials aren't meant to be a character's strength. Wall dives especially, considering they last a significant amount of time, during which the opponent can react, and you're in the air where you're completely vulnerable. Vega worked as a charge character in 4 because he could be played as a sort of "mobile wall," whereas you keep the opponent at the precise location you want them at with your long-ranged pokes (into significant damage, I might add. Try hit-confirming anything into a damaging combo at max range in SF5, it doesn't work) and slowly back them into a corner. And I would very much argue that his specials were amazing both offensively and defensively. Sure, he didn't have an invincible reversal (he still doesn't), but scarlet terror was a great option as an anti-air, and rolling crystal flash was great pressure as it was only slightly negative on block.
H3ADBANG4LIF3 My point is that he doesn't have good specials to warrant the charge. He wasn't even high damage. And while his normals were good, they weren't the best. They suffered because you had to charge to cancel into anything. He needed to do 2 lps into a mp to actually have enough time to buffer the charge. He didn't even have a good anti-air game and it's better than it's ever been in 5. He's a much better character in 5 than he was in 4. 4 was the weakest that Vega has been in a fighting game.
Special cancelable means you can input a special move during that normal and it will combo. Crush counter is basically a state that allows you to continue combos you otherwise couldn't do. It will say crush counter on the side of the screen when you do it.
@ 4:38 there's no need to "block the FBA (flying barcelona attack) consistently" cos you can anti-air that shit with any button at your disposal. Or even better, meet it in the air.
+H3ADBANG4LIF3 Sure, he is my main. I think he has one of the most damaging combos and combo potential in the game. Link cr.MK, MP > HK allows him to do huge damage for example. All you need is 1 bar for EX FBA, like SF4. Even LK cross-up combo is 200+ damage. His beautiful V-skill allows to increase damage and make combo up to 500+ damage. Now Vega can combo almost everything, he can even combo from light to medium punch.
+John Watson only his v skill and ca do damage. with cammy, for no bar i can do 288 damage. with bar i can do about 330. with the critical art it's about 480. she's not even big damage, she's all about the mix ups and pressure. vega is weak as hell but has more depth and skill ceiling
From the Image/Udon comics apparently Vega mastered bull fighting completely got bored and went to Japan to learn Ninjutsu then combined it with his Spanish bull fighting. Thus Spanish Ninjutsu was born.
I hate vegas new flip controls. You used to be able to do back back. On champion edition street five or two. But then they changed it to this acrobatic crap, where you've got to push a bunch of buttons just to make him do a flip, and then it might work and it might not. I wish that they would simplify the controls.. I get so tired of this acrobatic crap on the controls.
Thats one of the Reason why i can't buy SF5 Vega is one of my favorit Characters and Capcom changed him to much. - Why is Roling Flash Claw not the Same? - Why have the havykickslide (down HK) not mor the same Distance (to short)? - Where is the Sky high Claw? - Where is the Short and the Doublebackflipp? - Where is the damage and extra Clawdamage? You make a good Job with this Video but for an old Streetfighterplayer is this to much Pain I hate Capcom for this
Ah Vega, you was my original main back in Street Fighter IV until Guy came along in the sequel. Now this time I thought you was going to be my main again but Rashid ended up taking it, sorry pal.
Does anyone else miss Vega's fighting stance from SFIV? The new stance looks a too "flowery" imho. Well... I guess one can argue "you can never be too beautiful..." I haven't played this game yet... I'll have to get used to the change.
Except you forgot to mention that the command grab is absolute shite. Light does 130 damage 200 stun. Medium 140 damage 200 stun (THE EXACT SAME AS NORMAL GRAB). Heavy is 150 damage 200 stun. The only one even remotely worth all that risk you take by using the command grab is the EX, but it's not even worth it because it uses a bar. EX is 180 damage and 250 stun. For reference, normal grab is 140 damage 200 stun and recovers infinitely quicker. Command grab is useless
+H3ADBANG4LIF3 It's not just about the damage. You have to remember the command grab can not be blocked or teched like a normal grab, you will land it no matter what if you execute it properly. This can be a very deadly move in your arsenal if mastered.
+Rick Joga Oh yes, let's resort to name-calling. I like to think that I know quite a bit about fighting games, and I know it's not *particularly* impressive, but I did start playing fighting games approximately 8 months ago and went from knowing nothing and sucking to ~3500 PP and ~10000 BP with Vega in SFIV. And sure, a command grab CAN be a mixup. The only thing that I was saying is that command grabs simply aren't worth it. The risk/reward ratio is WAY out of whack. Should you: A. Throw out a command grab and risk whiffing for a crazy recovery time and almost certainly a huge punish OR B. Throw out a normal throw and get 10 LESS DAMAGE THAN A HEAVY COMMAND GRAB and if you whiff, you can get away scot-free just about every time
I agree to some extent. I was a beast with him in usfiv. He is my main as well. He did more damage in the previous game. I miss him being a charge character.
I like the animations of Vega. Capcom really captured his character and personality in his moveset.

Alex where are thou? You're late. I wish Vega has his own stage with fences so he can crawl on it.
aaaaaaaaaaaa808 wish came true

WHO HIRED TINA BELCHER TO NARRATE THIS
+Obbi Its was simply more cost effective, all it took was close-up photo of Vega's butt and she was good to go.
I missed the part where Capcom said "pick a high tier".
Game: M.U.G.E.N
good job
+Dongulator I wonder how the hell that happened lol
I always use him to apply pressure with his pokes
I’m bouts to learn Vega he looks dope.
This was extremely helpful, thanks alot and keep up the GREAT work.
Vega is my main until Balrog and Alex come! I hope their good!! Don't let me down Capcom
Vega is my Favorit charakter
heh Chun Li and Vega happen to be my top two favorite characters in Street fighter V
5:06 "ending with the medium version from his medium attacks will leave him plus on block"
wait, so the medium roll from a medium normal is safe on block? or did i misinterpret that?
+DarthPanik64 Yeah, I paid my attention on this too. I think this is a mistake in the guide.
+YAPPOsc should be, it doesn't make any sense
i'm glad that they make his controls not a charge attack
The worst part about SFV Vega is that he’s not a charge character anymore 😂. He has been a charge character since SF2. Also Charge attack Vega moves were better. Imagine them bringing Sagat back as charge character instead of a shoto style. It’s literally what the did to Vega.

+Sebastian Colón they said 16 i think
+mepose mepose Hopefully capcom doesn't troll us and releases Alex by the end of march.
+Sebastian Colón March 32nd.
What is directional charge and input?
No point in clawless you can do most the same with claw attached
+Cammy a lot more combo potential with claw off as well as what sonny said
I hate how they took out his scarlet terror and rolling crystal flash and made his claws and mask destructible
What does the mask do?
Anything or just aesthetic?
If you take it off it will be extremely painful.
For you.
increases vega's damage..
Shields the beauty from damage in battle

Beebo Urie no seriously the command to remove the claw is the same as doing a hadoken
Beebo Urie for future reference just press start and go to command list to learn all the commands
