Just ordered my D1! Thanks for making my life a little easier!!! Awesome!!
Glad I could help!
Excellent idea! I’ve been researching getting ready to jump into laser work. Been doing cnc router work since 2012. Narrowed my choice down to the x10 and will be buying your files when my Xtool gets here.
Thanks for the ingenuity!
Thanks, I think you will like it.
Love the idea of this. I just bought a D1. I will be going to your Etsy store.
Thanks
Recently purchased this on Etsy and it is awesome!!! I had an issue wrapping my head around creating my own jigs on this system but after watching some of your other videos, I realized it was not that hard once I got out of my own way. Thanks again for all the help.
Glad you like it. Glad to hear that it was helpful.
I just ran across this video, I watched it and was so impressed. I went to Etsy and purchased the file now as I have to do is go home and cut it out. Excellent idea thanks for sharing.
Thanks…
Just got my laser and have been doing the research. This video popped up as a recommendation. wow glad youtube being nosey really worked this time. This information is top notch. When I have more confidence i will get these files. I want to make challenge coins as well. keep up the great content. now time to go back in time and watch your other videos.
Thanks, I am not a pro but I try to share the knowledge from my mistakes. Glad you like the channel.
The X1, Y1 tip is absolutely brilliant!
Thanks
I already loved the concept of jigs, the hardest part is lining them up every time you want to use it and here you come solving even that issue! Thank you!
Lots more videos and tips.... You should subscribe... lol .. Thanks
@@TheClackShack looking at getting your jig file, but my question is how do you line up the laser with each jig to ensure your burns are centered? I built a jig for my bottle openers, but when I try and run multiple burns within my jig, they are not centered, even though I am starting off where the center of my jig was marked when the jig was made. I see yours will line up everything and keep it straight, but where do you set your laser on yours and how to make sure your coins are always centered? That would be a good video.
Ingenious work. I am new to the D1 and will definitely check your etsy shop. Thank you.
Awesome, thank you!
Great bit of design. Just got mine from the Etsy store this week and started burning them today.
Thanks
Perfect idea! Looking forward to using your products.
Thanks
Very cool! I like the innovation!!
It makes the XTool even easier for alignment. Feel free to share if you need some content filler. Trying to get my channel going.
Amazing work! So glad I found your channel
Thank you so much!
Have had my D1 10W for a couple weeks and framing has been a total guessing game. This fixes that, just went to Etsy and am going to buy the plywood tomorrow to get started. Thanks for taking the angst out of this.
It makes it easier... Thanks
Great job and awesome tip with y1-x1. Tip for you if you do not have garage door opener they are available on ebay I have them on my roll up door 2 years work great.
I have a drum rollup up door with the chains and it isn't bad. Just a manual roll up.
Excellent accessory idea and job production work.
Thanks..
Bought these files too !! Thanks for doing the work for us
Thanks for watching. Glad you like it
You, sir...are a certifiable genius.
Wow, thanks!
Nice I love the idea! I would love to have this but not have to remove it if I add my honeycomb bed. Great job!
I made a set of risers into a file that secures the honeycomb and allows the jig to stay attached.

Thanks for the demonstration 🥰
You’re welcome 😊
I did something very similar for my coin holder, though I like yours as you can switch It out and it is permanently attached.
Thanks.
Awesome! My D1 hasn't arrived yet but I will be downloading the file!
Cool, Thanks.. Hit that subscribe button for more cool stuff...
I just got my D1 and I feel a bit overwhelmed on figuring out how to align things and make it consistent if you want to repeat it. Like business cards for example. Thanks for the video!
It can be frustrating. Using a jig and tool line is the most effective way I have found.
Just came back and purchased your files. Very appreciative of them!
Man this is awesome. I don't have a d1 but really wishing they had it when I got my laser.😞
Thanks. Its not too late...
Not sure what I liked seeing more; your jig (which is awesome!) or your flag :) And a fellow Alabamian to boot! You have a new subscriber :)
Thanks… welcome to the channel
love the shop table... I subscribed lets get you to 1000
Thanks,
Planning to get the D1. Your idea of the jigs is excellent. The first thing I thought about was a way to reindex parts . Bravo. You should be proud. Have you considered the air assist?
Thanks
Greg
I have the XTool air assist. Check the channel, lots of more videos and recent content.
Howdy Clack! This jog will be the answer to a lot of ky alignment issues. I also like the X1, Y1 suggestion and i have made that change. One question, in using the jig, in Lightburn, do you set your Start From to Absolute Coordinates? Thanks and continued success!
I almost always run absolute coordinates and home the machine. Only use current for occasional burns
Great job! I bought your plans!
Glad you like them!
Sure do like the rapid travel between cuts that XTool can do. My Atomstack has only one feed rate between cuts and moves. I can see why folks add air-assist to cut down on charring.
Yes, it took me getting the air assist to be a believer.
Thank you soooo much!! this is going to be awesome!! appreciate this sooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you like it. Just be sure to understand the process before trying it. Some folks are having issues.
Great video thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching
new to the xtool and i will be heading over to your etsy shop . will these jigs work on the D1 pro , keep up the great work
Yes, there are a few variations in some of the older machines but there are files that cover every known variation I have seen.
Dang, that's a great table to work on. Built from cedar off your land? Great Video keep them coming.
Built for a customer, wood that I milled from local trees
Just got my D1, seems like this would save me tons of time trying to make my own jig. Question regarding your vacum table, since you don't have an enclosure, I am assuming that you are using an inline blower through a hose sucking out the smoke to the outside of building. BUT how does it get the smoke from the entire table? and what size blower to get it to work?
I use a shop vac that is outside the building and has remote power. I am going to rebuild it with a larger unit. It was a 5 gallon shop vac that I was no longer using. The boundary of the table has holes drilled in it. It creates a suction curtain of sorts
Thanks for this great jig and video i got my Xtool D1 Pro and definately buying the file. My question is this. Do you save the jig file as a template or whatever and when you use it again it is basically an overlay, then you just put your designs in the holes that your template has got as you have saved it as a file, and then put your designs over the holes that you have made on the template and it will return to those positions and laser again. Hope it makes sense what i am asking.
Here is the process..Custom engraved ink pens- the easy way

Great vid! We bought your files and are loving the actual repeatability we now have. Greatly appreciate your creation. We have the 20W D1 Pro, and I’m curious what power/speed you use when cutting the 1/4” ply? Best, Lee
With air assist, 5mm/s at 100%. You can go higher but some of those stubborn spots may hang. Thanks and thanks for watching
@@TheClackShack I don’t know if you e mentioned those settings in a previous video, but I somehow got lucky when I ran a test cut before first commenting to you. On the fly, I chose exactly those settings. I was cutting some -6mm hardboard, and noticed the core of the cut was loose before it reached 3 passes. I was afraid I’d chosen way too much power; and perhaps I had, since I was using a 20W machine??
Have D1 Pro 20w extended and RA2 Pro, I also have it on waste board with legs fixed in position also honeycomb. Will jig just slide up legs to compensate for honeycomb? Is there a file to cover alll this in the download? Really impressed with the jig system, best idea I’ve seen so far
I have spacers that work with the XTool honeycomb. The jig slides on the legs. My honeycomb holders also make the honeycomb and machine stationary when used.
Just got my D1! Now to learn how to cut this jig kit LOL
You will get it figured out.
Purchased this yesterday, what a super idea. What type of wood is everyone using to make this? I set up the base with 1/4 inch poplar but not sure it is the best choice.
I use 1/4 inch (4.5 mm ) luan plywood. It works. Occasionally you may get a warp but the thickness isn't that critical.
I'm going to buy this. My centering and straightening and placement is absolutely awful. Please can you explain to me as a newbie how would I line the laser up to the jig when using it for a slate coaster etc. I'd really really appreciate a step by step video showing me how. I literally can't get my head round it
I have lots of videos that show how to jig stuff.. Here is one. ua-cam.com/video/KVb7spW8_KQ/v-deo.html
I bought your jig today and have a couple of questions.
First, the jig pieces are a little long and won't quite fit together, almost a if my legs are closer together.
Second, you mentioned in your video that you set the x and y axis home at 1mm. I tried to set that in device settings (lightburn) but it still slams home on both axis when homing.
Thanks for any help, I can't wait to use this clever jig!
The fit on the jig may be a little tight, there is a very slight difference in many machines. It should (unless there is an issue) be close enough that a piece of sandpaper can adapt it to a perfect fit with some hand sanding inside the hole. I made it tight to avoid slop in the attach. There are some "special" models in the zip for those few occasions that I have had severe issues reported. Let me know if that helps. I have moved to X3, Y3 now for both machines. I never had a slamming issue with it set and turned on. This only effects the "after a burn" it will not help when homing. I suggest slowing down the framing speed to minimize "the bump". The homing uses the framing speed.
Hey clack shack, I recently purchased your jigs on etsy, you mentioned you set your "y"& "x" to 1.00 where exactly is the that window?.
Thanks for the videos . I've subscribed to your channel. Best channel on UA-cam for xd1.
ua-cam.com/video/G9Mh--nr_5E/v-deo.html this is the process
Thanks
Hey! Great video and channel. Couple questions. you mentioned dip the focus when cutting the plywood. Can you explain? Also, I cut out the large squaring jig and it seems to cut out fine but after three attempts it isn't square. I'm cutting it out of 2'x2' 5mm lauan. Any tips here? Thanks so much!
lower your focus 1/2 the thickness of the material for best cutting results. Only needed with lower wattage machines or thick materials.
Have you done a jig for the new xtool pro rotary? I am definitely getting this and a couple other items from you.
There is a panel in my XTool kit for the RA2
still new to all of this, will this fit a D1 Pro 20w? love the idea. I struggle with placement.
Yes, the D1 machines are all the same dimensions
I really like your idea. I just ordered the Honeycomb from Xtool and I want to use your jig with it. Do you see any issues with that? I guess what I wonder is, will I have to remove your jig attachment to use the honeycomb or can I install it on top of it? Thanks and great channel
I make an adapter that helps hold the honeycomb still and allows for use of the jigs. Video explains the process
www.etsy.com/listing/1247318839/xtool-d1-honeycomb-holder-adapter-for
Good idea!!!
Thanks
Sorry if I missed it, but I have a couple of questions (newbie questions). What are the dimensions of the wood I need to buy to fit in the x1? What type of wood and thickness are you using? Thank you! Excited to get this made for our rotary tool
As far as thickness, for normal stuff, I would stick to 5mm thickness or less. I use 4.5 to 4.8 mm underlayment or luan plywood. I have a video of the way I cut the 4x8 sheets into a usable size. I recommend 16x16 sheets but as long as the design allows, you can use smaller sizes.
Do you have the D1 Pro jig file with extension kit? I assume I would use it in the Y direction instead of the x direction since it will be oriented with the Y axis as the long axis (now the X axis) to sit on my table.
I have a way to extend it but not sure if I made one for my XTool kit. I can see about modifying it to work.
@The Clack Shack I have recently downloaded you new jig kit. I have the D1 PRO 10 watt. I have a question about the speed and power settings. I am using the same type material as you. I assume when i load your file. I need to customize the speed and power to my laser. Just curious as what to start with. Thanks so much for you work.
My 10 watt, I cut at 4mm/s running 100% for 4 passes. 3 passes is usually enough but on occasion it may hang. Running 4 just makes sure there aren’t any spots holding.
Great Idea!
Thanks
Thanks for sharing your videos. You mentioned that you use Lightburn. How is the Laserbox?
Laser box is ok but very basic. I use laserbox on tumblers but for everything else, I use lightburn. The overhead camera is a gamechanger
@@TheClackShack thank you for reaching out. My D1 is on its way and I want to get acquainted with any program I will be using.
Do you have any videos on how these jigs work and how you make sure they are aligned in light burn? We never see your pc screen. So I was wondering how do you have the top bar that never moves and your removable jigs snap in and is always in the correct spot? Hope that makes sense? I did buy your jig setup on Etsy and don’t know how to set it up in light burn
several, just search for "jig"
ua-cam.com/video/aXJEEPKVqUc/v-deo.html
Great idea! Worth the price. What wood do you use for the jigs, and what is your source?
I use standard 1/4 underlayment. Any lumber store. Some works better than others, mine is usually 4.5 to 4.9 mm actual thickness.
Love ur vids. Have u come up with a simple way to cut templates ( to use on a router table) longer than cutting area of D1 pro ( even longer than the xtended version) like with a dovetail connection between the 2 or maybe an alignment jig that aligns with holes in both parts ?
Not sure I am following but I have made an extendable jig panel that has male and female slots that allow mutiple panels to be connected.
@@TheClackShack you’re a legend. I love what u have done. Are you offering these files for download?
@@ianmoore525 In my etsy store already
great idea
Thanks..
Very cool!
Thanks
Very clever, i like it. What wattage is your laser module?
They advertise 10 watt output, I cant dispute it. Runs 2 -5 watt modules focused at the same point is what they say.
When you use Y1X1 as your parking spot. Does that become your new Home position for patterning or does the machine know it is stopped just short of home and take that into consideration ?
No, home is still home. It will return to that location after a burn
Hey. I'm still pretty new to lasers. I've been having an issue where I engrave a line on a waste board or in paper as a guide or jig but on occasion when I do an engraving it will be slightly off to around a centimetre or so off from where it should be. Would your jig design help with that issue?
No, that sounds like your belts need tensioning. The jig is for holding items in place but for it to work, the machine has to be properly adjusted. In this video, I go over the issues from improper belt tension. ua-cam.com/video/xcW7utUr038/v-deo.html
You running the 10w laser? How do you like your d1? I am trying to decide on what laser to buy and xtool is one of the top ones I am considering
I love it. It has paid for itself 3 times in 7 months. Yes, 10 watt
This is genius 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks
I just got my D1 and looking for a plan for the table fan do you have something showing how you made it? I just purchased you jigs from Etsy I can already see how helpful they will be.
I don’t have plans for the current enclosure. I will be making another soon and plan to blueprint and video it. Stay tuned
Once you put the file into light burn for the first time and cut it out and make the initial jig where do you save it so you can access it and have it in the same spot every time?
I have a jig folder in my burn files
Do you have a video on how you build your smoke extraction? Thanks!

Would this work with the new upgraded rotary? I haven’t even taken it out of the box yet, but would like to do this for sure.
You could take a large jig board and cut a hole, it would. I do not have one to fit it with.
How do I make a temporary change the leg holes on to 26.3 MM? I know I can simply sand them but i have a bit of ODC myself. It would also help with any later replacement of the locking jig. I am cutting out the honeycomb jig right now.
I had a few learning issues like not fastening down the material but I am learning from the mistakes.
GREAT PRODUCT SO FAT
Tom
You can ungroup and change the circle size, just don’t move anything
@@TheClackShack do i need to regroup when i am done?
Do you see it being a problem when you are having to add your risers for certain projects or do you simply slide it up or down depending on the job?
The jig stays at surface level, they just slide off
Just got the jig setup off Etsy do I cut the blanks then cut the shapes on it and it will be able to repeat.
I have lots of videos. You have to cut all the pieces then insert jig files.
Genius 👍🏻
Thanks
i placed my order.
Cool
Do your Jig files work in laser box basic? Or does it only work if your using light burn?
It was designed for lightburn. I haven’t used it in laserbox. I am not sure how well it would work with the “blue dot” starting point as far as a jig. You could use it to square your work. I do use laserbox with the rotary and that application it works well.
Genius, as soon as I get my D1 I will be downloading. I am getting the rail extensions, will I still be able use your jig if it is on the opposite axis? Thank you.
The extension kit replaces the right and left sides, the locking jig fits the front or back legs. I also have an extension in testing that will double the jig space. The Wi-Fi antenna gets in the way on the button end.
Downloaded yesterday. About how many square feet of ply will I need and what is the approximate size to cut the ply to make the jigs? Thank you.
Need some assistance. After cutting the blank jig board. When i add a jig to it do i save that file to ensure when i snap it back in place it cuts exactly where i want ?
Cut all the pieces, snap them together. Then lay out the jig in a file. This may help.

@@TheClackShack thank you. Your the best
Can you make the same jig for
the D1pro and what wood did you use?
It is the same jig. In my Etsy shop. I use 4mm or thicker plywood
This question is a little off of the topic but do you use laserbox software?
I do use it for tumblers and the rotary. Other than that, I used laserbox for the first couple of months while I studied lightburn. That way I could understand the machine.
Do you have a "how to" of how to send your laser to the ra2 jig?
The jig is just to square are hold the rotary in place. You will need to set up a file ad a frame to use to avoid having to remeasure everythig. I only have the older rotary.
Does the rotary jig work with the new 4 in 1 rotary? This is awesome thank you
I do not have the machine to test or make a jig for it but you could use my interchangeable jig and a large jig board and create your own fairly easy. Some people have used command strips Velcro and a blank jig board to make their own.
Thays a great idea, thank you
How did you figure what the kerf of this project is and how did you apply it to lightburn
Depending on the burns, I just add to the overall length My machines have very little kerf and not really enough to matter on most burns. Only snap together boxes so I concern myself with it. Wood contracts and expands with moisture so you may never get it perfect.
I know it's been over a week since my last question, but I purchased your new JIG. You mentioned that the JIG is made of 1/4" plywood and it took 3-4 passes. I have tried to use your files to cut out the JIG on a 1/4" plywood using the power setting and speed settings you suggested. Can you confirm the thickness of the plywood. I have tried several settings and cutting through a 1/4" plywood was over 20 passes and still not fully cut. Please advise as thinking it maybe a defective D1 or maybe it could be a thinner plywood. Thanks
What kind of plywood is it, just add passes until it falls out, then make a note of it. I use what is called 1/4 inch in the store. It is actually 4.5 mm if you measure it
Are you focusing the laser? It is a 10 watt? What software are you running?
@@TheClackShack I am using the kickstand on the side on the laser. Using Lightburn. I looked at you jig video again and the wood looked like it had a white finish to it. I did cut some 2.7mm plywood and it cut just about everything in 2 passes.
@@JoeL-sc4cy this plywood I use is made from poplar wood, it is a fairly soft wood. If what you have is oak, maple or some other wood it will be harder to cut.
What kind of laser glasses do you use?

@@TheClackShack Is that an option in Etsy
I like the idea of your bed with the steel plate. However, I've seen some discussion that burning galvanized is a no-no from a toxic fume standpoint. What are your thoughts on that?
I don't huff it, I weld also and pretty sure there are toxic fumes in that too. I treat all fumes as if they are toxic and use my vacuum table anytime the laser is running. Car exhaust is also toxic is the ppm is high enough. If ventilation is working properly, I don't think it is an issue. My opinion.
@@TheClackShack Thanks for the reply. My D1 is in an enclosure using an inline exhaust fan so I should be good with a galvanized plate then. Aside: My Mustang is all electric so it doesn't emit any fumes!
@@Chucka1463 , cool. Actually, electric motors produce Ozone when operating. Ozone too is toxic to humans, but the ppm is what matters. We are surrounded by toxic gases daily. Cool, I bet that mustang is quick being electric. I have seen the new F150 electric on the track and it is fast. Just not sure one would work here due to the distances we travel daily and the lack of charging.
@@TheClackShack This is my fifth Mustang and is, by far, the fastest and most comfortable. I wouldn't feel uncomfortable about the F150 Lightning if I were you. At full charge it can get over 500 miles distance. There are plenty of chargers within 500 miles of anyone. And the best news about an electric vehicle is that with a home charger your tank is full every single morning. And, it can power your home or shop when the utility power fails. Think of it as a Tesla Power Wall with wheels.

Can you make one for Fox Alien Reiser 400x400
If I had a machine to go by or someone who could provide measurements and testing, I could. I have done a few that way.
You have kit for d1 pro with frame extensions?
No, I havent found a need for the larger frame. I can make enough money using the smaller frame. I have adapted my jig system to do larger items without extending.
Any idea where I can find plywood that's at least 16x16?
I buy it in 4x8 foot sheets and cut it. some stores will cut it for you. I use 1/4 underlayment made from poplar wood. Its 4.5mm thick
I assume that you turn the laser on when in the home position so that it knows where x1, y1 is and then do not move it by hand?
I power the machine on and rehome. I do not move by hand.
@@TheClackShack Thanks. Seems, though, you should home the head b4 turning on so that it knows where it is from there. What am I missing?
@@howdydoody30204b preference I guess, if you tell it to home and it does so, it knows where it is. I think either way would work. Just gotta do the same every time.
