I dream of the day that I look a fraction as cool on skates on this.😀 My last practice I kept saying, “Down with the butt, up with the gut” over and over as I tried to do that cruising move. You’ve made me hyper aware of my snack area, too. These videos are all gold! Could you please do a tutorial in the future on 3 turns?
@@Dirtydeborahharry Thank you! I'm looking forward to practicing the double toe stop here but currently have exactly the kind of toe stop you warned against. I think my new skates will arrive in April, and they will have proper adjustable toe stops. Another series of videos I would love at some point is tips on skate maintenance and how to's: how to rotate wheels, take out bearings and clean/lube them or whatever we need to do, adjust toe stops, etc. That way your channel could be one-stop shopping for me. :)
Dirty School of Skate For the last month I’ve been skating on Candi Girls, which have a pretty much useless plastic toe stop. I can safely stop by sliding one toe stop back but not both.😮 Riedell is making me a pair of custom Moxi Jackboots (purple!), and they will be a whole new experience, not the least because of indoor wheels along with proper toe stops.
@@Dirtydeborahharry I'm loving your videos! I just got a pair of Sure Grip Boardwalks with 70 route wheels and I thought they were pretty good skates. (200 bucks). Now I"m sad because they have a non-adjustable toe stop :( Does this mean they are not good skates?
🤣🤣 this was me at the beginning ( 2weeks ago)but because I was so scared to fall using my toe stop. Finally learning to use my toe stop and t stop and now going to try and do both toe stops. Slowly but surely.
Am I the only one who is addicted to the sound of wheels on the rink? Who needs music? LOL We NEED stops at my rink. We do a "Topsy Turvey" skate...go around as normal, guard blows the whistle, we stop, turn around, go in the opposite direction....etc. for a whole song. It's SO much fun. One of the few fun things the rink does. My daughter was hilarious last time...she runs jam plugs on her skates...stopping fast and turning around...PRICELESS! LOL I love the double toe stop when going backwards, but I've seen SO many snapped ankles when rolling forward and using stops because people panic and "hit the brakes hard" instead of easing into it. :( I refuse to use them when going forward. I prefer the T-stop when rolling forward....besides, it's fun to hear the wheels "skid" across the rink floor!!! (P.S. Is it Saturday yet????? LOL My girls and I got new skate t-shirts this week...can't wait to wear them!)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: why are you so damn awesome!? Yet again, such a thorough, well detailed, beautifully explained and articulated, informative tutorial! You are so inspiring and encouraging, with a smile as bright as sunshine! Damn I hope to be able to meet you when I get back to LA! And 1 million thanks to Xavier who is making it possible for you to share all of this with us!☀️🙌🏽🙏🏽 Have a fantastic vacation!
You are the woman! Been feeling rather down for too long and I think learning to skate by practicing from your videos will lift me up. Then it’s roller derby or bust! Thank you so much for your time and dedication
Hey Deborah, I love your videos! You're wonderful and I'm so glad that I live in an age where I can learn from you and other great skaters online like this. For years I've learned how to crochet, knit, and so many more things through UA-cam; now I can add rollerskating to that list. Thank you for all you do and I'm having a blast learning from your videos. Just started skating about a month ago after only inline skating as a child. Lots of love from Miami, Fl.
Terrified to use my toe stops... it's just so scary and difficult! I'm afraid that the moment I stop, my momentum will make me hit the floor hard. Hopefully this video helps for the next time I practice....
Yes i feel like the toe stop is kinda hard. First i leaned over and fall of course. Being more upright helps a lot. Takes time to learn how to do it perfectly. I have skates without adjustable toe stops, thank God i feel it's the right hight. Thanks for this video sweety!
I think you're AWESOME! I'm 52 and haven't skated since the 70's, in a roller rink just like the one you filmed this in.... And, well... three kids, three back surgeries, one shoulder surgery, one thumb surgery, one gall bladder surgery, and one hip replacement later (just last May)... and I'm back at it for the first time, my skates arrived this week! I'm so excited! It's SO much fun, but it sure isn't easy - it's as if I never roller skated before LOL (thank GOD for the protective gear that's REALLY getting used LOL)! But, I saw this video now, just a couple days into this crazy pursuit of mine, and now I feel that I have a skating coach right in my back pocket! Thanks for being here for us! I, for one, really appreciate you!
Awwww Cherie ... you have been through a lot and lived a lot of life. Now it is definitely time to find that inner-kiddo and have some fun. I am so happy to read this comment. Keep rolling my skater friend.

Thank you for your videos. They are really good and so helpful the way you break down all the steps and then bring them together. You have a beautiful skating rink.
I literally taught someone “down with the butt, up with gut” during my last skate session. She said I helped her so much figuring out how to level up! I’m always sharing with everyone how much I’ve learnt online before I come and put it to physical practice and just how much it helps me!
I'm watching you from Quebec n i can't wait for snow to go away to enjoy outside skating!! tks for your tricks giving me lot of confidence in myself as a skater.
