I think this game is one of the prime examples of lost potential. The game really feels like a “first game” in the series, if they would execute better and have managed it well, it could have spun off into a series.

Max is not wrong. The only way to make it even more Sony would be if some JRPG characters got to be in the intro. Characters from Persona, Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Tales of, and Kingdom Hearts would complete this game.

Wannabe_Baby I’m pretty sure it’s not entirely Superbot’s fault. They probably did ask Square Enix and Atlus and they refused. I mean Dart was going to be in the game as DLC until it got cancelled.

Oh! I remember the transition crossover for the Jak and Daxter stage is everyone golf or whatever it's called and it reminded me that Kratos is in that golf game to.
At least this game lets me turn off stage obstacles.
It tried so hard, and it got so far.
But in the end, it didnt even matter

Competitively this game is nothing special and certainly doesnt stack up to smash but me and my friends play it whenever there's nothing else we feel like playing when we hang out and it's fun how insane matches can get after years of constantly playing and learning all of the tech in it.

At first I didn't like the supers only idea, but it grew on me. It really makes you fight a lot more strategically and makes you paranoid of people with meter, it does make things kinda hectic
This game really should've just been a Smash clone I saw early concepts of characters getting launched off the level and Kratos slamming against the screen and it cracking. Even with a roster that was more focused on advertising games that weren't out yet or even remotely make people think of Playstation it would've been better to at least play like a Smash clone.
Oh well this will let my fantasize Nintendo showing off Crash and Spyro in Smash, I'm not holding my breath for it, it's just fun to think about.
Mechanically this game's combat was sound. It was just way too heavily weighed down by the Super Only knockouts and the grabs creating more orbs. If they had just made it a standard combo/dmg meter it would have been better. I actually seriously hope that since Sony bought EVO that they'll be giving this another try sometime soon. Especially considering Sony's currently available exclusive roster. Hell, the chick from Horizon and even Spider-Man could show up in it. I'd love to see Miles in a fighting game instead of Peter for once. Also, Sweet Tooth should return in it imo.
I love how max watches the mech shoot straight up three times and then tries to jump over it.
I appreciate how they tried to make the game play differently from Smash Bros, but the super bar system didn't work for me. If they would take a second crack at this title, and just make it more accessible, I think Sony would have a true rival to Smash.

There are rumors of a PSABR sequel in the pipeline. I actually really liked this game and maxed a lot of characters.
NeotheDarkspine Just imagine a 2nd version of updated characters, like dad Kratos, older Drake, and even Delsin from Second Son, etc. Would be sick to see it happen.
This game was actually pretty fun just not a good roster. Sony easily could’ve use more villains instead of 3rd party characters. I thought the super idea is good because it somewhat of a gamble.
Start video and right off hearing bs lol. Grabbing is NOT the best way to gain super. Combos and items was, grabbing was super risky and very punishable. Many characters could gain super very fast off combos and maintaining pressure. Pressure is the whole point of the game.
Having super meant you could kill. Do you save it for more kills with the level 2? Do you risk going for level 3? A combo ender could give you a huge amount of bar, items could take a lot of bar from enemies. What a ton of people don't get is that this encouraged rush down play and a nasty pressure game. Most people aren't going to get it though.
For instance using Big Daddy it was a good plan to actually go for mainly level one kills due to how his first super worked and use his immense pressure game with his power to try to get the other players together for a monster kill. His 3 was decent but took a lot of time for the kill, his 2 was okay. I mained him and could take on 3 people at once with him. He was amazing to play.
This game was about the mind games and about having that threat. That guy has super....do you try to go combo him? Grab him? Use items from a safe distance after risking to even get the item everyone wants? Do you ignore him and work on your other enemies to get your own super that you might lose? You needed to smart and work the mind game. Simply running around trying to preserve your super may have worked against newbies but would get your ass smashed against players like me who knew what they were doing.
Sadly the game didn't really explain the point of everything and why it was how it was.

This game was an okay game. It should get a sequel with changed mechanics. I think a traditional 2D fighter or a 3D fighter that's a mix of Power Stone and God of War: Ascension's multiplayer mode could work really well. Sony has a lot more icons with the PS4 era, and I think they would have better luck getting 3rd party characters if they tried again.
The intro was the best part of the game. I think the biggest flaw of the game is hitting people is basically pointless; it all just came down special moves, and some were so much better than others.
Wesley Farber Those are the fundamental flaws with this game tbh.
Matches can go for literally forever in a stock match because unlike something like say, Dissidia, the attacks you're building up for can be wasted and drained undoing any progress made during the match. On top of that, the Supers for many characters feel so unbalanced in terms of actual power.
Level 3s are supposed to be the strongest Super for the character, but Raiden's Lvl 1 is hella strong because all you need is good positioning and you get the kills easy. Made worse by the fact it's a level 1 so it's easy to build up to.
So much of Allstars feels haphazard and sloppy in terms of design and thought put into it, so much so that if a sequel was to come along I feel a lot of work would go into reworking a shit ton of the game's core design to make it a better game imo.

I like PSASBR for what it is. It's just like MVCI; nothing wrong with the gameplay, problems with the roster and presentation.

A little to the party but one thing I've learnt is that you're expected to pull off combos cause you'll gain more special the more hits you can put on your opponents at once. This is the part of the game that interests me since its basically smash bros with more traditional fighting game mechanics and seeing as the company that made this's basically first and only game.
I just hate that they fail to mention you can change the settings to where it is like super smash bros with the damage percentage
To bad Samanosuke from Onimusha wasn't in this game,
but I guess Blade Warriors would be the closes thing to have him
in a smash bros clone.
I loved this game. One of my favorites that my friends never liked but I loved how it played. It was my smash for Wii U because I never had a Wii U. I wish they would make a second game but do it right. Change the supers are not the only way to kill feature and more characters in general. And I’m a happy camper

I love that Uncharted/Bioshock stage. I can only remember Kat and Zeus dlc, and I have all of the characters

I remember being a Dante main in this game while teamed up with my brother who was a Raiden main.
Even though this game is not finished because sony pulled out and lost the majority of their budget, its still very fun. You have to go in with the mind set that this isn't smash. If they add a better and more robust roster, a different means of getting kills and overall tweaks, this could be an excellent game. A sequel is necessary, or at the very least a port to ps4 so it can get some attention. This game came out and nobody knew about it because there was not enough advertising (no money). All ps4 owners have to play that's anywhere close to this is brawlhalla, which is an abomination, but i still play it because... it's something.

But yeah, love how this game is getting some love. I feel the only thing that was bad about this game, was the whole needing Supers for kills and how strong some characters were in getting supers and how effective their supers were compared to others...and because people compared it to Smash, a lot. Which sucks because Smash had years to get to where its at today and even then, I feel this game did some stuff better, like the stage, character customization, and having a mini story for each character. Like there's a reason they are all fighting each other outside of "just because it's cool".
I'd be interested to see Max or Simmons play the Bioshock series
Meet me in the school yard on this game ninja squad, I was a monster at this. Also throws isn't the best way to get energy, combos is once you have the experience in and all that. That's why Fat Princess, Dante, and Nariko were high tier and Kratos was god tier (pun intended).
I loved playing as Big Daddy back then.

The intro to this game always gives me chills; when I played it, I always let the whole thing run.
It actually makes me depressed that this game fell; they might as well have killed it outright when they handed it to the makers of GoW(I heard what happened to the LAST non-GoW they got their hands on; the exact same thing that happened to this game). I really, REALLY want a PSASBR 2, or at least a rerelease(remake?) for PS4.

Grabbing is the main source of orbs >_> Dante, Raiden, and Kat can combo the hell out of people and do AP Bursts which gives 1 super bar in a single combo

No AP burst combos?? they made it seem only grabbing gains meter, but you can do longer combos which can give you a lvl 1 super.

EUPHORIC Le-WiS we may have different definitions of OP then. When I think of OP, I think of a character that doesn’t have a high skill ceiling to become ridiculously good with. You have to put the work in with Radec and Sly. With Kratos, all you had to do was mash buttons. Dante? Watch a UA-cam vid on empty cancel.

This games was doomed from the moment it tried to be Smash Bros. You have plenty of badass Sony characters to just make a legit good fighting game, instead of a trash party game. I say that when I was a kid I played the hell out of it on Vita just to play as Sweet Tooth.

AJR2k nah, Sony dropped Superbot & let Santa Monica take over. They released Zeus & Isaac & cancelled any further DLCs because they sold poorly (shocker).
The gameplay had potential... but the roster is really bad...
It's not THAT bad IMO. The roster is identical to the quality of MvCI's roster but there's some iconic PS characters and I do hope they make another one but with more iconic characters and tweaked out gameplay.
Hell one could compare a couple of this game's flaws to MvCI
